No one tells Angelina what to sing or how to sing - she also designs a lot of her own clothes and determines her style. Angelina wrote the core lyrics and melodies for her EP and has stated that - but she also collaborated with others on the recording mix which would include tweaks to phrasing and perhaps changing a few words for better flow, backing vocals, and instrumentation. The EP production credits list several co-writers including Rachael Platten and Tara Stinson. In addition, it is rumored that Dianne Warren one of the greatest living pop songwriters has had some input on Angelina's forthcoming full album. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs so far and that will be sharing them with the World as time goes on. Angelina has stated that the basis of her original songs is taken from her own journal writings.

Nice to see, or I mean, hear you ladies again! I can understand Mother's feelings about her dress appearance and sound she has on her EP. According to Angelina herself, the EP is supposed to have a retro 60's vibe feel to it. With the 2 music videos, Love Don't Let Me Go and Now I'm The Fool, she was going for that particular feel, the hair, the clothing, the car, the videos being shot in black and white, and of course the songs themselves. It was her goal to fuse old school sound and style with today's sound. She does have the difficult task in keeping her older fans happy, but also try to win over the younger listening audience as well. For her to have staying power, she needs to have a younger fan base. Besides, she still only 17 and she's probably still experimenting with sound and style, which makes her more of an artist than just a singer....

Angelina's EP has some great original songs on it. The first two, Love Don't Let Me Go, were written by Angelina in collaboration with a certain writing team. She partners with other people throughout the EP, which leads to some surprises and wonderful moments. I think you'd love the song Good In Goodbyes and All My Fault. Surprised to "see" you both again, but happy to do so. I agree in large part with your reactions to Angelina's new EP. I think the songs are very well done and the messages are spot on. The Good In Goodbye has a smooth feel to it and Diamond is a rocker, but every song is so full of instrumentation that her voice is somehow pushed back. I don't hear the lower range she is so famous for. Her head voice is what I hear the most of. An album with some ballads on it would be my preference. Let's see what the rest of the album offers when it comes out.

Hi ladies. Always fun listen to you. Charlotte Elisabeth, thanks for sharing your workplace experience and how you coped with it. It's not easy when the culture changes, and especially bad when it's felt toxic and one is not valued. I guess you considered to influence to get changes in his behaviour, but sadly thats a very tough task. As you say, better to get out and pursue new opportunities. Good luck 🥰 Btw, the song Good in Goodbyes by Angelina Jordan is very relateable, and especially about how you feel after the goodbye to your workplace. There is some good in it, then you will shine again. In my opinion the best track on her EP, incredible lyrics. And then listen to Diamond, that's pure feelgood 🥰 And regarding AJ, my impression is that she is a very headstrong girl in total control and the driving force of her artistic choises. For me it's enough with her in a white dress singing her heart out. But, like it or not, it's her own choices, she is as mother say a genius, perhaps the greatest talent ever, and personally I respect her artistic choices because I know it's hers alone. The songs on the EP made me so happy, because she surprises us, she gets better, she has her own style, she slowly makes the transition into a grown up artist. And when her music fill the hearts of all the world her career as a child almost will be a forgotten memory. By the end of the year there will be a full LP of only originals. She has project going with Diane Warren, she will be the main artist in football world cup 2026 (as Shakira was in 2010) etc. The future looks very bright. Ladies, you said once in a Angelina reaction that you would travel anywhere to see a concert of hers. She has one in September in the U.S. you really should attend. As a seventeen year old, Angelina is having fun dressing up and discovering different looks. She marches to her own drummer and I doubt there is a stylist in her circle. As a seventy year old man, I was concerned of the pop music industry and afraid of the LA effect on her. I'm convinced Angelina is in total control of the direction her career is going, this is what she wants. Musicly, I think this EP is the finest recording since Amy's Back to Black album. It's wonderfully produced without being overproduced. It's six totally different tracks that sound so Angelina. It's appealing to many different listeners with a jazz pop style. Obviously, I love it and I love her. I also love the two of you and have missed you reacting to Angelina, you missed so many of her performances unless you watched them on your own without reacting to them. Also, I enjoy hearing you but I miss your pretty faces. Hope to see you soon.

Angelina's next scheduled concert will be on September 22, 2023, at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, near Boston, Mass, USA - There are still some tickets available - it is a small venue (about 900) so every seat will allow you to see Angelina up close. For those interested, buy tickets directly from The Music Hall, and avoid 3rd party ticket sellers if possible.

Mom, you observations are very correct. Everyone in Angelina's camp is concerned about her appeal to the younger audience and thus they have encouraged her to modify her appearance and style of singing to attract those who haven't discovered her yet. She is still Angelina and will remain our darling as she goes through this transition. Yes, transition. Ballads with the smokiness of jazz and the soulfulness of her voice and the aura of love all around her will be her forte through the years and everyone in the world will always want to settle back and listen to her sing one of her tunes at any time of the day or night. Once she gathers in those who have been missing out on who she is, rather than to conform to any segment of the masses for appeal they, instead, will get to appreciate what she is bringing to the table and love every minute of it. I wish I could tell you, "I told you so !" but I'll be long gone by that time but with the time I have left it will be spent listening to Angelina sing 'for me and a few million other people along the way' to warm our hearts with a love which we have never felt before in our lives. It isn't just her incredible voice, it's 'who she is' and in that regard she remains unlike anyone we have ever recognized in our life. If you begin to feel tears starting to build up when you listen to her sing, or listen to her talk, or see her (at any age) or just think about her, than you know what I mean.

Footnote: I'm in good health but I've been around the block a few times and the path is getting worn out if you know what I mean. I have no intention of packing it in and if I'm fortunate I will be listening to Angelina for years to come and continue to be the kinder, more caring and loving person I am since she inspired me to be what I've become.

Very well said, Robert. I'm not sure I will ever understand how this young lady's appearance, at any age, always elicits tears. She doesn't even need to make a sound, just show up, even if just in my mind. Perhaps it's because of all that wonderful documentation, allowing us to live her childhood as though she was one of ours. There is something especially evocative about her presence. As a old school Angelina fan I find the new EP a little over produced, it kind of obliterates the pure beauty of her voice. But I also want her to reach her goal of superstar status, whatever that means these days, Taylor Swift I guess. Having said that, I think Now I'm the Fool is one of her best ever.

I think the THEME of this new EP is RETRO, back in the 60s -70s. Hence the BeeHive Hair popular in the 60-70s, the Car, Elvis Red Guitar in the Back Seat of the Video, Love Don’t Let Me Know. The Car also is a Classic from that era. The fashion, same thing. Angelina is playing and experimenting with many things, color of eyes, hair style, make up, etc., no different than other teenage girls (Angelina is 17 yo). She releasing another album soon, a full Album. I think by the end of September. What theme she’ll choose for that album we don’t know, but it will be fantastic and different, I’m sure. She always surprises in a great way.

Nice view on AJ but i think its quality music for a 17 yr old she cant keep covering covers and has to move on am 63 so not young but love her ep its tricky i know but at leaste she has all the classic songs on utube if thats the style you like its a funny one but nice to listen to you both always a good listen interesting ❤

A very late comment, but I'd like to offer a few thoughts related to what you were saying about Angelina: In November 2020, shortly after she released "Million Miles" (her first on Republic Records), Angelina said on her Patreon that she was "making more music now" and was "free to create and express my feelings, dress how I want, and just be me, myself". The context didn't make it clear whether she was celebrating newfound freedoms negotiated with her family or with Republic Records. (IOW, was she saying that her family was now giving her more control over her image and what kind of music she recorded and released, or that her contract with Republic gave her more control over these things than one might expect to get in a typical "initial record contract"? I don't know…) About 7 months later, she started posting TikToks, and from the very beginning (but not always in the early ones) she was wearing colored contacts in those. At first, it wasn't obvious whether they were real or just a filter, but eventually it became clear that they were real and that she almost certainly wore them regularly in her everyday life. (I suspect this is something she has wanted to do for many years, but wasn't allowed to.) She first wore them "professionally" in June 2022, in her _Allsang på Grensen_ appearance and in the "Suspicious Minds" music video posted that same week (and has done so regularly since). Of course, her overall appearance in that music video - hair, makeup, outfit - was greatly influenced by the song/artist she was covering. Same thing for her (very different) appearance in the "I Have Nothing" music video, done around the same time (and the live performance you reacted to). I think something very similar can be said (and _has_ been said) about her current look, adopted specifically for the EP. Even though she is not covering nor paying homage to any particular artist [the extended sample from Millie Jackson's "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right" notwithstanding], she is still using her appearance to "allude to" the musical styles that influenced the sound of the EP tracks: among other things, classic '60s soul/R&B mixed with mid-'90s alternative hip hop. IOW, it's basically a more "generalized" version of what she has always done. She has always been a vocal chameleon. And at least since the age of 12, she has been a visual one, as well. I strongly suspect, therefore, that she will not be tied to this present image for very long. Soon enough, she will be on to something different, both musically and visually. And I think we can safely assume that it will be because it's something _she_ wants to do, not something "they" are forcing her to do. At least, that's what I hope. (I'm sure there are industry types who are [or will be] counseling her to settle on a consistent sound and image, so as not to "confuse the public". But that's just not her.)

Have to disagree with Mother on Angelina's new songs. There's a good bit of variety in the songs and some continuity as well. For now, this is the sound she has determined is her signature. Will it evolve? Certainly. But she long atsted that she wants to be a superstar and that's less likely to happen dedicating herself to a greying, jazz centric audience. She has to appeal to that 18 to 28 year old population because that's who will be buying/sharing the music and concert tickets for the next 30-40 years. This is probably the music Angie wanted to be making at this stage of her career. She just needed production talent and facilities to do it.

Well said Tom, Angelina is making a more modern style of music but she is doing it with old school skill and style. I can not wait to see what this young lady has in store for all of us when the full album is released, she has always been headstrong and determined to go her own way so nothing would really surprise me at all.

Welcome back you 2 ❤. Alot of us agree with what you said about Angelina. That's the evil industry for you, the god of money and sodomy is what they worship. But her family is on gaurd. This 1st album is to get exposure to a wider audience to Angelina then pull back and let her do her thing. Didmyou know they even built a separate sound studio just for her to pratices, write and play all day and when she wants. She invites over who she chooses. Her family is always there. So just keep praying for her and her family never to give in to there evil and immoral life styles etc (PS, would you please react to Laura Bretan's cover of "Adagio". Well I hate to blow your bubble but this is ALL ANGELINA JORDAN. She has said that she wants to combine her favorite genres and infuse it in her Jazz grounding. I'm quite disappointed in your opinion of the 2 songs you heard. I would suggest listening to the ENTIRE EP and then give your opinion. You seem to forget she no longer the kid you found, she's in her late teens and she's doing what we all did at that age.

I agree, AJ's EP is great but vocally it disappointed me. I dont hear her natural singing voice from " feeling good" most of the Adèle covers, and not the jazzy vibes from her etta James covers or her " fly me to the moon". It felt like it was all sacrificied to create a certain twang sound and 90% of her vocal abilities are not used. Some Angels cant say anything other than " fantastic or incredible" and may be mad. So be it! But if this is the only sound she is allowed to produce Republic records are decapitating her.

Well, after ignoring Angelina for over a year now and come in with all your negative comments on her current style is very disappointing. I can assure you that this is her current style and by her choice. If you don't approve, fine, just move on to something that meets your approval and since you haven't followed her progression anyway that should be easy for you. The entire EP is excellent and exhibits Angelina's top notch writing skills. The "Old Enough" album title says it all, Angelina is now ready to move on and conquer the world of music.

My journey with AJ stopped after 'Suspicious Minds'. I totally agree with Mother's assessment of her 'new' voice ... it's thin and shrill, her enunciation has gone transatlantic and is frankly annoying to listen to! I understand that Republic have to make back the investment they've already made in her but I'm still hoping that, when she's free of that contract, she will return to the style of singing she honed from six to sixteen which originally made such an impact on me. And that doesn't mean endless covers of 'oldies but goldies' ... artists like Norah Jones and Melody Gardot seem to be able to earn a decent living from their jazz based music without regurgitating the great American song book.
