A Million Miles: This time she is covering herself in this performance of Million Miles, a song she wrote and performed when she was younger and as usual, she has out done herself. She draws you in like no other storytelling ARTIST can and you feel each phrase like she is your best friend and confiding in you.

When did she perform it earlier? You might mistake it for Adeles Million years ago, similar names.
@YozhikvTumane2 жыл бұрын
@@yves2932 Perhaps talking about the performances at her concerts this summer, but I think it's gone inflation in to the word "cover". It's cover this and cover that and _"cover herself"_ - whatever that means? Of course an artist is going to perform their songs more than once, and a true artist will always draw inspiration from the moment and change it up a little each time.

This studio one was after AGT .. she had been with Republic only a couple of months, I believe. It was the start of covid, when suddenly tons of people were dying around the world .. everyone isolated and in grief. She wrote this for her grandfather, that she loved dearly and who died a couple of years before this came out. She dedicated it to everyone who had ever lost a loved one. Her runs in this are so powerful and pained. I believe the stopping at the top of those runs with air still is like when you're crying and have to scream or stop or die yourself .. it is extreme grief. I hear it as very organic and in no way led by a metronome. It is full emotion. In the next video (quite a few months passed before it came out) I do not believe this is their home but a set . When we've seen their home it is most artistic and full of wondrous art everywhere .. this place was blank. Even the kitchen had no toaster or little oven or plates or a glass with something in it .. it's blank. Great reaction, by the way .. thanks.

Thanks so much for lending your ear and pointing out the finer aspects of Angelina’s technique. You articulate that her artistry is excellent at very many levels. An amerature hears the beautifully formed melody. An experienced listener hears the vocal fry, the vibrato and the runs. Then you point out all these magnificent intricate details, so we can hear and appreciate them also. You demonstrate that Angelina is the vocalist’s vocalist. Jesse thanks for this reaction video as it was a wonderful way to begin my 64th birthday. Million Miles was released in November 2020 about 8 months after I learned about Angelina. Over those 8 months, I couldn't stop listening to her music and thankfully there was a lot to enjoy. I didn't realize the effect she was having on me until Million Miles. I had endured losing 5 loved ones over the previous 4 years and remained strong, helping family and friends through those tough years. When Million Miles was released (lyric video was the first), I wept like a baby. I had never cried to any song before but Angelina had been chipping away at my emotions over those 8 months. I truly believe Million Miles will help countless people in the years ahead. We are so fortunate to be alive at the same time as Angelina Jordan to experience music on a different level.

Well, thank you for this. I'm so glad you didn't try comparing 3 progressively. In her live concerts this summer, the pace was slowed almost to what seemed to be the furthest one could reasonably or mildly insanely do so and still call it a song. But there was a huge amount of emotion attached to the song, largely fueled by her grandmother's absence due to a health recovery. I'm guessing the reality that someday her grandma won't be there anymore at all was felt at the time of the health crisis and surgery and then driven home again by her absence this summer. All of that to get to this: She sang it really slowed down (something difficult to do), and it was full of emotion, AND that long belt was the longest ever, and like a cry to the heavens. It would be interesting for you to react to it, but it would need to be the "correct" recording of it, so get that info. from one of the fans who knows. Just listening to it over my laptop was incredible, and I can't imagine how it must have been in person. You take care, Pierre (that rhymed). Grandma Ellen over and out before she loses it. BTW, loved the cat. 💜

Thanks for taking the time to play & react to both her live studio version & also her music video of this incredible, original heartfelt song by Angelina. Of all the female singers that I've listened to, Angelina is the one who best allows me to FEEL her music. While both performances were great, I highly recommend her live in concert performance in Norway - "Million Miles - Live at Kongsberg 2022" - now at age 16. It's an outdoor concert with a great band - & IMHO her best performance of this amazing song. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

The song was produced by Stargate for/with her, and I assume that is the audio on the music video. Stargate had gotten in touch with her after hearing about her Bohemian Rhapsody performance on AGT Champions. Then this recording got her the attention of Republic. They signed her, and it was released under the Republic label. The "Live in Studio" version and the music video were then done with Republic. Stargate reportedly did a couple more songs with her, but of those only 7th Heaven was released so far.

I don't understand why your channel doesn't have more views. You are easily one of the top 3 reactors of Angelina. You provide so much insight into every aspect of her videos. I appreciate how you are able to help me understand why it is that I love her voice so much. I was never able to describe in words what it is that I like because I didn't have the vocabulary to do so until these types of videos. As for the views of your videos, I wonder why it is that when I click on the Angelina Jordan radio button that brings up all the reactors that none of your videos show up there. Is there something you can do to change that algorithm?

You might like to listen this version as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmrHh3prhcykb9E It is the version she sang during her latest concert. It is quite a bit slower than the ones you listened to now also the cry at the end is more piercing and desperate. If you like to do more comparisons, let me know which song and I’ll be happy to set you up with nice versions to compare :-) This is indeed an original and yes it is very well written and composed song and I understand your Adele association. Adele is a big inspiration and I imagine Angelina would be pleased with your comment :-) I love all the technical details about the recording: keep them coming! I find it interesting how you can hear the difference between her moving away and her being away from the microphone to begin with. She wrote this song to deal with the loss of her second grandfather. She also said it is for anybody who has lost a lost one. It is a sad and comforting song. Sad about the loss (you’re in my tears) being alone (you’re not here to hold my hand) and the emptiness (empty bubble). Comforting that she’ll never be alone and never alone to fight. During the concert she emphasized the comforting part. The difference between the two recordings to me is the way you experience the story. In the live studio version (meaning it was a one take recording) you can feel the emotion of the song more. In the video version you can see the story more. There is even a third animated and lyrics version where you watch and read the story. I agree that her runs are tasteful. I think she is focused on telling the story of the song and uses her vocal toolbox for that purpose. She can do wild acrobatics with her voice, blast high and low and much more but never seems to do that just for the heck of it.

Thank you for another grand reaction to Angelina. In her short life she has had to come to terms with the death of several people close to her: both grandfathers, two friends and one of her idols. Her way of groping with the grief is to pay tribute to them in song. "Million miles" is an original song by her to honour her maternal grandfather, who died in 2019. Her tribute to her paternal grandfather was the song "Always on my mind"'; to Ari Behn, a family friend it was "Trampoline"; to her friend Avicii it was a rearranged version of his song "Wake me up"; and to her idol, Aretha Franklin it was "A natural woman". Angelina sang "Million miles" at her Norwegian concert in July 2022. She slowed it down quite a lot - which to me emphasised the emotion - and it had a very gut-wrenching end. Great, thanks! In the comment from AJPlaylists below it seems to indicated that another recording was made for the 'official video'. I was thinking it was Stargate's recording, originally released as a lyric video (with artwork by Mery Zamani and Angelina!) It would be great if you wanted to listen to that one because, of course, my ear is not as good as yours. There is a print interview (someone help me out with the credit) in which she says she was crying while singing in the recording booth for that first recording. I always thought they used it again for the 'official video'. Seems like you could tell if they're the same or not. Really appreciate your reactions, thanks again!

No, I did not want to indicate that, I even to the contrary explicitly wrote in the first sentence about the Stargate production, that "I assume that is the audio on the music video". When I later wrote that she did the music video with Republic, I meant only the visuals.

Concerning what you were saying in the 16th minute of the video about recording companies messing up the artist's sound with too much production, the artist I see today where that is most true is Chris Stapleton. I have not heard a live performance yet that I didn't love. But, after hearing any live performance, the studio versions all sound dead. I'm trying to remember whether or not I have watched you react to any Chris Stapleton videos, but can't remember at the moment. If not, you really should. If you want comparisons to do, I would love to hear your technical breakdown as to what they are or are not doing in the studio versions that them sound so badly when compared to any of his live versions of the same song. And, every song his does is good, so I don't even have to name a song, just pick any. Thank you very much for the Angelina Jordan reaction and analysis. I really get a lot out of your videos and appreciate the insight. Have a great day.

Yep, among other skills, Angelina has exquisite taste in what sounds good. This song is on top of the heap with other greats. I wonder if the location may be a vacant house. It looks staged for the interior shots. The fireplace setting etc. The house is typical ranch style and yard is unkept with browned out grass. Maybe drought water restriction? I suppose they could have purchased or rented that routine house in a typical LA area neighborhood. But doubt they would use their own home for a video. It might be interesting to find the location by some sleuthing.

Brother , well done! If your looking to continue to compare AJ to AJ there are great opportunities with the concerts from this past summer, most of the songs were previously recorded when AJ was younger. I think the comparison format is a bingo. Side note: "The Young Women of "the Warning" have dropped so much of their live concerts (all over North America) over the past 12 months. You should do a live show reviewing one of their whole sets ( around 1 hr long). I know you would get a big audience, if promoted. I believe"The Warning" will win the 2023 best new artist Grammy and "Angelina" will win the 2024 Best new Artist! Look forward to you next review!

To your point about views/comments ratio. I think the general impression of "stars" channels is that they create the channels so they can put stuff out there, like, of course, Angelina's videos. We get stuff we like, and they get a lot of publicity. As far as the comments go, do we really believe that anyone reads them? I don't think so. I've left comments on some "stars" sites and I never receive a response. It doesn't have to be a reply, just a thumbs up would be nice. That's never happened to me, but once, and that was another commentor.

I don’t blame you for being uncomfortable with the emotional part. It is devastating to lose someone that you love as desperately as she obviously loved this person. I lost my Momma last year and I am not recuperated yet.

Keep in mind some of us watch her multiple times. We comment somewhat often multiple times as well, but can only like each one once. Reaction videos, seeing others to share the experience of her with, steals a lot of her views and comments as well, often reactions can spark more interesting conversations. I have to make myself watch her videos at least once a day, even leave them going when I go for a smoke or something. But I prefer reactions since I've seen them a lot and a fresh reaction adds a bit, and you make me see things and think of things I didn't before. But If I've seen suspicious minds 50 times on her channel, only got to like once, and commented 3 times already, I don't want to just speak for the sake of it and be too ridiculous as well. Fending off trolls and inappropriate comments, or finding interesting conversations in there is a way I add more comments to her stuff, or same goes for her best reactors. But we should all sign up for Spotify and favorite and listen to her stuff, it's free and easy, we should all visit her official pages and watch to the end, like and comment at least once on as many videos as we can. She still doesn't have enough exposure until big money gets the green light to push her on people. As a kid she even has to deal with men's insecurities about following a young woman, and everyone's preconceived notions of a kid, everyone that needs someone to be confirmed great by large numbers and sales to consider them great. But hey, we try, thanks for spreading the algorithm message, and we also can all take solace in the near fact she is going to be a behemoth of a star, success is only a matter of to what degree with her going forward, she will be fine quickly when her team says go and her Republic album drops, maybe even the top artist in the world right away or within a few albums, that is possible.

But what I wanted to make clearer, was that you are a great reactor, watching you clearly fall deeply in love lately is a pleasure, she will widdle down a ton of folk just like you and us, and that will be a momentum thing, the bigger she gets, the more 'permission' people have to hear her out properly, the more she gains more fans even quicker. It is simply a matter of time. Voice is too beautiful, talent too versatile and phenomenal, young and beautiful, a real artist. Zero question. What you are doing, what we are doing, our part algorithm wise, well it's important and appreciated for her to get off to a quicker start when it's go time, she deserves to know she made it overnight.

This is her 4th original song. You played 2 of the 3 versions. There is an older version, perhaps before she signed with Republic, done with (clever) graphics, Angelina's and her grandmother's art, etc. Worth viewing. That said, she did versions in her concerts in Norway a few months ago which show the vocal maturity she is achieving so quickly. Kongsberg - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKCugpiMl7mbsKc and at Sandefjord - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6KYfHSwqdifjdk Angelina has owned a Neumann TLM-102 mike since she was 12 years old. It was a huge improvement to the karaoke mike she was previously using. She might have upgraded to a TLM-103 now, so some say, but she has been using that large retro studio mike for most of her recent recordings.

Jesse, AJ is one of the two best female vocalists on the planet. The other is Sohyang -- you have to check her out. Start with Bridge Over Troubled Water: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWfMeZtqrqeredE. However, beware -- it's another rabbit hole. Sohyang crosses over with AJ on Whitney covers as well, so many interesting points of comparison. Of course, AJ is an alto, while Sohyang can belt a g-flat 5 with little effort.

Rob Christie has won two Grammies for production. So anything else than a proper recording that doesnt kill the nuances would be quite the disappointment in my opinion. Regarding the comment count - I suppose it just simply doesnt feel rewarding to comment when the creator never reacts and probably never reads it. So reaction channels are prone to receive more comments than the artist.
