This is pure 60’s soul, with Angelina playing with us a little by taking it over the top. It’s both a cover and a nod to the fabulous Etta James. She’s having fun showing us another voice and style that she can deliver with power and ease. Show me someone at any age who can shock us with I Put a Spell on You, mesmerize us with Bohemian Rhapsody as we’ve never heard it, stun us with Billie Jean as we could never imagine it, and then give us amazing soul directly and authentically. And those are only four out of her thousand voices. I don’t know anyone who could even try to cover Angelina. She’s the most talented singer I’ve ever heard, and she is still so young.

Absolutely zero Country in this song. It's blues/jazz in the style of 40s/50s/60s Torch Singers. Larry, You might bone up on your knowledge of old style in order to understand better Angelina's style and music choices.

When she was about 12 she said, "If there wasn't a Billie Holiday, there would not be an Angelina Jordan. She began studying jazz playlists at 2-3 yrs old and learning English to understand the meaning. She knew where she was going in life at a very young age. Her grandmother/Mentor, Mery Zamani, introduced her to jazz as a baby and she took to it like a moth to fire. I think this was decided by God.

Thanks for a heartfelt reaction! Well this cover is amazing and absolute one of my favourites. I been working 40 years as theatre/ musicteacher / headmaster art schools and never seen a talent like AJ. Many reactors mention her as a prodigy, alien, old soul , anamoly (for sure!) but forget her very hard work to reach the point of mastery she achieved at the mastery at very early age. Malcolm Gladwell's bestselling book Outliers introduced the theory that 10,000 hours of practice is needed to achieve the magic number of greatness/ mastery. But of course it's not a fixed number- it's more about quality than quantum . Some persons can achieve the goal earlier by by using very specific, deliberate methods of practice. I'm convinced that AJ reached first step of mastery at the age of 7-8 at Norways Got Talent (let say she at least practiced 5300 hours singing a day fr 3 years old ). Then added second level of mastery at the age of 13 performing AGT champinions. Now at 15 she for sure developed fully the mastery 3 level of interpreting covers like Billy Jean , All I ask , Yesterday not to mention her originals Million Miles , Seventh Heaven (well maybe she mastered it at the age of 9 - I Put a Spell on you ...) For me it's a bit strange that she achieved this level despite what I can see lack of formal training except an exceptional supportive grandmother from very early age. Sorry, I don't count really the training at Oslo after music school as essential for her major achievements . It's better explained that she had the support of her grandmother at the most peaking musically period fir a child = 3 years old. Maybe best explanation of AJ miracle u can find in (Norwegian professor) Bjorkwolds book The muse within : creativity and communication, song and play from childhood through maturity. Now I am looking towards for mastery level 3 and so on. Such a music talent is one in a century! 😆🇸🇪

Thank you for another great reaction video to the one and only Angelina Jordan. Just a little tidbit about the song. Although Billy Foster is given credit for co-writing the song, he actually did not. Ellington Jordan started writing the song while he was in jail but was having trouble finishing it. During one of her visit to him in jail, Etta James helped him finish the song. At the time Etta James was going through a dark chapter of her life. She was heavily addicted to drugs, was stealing from family and friends in order to finance her habit, and was in trouble with tax authorities for unpaid taxes. She gave her credits to her then partner Billy Foster in order to avoid the royalties from being garnished. That is why his name appears on the record instead of Etta James. She performed this song many times and each time you could hear the sadness and the hurt in her performance. Angelina really managed to capture the spirit of the song in her own way. Thanks for reading

Thank you for reacting to the diamond vocals - The Norwegian singer (Now based in LA) Angelina Jordan is a young living legend. When her record label (Republic Records) , family and herself want it, they can just push the button. Many people forget that she is only 15 years old today because she is so mature for her age. No need to hurry, I'm sure Angelina has good people around her. I think everyone on her team including the record company (Republic Records), slows down a bit with marketing her. She is so good anyway, so she can not be ignored. She delivers music that lasts, and not music that lasts for a few weeks as plastic hit. Angelina has over 650 Million Views on KZbin and over 2 Billion Views on Facebook overall on her videos. 600,000 followers on her Offical channel, 250,000 Instagram followers, 140,000 Spotify 👍👍😊😊 Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the Age of 8, and has been producing masterclass level vocals ever since. The only and regular marketing is done by the fans via KZbin. All the important top personalities in the western music industry know who she is and what she can do. In just a few years I know that we will see great things from Angelina. If you need to identify who she sound like, I can tell you that she has 1000 different voices to choose from, depending on the song choice and type .. It's Angelina.

A truly remarkable performance. But I see it and think: "Angelina, excited to try the new mic she just got for her 12th birthday, tells her mom (who is calling her to come to dinner), 'OK, but I just gotta do something first,' then belts this out and heads down to dinner." Few singers of any age can do something like this, yet Angelina makes it look easy - recording it sitting on a sofa, at home, in a single take.

Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan Astar on 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian child singer whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online, and led to worldwide press coverage. She went on to win the competition (at eight) with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then she has worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl while traveling when she was six years old. @@poolhallshark Yes, million miles got struck down by copyright restriction they wouldn’t even let me share revenue to be able to get it uploaded. That was pretty frustrating.

Just got word from The Charismatic Voice the Dimash’s team hired Yoola to manage his YT content and they are stepping up efforts to issue copyright strikes on people using his content. Not necessarily to go after reaction channels but it is getting more difficult to navigate the rules for reaction to his content. You can read more about it on her channel in the community tab on her page. Thanks and be well.

Great to know. Yea, Dimash and Angelina have had the harshest restrictions so far. I’ve only had one video removed (Angelinas million miles) and nearly every Dimash song had copyright slams. No big deal as I don’t need the funds. This has all been about the fun of starting something different. I’ll do it until I burn out but I think that’s a ways away. Much fun!

This is a very famous song by Etta James--Beyoncé sings it too. She is lip synching into the back of her beloved mic, you can see the logo which is on the front--guess she just loved that casual vibe on the couch. She's always experimenting. (That sure is a great big, long phrase there near the end.)

Thanks Chris for that nice reaction & comments to 13 yo, Angie doing her cover Etta James's cover. If you notice that Angie was singing while kicking back on her couch & singing in her Neumann TLM 102 backwards to have a softer effect on her vocal fry. Very smart. “Million years ago” by Adele kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3mvpY2HaNh8rac Angie is 12 here & please watch till the very end, it's cute. It’s a man’s world” by James Brown kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbQaKd9p898gc0 Angie is 12 doing a outside concert, a musician said she hit a E5-G5 on the big belt near the end.

To add to your repertoire of artists, you have some suggestions: Eivør, she comes from the Faroe Islands and, like the others you have already noticed, is phenomenal and also Post modern jukebox (PMJ) with Haley Reinhard or with Morgan James. Eivør with : Falling free kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX-zepd9d9Nqg5Y PMJ with Haley Reinhard cover of: Creep kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TPd2WneqZlmdk

Probably the greatest jazz voice to appear in years but this song is a blues number and I'm not sure if it adapts all that well to a jazz rendition. If you compare this version with a Beth Hart version (the best blues voice in decades) you can hear the limitation of a jazz voice; obviously the same would apply vice versa. It's horses for courses at the end of the day.
