I was at two of her concerts at Kurbadhagen, I actually flew there from New Jerseytwice. She was marvelous. I had the great pleasure to spend time with Angelina and her mother (Sara) after both concerts. I even held Angelina's hands and she gave me flowers. Angelina is the greatest singer on the planet.

The rug is to protect her feet from the hard cold surfaces and from the dirty surfaces because she performs barefooted. That also provides a level of coziness and comfort for her feet peace of mind.

@@poolhallshark That last sentence really surprised me b/c I know you are a big fan of AJ and have seen so much of her performances. I almost agree with you except, I would say, "Can't be done any better by anyone else, hands down." I have seen so many times when Angelina will revisit a song and make it even better (as in this performance). Another example would be "I Have Nothing". Or, "Funny Valentine". And others. Of course, only Angelina can beat Angelina. And, maybe it would be more accurate for me to say she renews it or reinterprets it so that it is just different and not actually better. I still love listening to "I Have Nothing" at 13, "Funny Valentine" at (10), "Bohemian Rhapsody" at 13, etc.

I am happy to share all of this with you: Norway's national, and declared “Norway’s international treasure”, the singer, musician, is Norway’s youngest Book Author, Artist, Angelina Jordan Astar (name for song credit) Angelina wrote “Shield” (on video) at 10, recorded and performed her 1st original “What is Life” at 11 and also arranged a full Orchestration at 12. ❗️”Shield" was performed on stage at the age of 12. She wrote and performed this powerful song using her third language - English - so, in addition to having written a book in Norwegian at 9. ❗️She speaks Norwegian, Farsi, Japanese, a bit of Swedish, English some French and Spanish. She studied German in school and even corrected a German interviewer speaking German. Also plays Flute, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Violin, Piano and was Playing on the Keyboard while singing, at 3. She knows the musical mechanics of the Saxophone and Bass. Great reaction! Yeah, the band members are phenomenal too! They've all accompanied Angelina on numerous occasions in Angelina's "younger" days, except for the drummer. He's new, but really good too! Angelina really slowed down "Million Miles" in this concert which, to me, made it even more beautiful and emotional than her earlier versions. And that sustained belting cry into the heavenlies at the end of it -- well, there are simply no adequate words to describe it!

Those musicians must be blown away. Before Covid she was playing with them as a young girl. Now she's in 2022, a 16 yo looking like a young woman. Must be an adjustment. I love your breakdown and how you zone in on the details of the genius. Your reaction style is among my favorite. She has slowed the pace of this song at the concerts this summer, and at an earlier concert it was dedicated to her grandmother who "is getting better." Just beautiful. That cry in the last belt....so satisfying. Once again, great reaction. The rug helps keep her feet clean? Grandma Ellen, older and out. 💜

Great review well done! Like you say she seems to adjust with the song Million Miles as you can see that she tries to fight the true emotion of the song and she feels it coming in stronger but is able to pull back at the last second. Such talent she has when my day comes I want her music playing in the background.

Isn't it amazing to hear Angelina speaking? To me, it always reinforces her grounded outlook and her astounding maturity. The live sound is so good; the TV station is probably pulling a feed from the mixer in addition to a couple omni mics, right? Whatever they did, they should keep doing it. Great reaction, dude. There's a TV interview she did at age 9 where she explains why she sings barefoot. It really opens the door on the richness of her inner life. So life feeds have come a long long way over the last even 5 years. When I was doing this, you would have a Left and Right mix from the board which was the exact same as what the live audience was hearing, and then maybe a mic or two out in the audience by the engineer for some room and space sound. Now everything is split and redirected via Cat5 or Ethernet cables. So each microphone would go in to 1 master box or ‘snake head’ then from there gets distributed independently to each position. 1 being front of house for the audience, 2 being monitor beach for all the performers, and 3 being broadcast So there would have been a big tent or booth or trailer somewhere with a bunch of TV screens showing camera angles, someone on a headset calling out ‘camera 1, prep camera 2’ or whatever, and another audio engineer mixing for us to hear later. They can save the whole performance on the soundboard now and recreate it for the performer to hear privately the next day or after the show if they like. Technology is so crazy lol

Great reaction - you picked up on so many small but important details. You talked about the "rug" on stage I would like to think it is a safety issue, no cables to walk on especially for someone bare foot! - yes at the Kongsberg (7th July) concert there was a rectangular rug that had space for her to walk to the left and right of the mic stand, in Kurbadhagen (1st and 10th July) there was only a circular rug, but she simply walked beyond it - thankfully there were no mishaps! The other point you made was her "holding it together" during the emotional parts of the song - in the first concert there were a few tears during the song, she described as happy tears - but in the final concert there were many more tears, but only between the songs - of course there were many more tears in the audience... Angelina is a very focused artist, so well in tune with the musicians, and having worked with these guys before (except for the drummer). There was certainly a fusion there with some improvisations from both side - well that's how jazz works... I am hoping that Angelina returns to Norway next summer for another round of concerts.

Great reaction, thank you. I was at her other concert in Sandefjord and it too was truly epic. I have seen comments elsewhere that Angie has problems enunciating words, where clearly u identified both her perfect spoken english and the way she chooses to change vowels adding to the dynamic of the song. I too thought her belt in MM was a letting go, a sort of crying out of emotions.
@ryanjacob3338
@ryanjacob3338 2 жыл бұрын
It's just lazy negative comments Dave. Sometimes people want to be a dick. Everyone wants to understand the words, but if being honest with themselves that is often a process with most songs they ever bothered to get to know. If honest with themselves they know she enunciates just fine sometimes, and chewing on vowels, clearer techniques, all an obvious choice of hers, not a deficiency. But they want to pick at things sometimes, want to put things in a worse way than they need to, that's just people being people, weakness. These same people will highly value some of the times she's chewing on things in a jazzy way if they know the lyrics right. They neither think things through nor do they care to be fair to a kid, just want to be a dick at that moment. Weren't as emotionally available to her music at those moments. Making our suggestions, advice, and expert opinion known to the world's best whatever's is something we find excuses to do.
@alberttenfoot
@alberttenfoot 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with both you and @Ryan Jacob. What those commenting negatively about Angelina's enunciation fail to take into consideration is that Jazz is perhaps the only genre where the singer is given complete freedom to improvise. Angelina has taken this a step further, for although "Million miles" is a song she wrote to come to terms with the death of her maternal grandfather, she introduced jazz elements into it. Remember, she has very strong roots in that genre. Angelina has a superb voice and is talented to the stage that no genre is beyond her capability, but above all she is an innovator. When she sings a cover song, she doesn't mimic or try to m,mic the original. She will sing the song as she feels it deserves to be sung. Her version always stay true to the true emotions in the lyrics. I have lost count of the number of time people have commented that they never really understood the lyrics of before hesring Angelina's version. She has been doing this for years and I hope she never changes.
@Beldvlmnt
@Beldvlmnt 2 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha ‘having a problem enunciating’ might be a bit of a stretch. Unless she’s holding back tears and an involuntary frown, I don’t see her missing any words. Slant rhymes become another conversation, which she has proved to be good with time after time, and even then she doesn’t push it as far as some artists do. Thanks for the affirmations my friend, hope you’re doing well

Thanks for your great honest reactions & comments to (16) Angie. All 4 versions of this song so far are great. The 1st time she sang this song was when she was (14) for her lyric video. Angie said the tears just constantly flowed as she sang it. Here's the link to it. “Million Miles” by Angelina Jordan (official lyric) video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmug5trj9mojc0 released on 11-6-20. Angie & her grandma Mery did the art for it, but her grandma did most of it. Here's another awesome song she open her concert with back when she was (11) “Lovin' You” - Proysenfestivalen 21.07.2017 Angie’s (11) (Here’s the Trimmed & enhanced version kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6fQo6l7mb6Ghbs) from “Just Want To Make Love To You” originally written by Willie Dixon 1954 & covered by Muddy Waters & a lot of other big name blues singers also. Angie changed the lyrics & made it more age appropriate & also made it really awesome a bit modern style blues with a nostalgic feel also. You’ll see she’s opening her concert with this song.

About the death of her grandfather passed away he said, don’t worry I’ll be in the moon watching out for you. Don’t worry what you do everything will be OK Michelle walk the streets and he’ll Mahan has her grandfather walk on the streets with her passed away in 2018. He’s next song about loss of life loss of a friend grandpa during a pandemic we lost many people. It’s a loss of her grandfather and she try to do this when she was 12 and 96 days before just went off and she tried to send it always on my mind she couldn’t do that. You’re broke down and cried now she’s older able to get through this song it’s a sign of pain and sorrow for her go through her grandfather was very rude very close.

If you really want to hear something very different, how about singing in perfect Japanese. Listen to her concert in Japan where she sang a song in Japanese the English translation of the song's title is As The River Flows

Angelina's first instinct when covering a song is to slow it down somewhat. It seems to put more emphasis on the meaning and emotion of the song.

I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. The incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage. Meet Diana Ankudinova! 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre; 4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 5) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow; 6) a large army of fans around the world; 7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 8) more than 13 thousand reactions. Some reactions have 3.5 million views.

@@kevingood4644 TaLaAnt wrote "ONE of the best". and while Angelina is My Personal Favorite, "the Best" is, and will always be a Completely subjective rating. I agree that Diana Ankudinova IS ONE of the best vocalists out there, and it doesn't harm Angelina in any way to acknowledge another singer's Talent!
