If you noticed in the beginning she held a cup with a fifties type character. That was screaming Jay Hawkins the man who first did the song. It was to him she paid homage. If you noticed also there are times she wears flowers in her hair that is in tribute to Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday and Amy Winehouse. When she did bohemian rhapsody she wore an outfit Freddy Mercury would have worn.

This is what people do not get. Her writing on paper at the start is directions for the band - because she wanted to take the song back to its composer Screaming JH original in her interpretation. Thank you for your insightful reaction to this Angelina Jordan performance. It is obvious that you are someone who appreciates the technical and artistic aspects of vocal music. After 40+ years as a music educator and jazz musician, I would say to all young singers: Don’t try to sing like Angelina until you know how to do it. Take voice lessons and learn everything you can about vocal technique and artistic styling. If you try to do what she does before you know what you are doing, you could severely damage your voice and may never be able to sing again. Angelina has a gift that very, very few people in history have ever had. All of her physical vocal abilities and sense of musical style came with her at birth and because her family played music all the time as she was growing up. She is a force of nature. You can aspire to sing like her, but don’t push it. We would like to see and hear you on KZbin someday!

You have such a wonderful journey ahead of you discovering her over 120 videos she has made over the last six or seven years. Your reaction was perfect! We have (her fans new and old ) have each responded exactly the same! Her talent while God given was worked for by her since before she was two. She grabs your attention then your heart strings, and moves you emotionally where SHE wants you to go. Sets you back down filled with awe and wonder! Simply amazing! She is a true artist, from devotion to her craft to arrangements and performance.... At her age nearly a master in her chosen field. I cant wait to see what she has next!
