Have to love all the eyes on the prodigal genius to gauge her reaction. That was manager/uncle Mike with the manbun and folded arms. All this filming by grandma Mery,up close and personal all through Angie's childhood has given her a comfort level in front of the camera that is apparent live onstage.I think artistic brilliance runs through her family in one form or the other and it all is funneled to feed this incredible young lady.

I have some ear to hear differences in singing and been the takes. Like you I really liked the discarded takes. However when I hear the approved take, it is indeed a level better. What it exactly is.... It could be the microphone like you said. I think she also changed the timing: she feels to be more on to of it... Thanks for all the lovely details about the recording studio!

Knowing what she looked like as a little girl, she still has her little girl face here. As everyone is talking and planning, the little prodigy sits in silence looking around at the adults. What's going through her mind as she critiques her performance. Angelina knows what she's been given and is loyal and dedicated to it. I've always been moved by the mysteriousness of those brown eyes, it's like she's seeing things we can't.

Angelina's Mother Sarah Astar was not happy with the lyrics of the song as being too adult. She insisted Angelina change them if she wanted to do the song. Angelina finished writing them in the car on the way to the recording. My understanding is that they fit so well that KORK had no need to change the arrangement and that to me is astonishing! Angelina's roots are in Jazz. She been listening and studying these icons from the past century since she was 2-3 yrs old on you-Tube. Also Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣 Some have referred to this as a rehearsal and I will be happy to be corrected by someone who Knows but I suspect this was no rehearsal but a scheduled performance with this performance being the purpose. KORK is the Norwegian National Orchestra known as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & I don't believe I have heard this performed with this arrangement with these particular members in a live event. She did do a live performance of "Summertime" with the full Orchestra. Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe not just anybody has the ability to book them for just any event. I believe Angelina and her family has access to this National Orchestra because she was declared by Norway as a National Treasure shortly after winning Norway's Got Talent. I believe this booking was arranged for the purpose of this recording. It's on her Album. Thus the scheduled time slot. I'm guessing the arrangement was made ahead of time and each party was working with this. Angelina was informed the night before I believe and had the night and next day before the performance to make the changes. I believe she worked on it that evening but didn't quite finish it. She visited an amusement park on the day of and before the performance. I've watched video of her in an interview at the park with a friend. It looks like they had the whole park to themselves. She finished the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. The remarkable thing is that the lyrics fit so well they had no need to change the arrangement. I believe this performance was the second take. Again I will be happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong but regardless this performance was typical Angelina Magic. Smooth Velvet Perfection! ♥👣 If there is a performance and a recording of it I'd love to see & or hear it. I know she did it live a time or two but not with these members and this arrangement. ♥👣

She doesn’t say anything during the whole song as it’s being played back, but keeps looking to her uncle and family. I read elsewhere that she wasn’t happy with the first take, so they did it again and the one we see is the second take. She made a lot of subtle changes the second time, and it really is better, IMO. This is the one that she rewrote the lyrics on the way to the recording. Believe it or not, she’s ten years old here! One of my favorite performances of hers.

This was nice that you reacted the 2. Thank you. Angie rewrote it. Angie was scheduled to record this song on April 22, 2016. Sara her mom wasn’t comfortable with the words/lyrics of the song. So Angie re-wrote them on April 21 to make it age appropriate, edited them on her way to the studio, recorded the song on April 22, and released it on April 23. You can see her glancing at the lyrics while singing. You can see Angie’s musicality & music intelligence at work, they’re off the charts already. Info from @David Touma. On the 1st take (which you saw the video on this, it’s cute) Angie is listening to the take in the sound tech’s room & then they ask her what she thought, & she said “Yuck” & did it again & that's what you saw at the end. . Her’s the Lyrics Angie wrote. Compare them to the Amy’s words AJ is amazing I have coming by your love Crazy you say, am I? I laugh, I cry, I love My eyes See well others, I cry With strangers you are high I'm alone and with no one, I cry I'm thinking of you and I cry In loneliness behind this lie From this fun part of life Every night become a stars and I leave the stars Shame they get it's so a far I'm the one who speaks to the moon I didn't want to be in love I fall back to, I fall back in I fall back in Ohhh I love you so I laughed at you I have no warn, but the wind I had gone away so many times Just to fall and back to life or love with you again I'm the one who speaks to the moon I didn't want to be in love I fall back to, I fall back in I'm the one who speaks to the moon I didn't want to be in love I fall back to, I fall back in I fall back in I still laughing I still loving (I'm the one who speaks to the moon I didn't want to be in love I fall back to, I fall back in) Love. I've been baffled at how she has always had such a flawless knack and accuracy for timing. She's never off beat, in front or behind, ever. How??? How does a little kid acquire that kind of skill? They don't. Especially along with so many other what would be seasoned skills. So Angelina has some natural instincts beyond explanation. This studio episode is demonstrative of the immense advantages Angelina has enjoyed during all of her short singing life. She's had the best of every need all along the way. It's so fabulous to see it and know her family has had the means and wisdom to provide such high quality support. Her complete comfort on stage, in front of cameras, in the studio and working with top quality professionals is from growing up with all of it. This outdoors, live concert performance in front of 40,000 in Seoul 2017 at 11 years old is one of many examples of total relaxation. Unless I'm mistaking, this was recorded in NRK's _"Store Studion",_ the _home_ concert hall and recording studio for the Norwegian National Radio Orchestra _"Kringkastingsorkestrert",_ abbreviated "KORK" (maybe some Norwegian viewers can verify/correct me regarding the location). The musicians are members of the KORK orchestra. They listened to 3 complete takes, and from what I heard, Angelina was unhappy with her timing on the repeated "love, love, love, love ..." in one of the takes. Sara said Angelina felt she was a bit too late on the beat. Other than that I havn't really been able to hear what they are saying.

If you analyze her vocals in the area of heartfelt ballads, you soon realize that she has incorporated nuance and inflections made famous by the two most uniquely different jazz singers of all time, they being Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse. With regard to Billie, Angelina has perfected her style of 'breathy', 'whisper-like' responses but then she adds the 'slurring' and mid-sentence 'key' changes that Amy was famous for. Blending all this with her personal style which takes advantage of her ability to use an unbelievable range of registers. Have never heard another singer who could do something as intricately complex to a song as this girl can. She is a 'one in a many billion' type of singer.

The day before the recording session, Angelina's mom read the Amy Winehouse lyrics and told her daughter she couldn't sing them. The musicians had already practiced, the recording session scheduled. Undaunted, Angelina went right to work, writing new lyrics that fit the music perfectly. The day of the recording (I believe or may be a different day), Angelina, her mom and two classmates went to a amusement park for a news feature a TV station was doing about Angelina. The news feature shows a clip of this recording. Here is a link to that news feature. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYm7d6iVi51_mdU For a 10 year old to write the lyrics to fit the music in just one day, then need only two takes to make the finished product is beyond comprehension.

Always enjoy your technical analysis during your reactions. You seem to admire the studio. I believe this is the store studio for NRK. Here is some information on KORK and NRK from Wikipedia. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Norwegian, Kringkastingsorkestret, abbreviated as KORK) is a radio orchestra affiliated with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (Norsk rikskringkasting AS, or NRK). Its principal base is the Store Studio at the NRK's headquarters in Oslo. They arranged for Angelina to record this. See Andy Shnell’s post for the story. Keep up the good work.

I didn't hear a "yuck" and it's not an expression a Norwegian would use. I see Angelina, communicating through her mother and the other lady (producer?), and not being completely satisfied with her own timing (phrasing on top of the rhythm) on a couple of spots in the take they're listening to, which is the second of three, more or less full, recordings. Other parts she's clearly happy with (and smiling).

Totally agree. Already the first time I saw this video, I got the impression that Angie didn't like the result too much. Between what sounds in the recording video with her and the orchestra, and what is heard in the recording studio, there are obvious differences, in my opinion they manipulated the result to 'bring it closer' to Amy's style, an error typical of musical illiterate, because the vocal magic that this creature had at the age of 10 should be a world heritage site. Then they play the recording without manipulation and she looks calmer.

@@OleOlson121 I have listened as you suggested at 7:44 and what she really sayes or almost whispers is the word; "takk" (thank you). The utterance comes after a person (a man with a northern Norwegian accent) compliments her: "Det låt nydelig altså - virkelig" (it sounded wonderful - really). 🙂 Edit: Just after the "thank you" a female asks Angelina if she is satisfied, to which Angelina answers: "nnnnja.." (that is, she starts the word "nei" (no) but changes it to a "ja" (yes) mid-word..). This is a VERY polite way of saying "not quite".. After that she looks at her mum or uncle who understands she is not completely, 100% pleased..

I don't know if this was the first take, but, very unusually, Angelina did not like the first and did a second take. Her back-phrasing is spot-on. In April of 2018, when she was 12, she received a Neumann TLM102 microphone which has been a wonderful mating. Recently she was seen with a TLM103. She may have borrowed it or might have upgraded.

Angelina's comment regarding the first take was "YUK" - not at all happy. The NRK team had taken Angelina with two of her school friends to a fun fair - Angelina was scared of the roller coaster but persuaded to go on it. The vocal warm up included the loudest and highest high pitch belt as the roller coaster started it down hill acceleration - what were they thinking? In the car on the way to the studio Angelina was reading through her improvised lyrics - she sang the first take in the clothes that she wore on the ride, after a change of top she did the second take, still referring to the crumpled sheets with the lyrics...

Would love to see you react to Angelina's cover of "[lost the link. Have to get back]". They use an unusual mic i havent seen before, and it captures every nuance. It really shows Angelina's unusual breathing technique where she delays intake of a fresh breath at the end of a phrase right until she needs it for the next phrase. Give her more chance to embellish the end of the last word of the previous phrase. Fascinating.

The glimpse behind the scene at the end was highly revealing. Incredible a 12 year old girl is so good her family is able to book a whole studio and what looked like a full orchestra for a live recording. And a 12 year old girl is driving force behind it. Amazing! Thank you. ♥👣 Would love to see a reaction to both.

What strikes me immediately is how EXPENSIVE this session must have been. Some say in these comments that Kork, the orchestra, is not even available for just anyone to book, implying that those who can book them must be paying top price. Then that studio, as you say a million dollar mixing board, then the attached (huge) performance stage with the "priceless" (sic) microphones. Hopefully the family doesn't have to cover that cost alone.

We're watching a star at work. She's taking everything in and it's so beautiful to watch. But, under all of it, you get the feeling she is the main player in the room and everyone knows it. If and when she chooses to offer her opinion about content to any degree they are all ears. In the second part of your video when she sings live all of us thought the violin player knew her and if he didn't he was totally shocked when she began to sing. We've since found out it's the latter. As you know they cleaned up the lyrics. Amy's version was not appropriate for Angelina, at all. Thanks for a very interesting video. Perhaps Angelina's concerns had to do with how much of the lyrics had to be eliminated and what if those changes affected the melody, the rhythm of the song?

Had to change the words to make it more appropriate for her age that’s what the Problem was about The music is it was fine it was the words that are changing her mother agreed that they was age-appropriate so they change the words to make it more age appropriate to her to her I don’t think she’s still a child If you notice she’s reading the words when she goes back into the program because she just wrote them out if you are before this back to black essence very strong sexual contact at her mother agreed I don’t wanna do that so they change the words that’s the problem with having your notice she’s reading the word because she just wrote that not too long ago
