Saw it live on norweign tele tuesday evening was out of this world the norweign orchestra agreed to do her own arrangement and was breathtaking.seen it 100 times at least.Angelina,s granny was born in Iran and this tribute to the woman who won the prize in prison in Iran was honoured by Angelina and her family in this chosen song after the movie 1955 UNCHAINED WAS PERFECT WAY TO HONOUR THIS WOMAN!❤

What is really moving is that she is singing to the children of the recipient who is in prison for human rights activism in Iran. She sings to and for the children who are her age. Needless to say she has Iranian background through Grandma Mery. Add to that she could be a Persian princess from appearance alone.

She's performed this song multiple times before and had always stayed 'spot on' with Bobby Hadfield's 'Gold Standard' rendition, bringing forth the 2nd best versions I had ever heard. But now, she applies her 'jazz 'roots to her arrangement and delivers the most emotion laden, penetrating rendition I have ever experienced. It's fitting that she performed it in this manner for the first time in order to pay tribute to the 2023 Nobel Prize Peace recipient, a woman who is definitely worthy of the award.

Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when they are ready. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from Republic Record.. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). She has recently performed at the Nobel Prize 2023, and also performed at the FIFA AWARD, also performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on KZbin with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a artist who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can do! Angelina recently had a sold-out concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where there was an audience from many different country all the way from Australia and from 39 different states in the USA.

Phil, thank you very much for your reaction. This was much more about Narges Mohammadi, who was honored with this year's Nobel Peace Prize, than about Angelina's stunning performance. We need to honor Angelina by spreading Narges's story. I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

Thanks, Andy, for this most comprehensive explanation of the song's significance to Nobel Peace Prize recipient Narges Mohammadi and why Angelina chose it. KORK's beautiful arrangement also included musical allusions to Pachelbel's Canon played by the violins. One icon classical melody enhancing another, sung by compassionate Diva (Deva) Angelina Jordan! That section can be found in Boris Palenovski's post of the song from 2:09 to 2:21.

John Gary vs Angelina Jordan Unchained Melody*** One of the most memorable experiences of my life was seeing John Gary perform live in Seattle, WA, when I was 20 years old. He had such a powerful and beautiful voice that filled the whole auditorium. During the break, he sat down on the edge of the stage and played his guitar, singing Unchained Melody with so much emotion and passion. It was a sublime moment that I shared with my wife, and I felt like we were the only ones in the room. At that time, I thought to myself; how could anyone top that performance, but 56 years later a 17-year-old Angelina Jordan just did. Angelina Jordan's performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway in 2023 blew me away. She sang with such passion and emotion that I felt every word in my soul. She truly captured the essence of the song and made it her own. and she is only 17-year-old. I have never heard anything like it before, this genius never ceases to amaze me.

Charity she donated the 80,000 dollars she won on Norway’s Got Talent Angelina Jordan won Norway’s Got Talent at the age of 8 in 2014, the prize for winning was eighty thousand dollars, this money was donated to children’s charities. At age 8 her first charity performance was in Germany to raise money for heart disease. Again, at age 8 she does a telethon for Plan International Children’s Charity. Still at age 8 she performs for Norwegian Sea Rescue Society Charity. On the 12th of Dec still at age 8, she performs at Save The Child Nobel Peace Prize, 4 days later, even though she has a very bad cold, she performs for the Swedish Heroes Foundation against her doctor's orders. At age 10 she performed for the Norwegian Refugee Council Charity. Also age 10 she performed in Seoul in South Korea for Rotary International to raise money for children’s vaccinations. Angelina Jordan comes from a very wealthy family and does need the money, she, and her family want to share her wonderful talent with the world. This is what makes AJ and her family so very special. Beautiful reaction. What a fascinating and intimate interpretation! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song, so appropriate to the occasion, 8 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", the first singer to sing on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes at just 17 years old. 💛🧡❤

Great interpretation of the meaning of Angelina's performance! So emotional, respectful, empathic towards the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who's a woman in prison in Iran for her activism for women's rights, Narges Mohammadi. Her delivery and the song choice was impeccable in this context, specially with Narges children and husband present in the ceremony.

Thank you for a great reaction. Interesting choice? AJ’s choice of melody was not accidential, I don’t think so! Wikipedia: Unchained Melody is a song written by Alex North (music) and Hy Zaret (lyrics), and it was first released in 1955 as the soundtrack and theme song for the film Unchained, hence the name. The film is about an inmate in a prison who is in the dilemma of whether he should escape or serve out his sentence so that he can be reunited with his loved one. And…her grandma is an iranien woman!
