Dennis, she was almost in tears near the end. She was singing this for the Iranian imprisoned woman who won the award. Her children (twins) and her husband are in France and the hope is for Narges Mohammadi to be set free so the family can unite once again. Her crime? Standing up for the rights of women and addressing the oppression of women in general. She's been in prison for years. My hope is that an Iranian official will have listened to Angelina sing this song and that the government of Iran may reconsider keeping her in prison and instead, set her free.

A great honor to perform at this ceremony for a woman in an Iranian jail fighting for the human women rights. You can feel the pain in her voice especially when she sang about Hunger for the women in a hunger strike 😢

The video starts by saying that Angelina is there to honor a cause, and for that reason she performed this song with especial reverence to the honoree and her family. Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. What is truly disturbing is that she was sentenced to a total of 31 years and 154 lashes. For anyone that is unaware of the context and importance of this performance at this event there are three things that make it particularly significant: Angelina is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize; her grandmother is Iranian; and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. It must be especially heart wrenching for Angelina, given her Iranian heritage and her empathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. It is even harder on Narges' husband and her two children, who are the same age as Angelina and received the award on behalf of their mother.

This was not a concert, but a tribute to the Nobel Peace Prize winner. Angelina arranged the song to be passionate and melancholy. Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness, is what Angelina always reminds us to do. We angels, and all others need to honor Angelina by doing what we can to be kind to others. The smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.

Sung by a Norwegian Singer, part iranian, who spoke to the family of the laureat, sung for a mother, who wanted equal rights for all, but judged to 31 year and 152 whiplashes by a regime of religious leaders, who stick to medivial times. The NOBEL PRIZES are the highest praise any human can get on Earth, regaldless skincolor, religion, nationality and age. To sing here TWICE, before being 18 years old is unique. I liked how you were able to point out at the end how she moves away from the mic, with over 10 years of singing experience under her belt we wouldn't expect less than a perfect performance!

The reasoning behind her softer emotional arrangement was that the recipient of the prize is currently imprisoned in Iran, sentenced to over 100 lashes and decades in jail due to her standing up for women's rights. Notably, Angelina's Grandma Mery is Iranian as is AJ in part. Plus, imprisoned Norges two adult children were in the audience and I assume received the prize on behalf of their mother. Imagine the maturity of a 17 year old teen singing live in front of a full orchestra and millions of her home countrymen, and the world, having to perform the song in such a way as to honor a political tortured prisoner, plus honor the beauty of the song and take care not draw attention away from the main focus. Any mistake would have been obvious, including excessive runs and over belting. Few if any singers could have risen to such a high pressure situation with such grace and poise. Angelina not only rose to but soared above, channeling her inner angelic emotion. A true prodigy the likes of which I have never seen in my 68 years on this earth. What an honor to witness. A performance for the millennia. Brings tears to my eyes each and every time.

Dennis, I'm so glad you mentioned her "mic work." I have commented on it many times & I don't think she gets enough credit for it. If you go back to Angelina's 1st time on YT, in her crib at 18 months, singing Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You & she is already "working" her toy mic, that's almost as big as her. It's hilarious!!!

Angelina is ALWAYS intentional in how and what she sings. We are fortunate to see over and over how she works with a song relentlessly until she is satisfied with her interpretation. She may sing effortlessly but there is nothing effortless in her preparation and work ethic. This child woman is a full fledged genius and artist. And like every artist completely and absolutely devoted to her art. I am always stunned and in awe.

He had such a powerful and beautiful voice that filled the whole auditorium. During the break, he sat down on the edge of the stage and played his guitar, singing Unchained Melody with so much emotion and passion. It was a sublime moment that I shared with my wife, and I felt like we were the only ones in the room. At that time, I thought to myself; how could anyone top that performance, but 56 years later a 17-year-old Angelina Jordan just did. What a fascinating and intimate interpretation of this mythical song, absolutely suitable for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song and so appropriate to the occasion, 7 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. The song is about a guy in prison considering wether to break out to see his family or serve his time..Angelina sings the song to the children of Narges Mahammidi, imprisoned in Iran, who are seated in the audience..hopefully you night “get the vibe” a little more now you know? Peace.
