How is it that a 12 year old girl can sing of a mans lovemaking experience with his lover in a field and bring me to tears. The composer published an album of several songs, all of them only instrumentals. The last song on the album was his poem, and after he wrote it he specifically wanted only Angelina to sing it. What an honor. And what a difficult song to sing, loosly constructed musically. And this miracle child performed it with beauty and emotion. Unbelievable. She can sing anything .

Nice comment. One change in what you’ve written however. Nico Cartosio DID compose the music but the words were not his. Nico created the music in part to fit the classic poem “Rigs of Barley”, written around 1786 by the Irish poet Robert Burns. Similarly the song “ Auld Lang Syne” was originally a Robert Burn’s poem that was later set to music. BTW, the “A” in “Song For A” is for Angelina. Nico wrote this entire album with the intention of having only one song with lyrics. He specifically had Angelina in mind when he wrote this last song on the album.

I didn’t think much of this song until I delved into the back story. At age 12-13 she performed a truly classical arrangement proving Angelina can execute ANY song better than any other artist Alive today.

The first time I heard this song, I felt the same way. Since then I've come to regard it a special instance where she sings a classic poem to music written for her in particular. The composer honored her, and she accepted that honor.

The "Melting" album by Nico Cartosio was released on April 17th 2019, when Angelina was 13 years 4 months old. However, she was 12 at the time of recording 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥Btw, you're right that this was written by a poet. His name is Robert Burns, and he wrote this around 1780-1790.

Hello Sir. I am sure that Angelina's very knowledgeable fans will fill you in on the background of this beautiful performance by her. It is one of the pieces that very emphatically show her great versatility, as well as the bewildering beauty of her voice, and an ability to masterfully interpret melody and lyrics way beyond her years (she was 12 years old here). it is a complex melody, made even more challenging by the old eighteenth century-style lyrics of Scottish poet and lyricist, Robert Burns. It is the only entry on composer Nico Cartosio's classical album "Melting" that contains lyrics, and he specifically chose Angelina to perform it. It is by no means your typical "pop" song and is understandably not for everyone, but it is far easier to understand and appreciate it, and Angelina's wonderful, utterly beautiful rendition of it, if you know the background.

Vietnam Vet Sir, you have a keen sense of observation! These lyrics were, indeed, written by an outstanding poet of long ago -- the Scottish poet Robert Burns (1759-1796) who was most famous for "Auld Lang Syne," sung on New Year's Eve, his famous line "The best laid plans o'mice and men gang aft agley" ("The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry"), "My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose," "Comin' Thro' the Rye," and many others! Genius that he was, he wrote this poem while still a teenager sometime between 1771-1779, then reworked and finalized it around 1782. Nico Cartosio, who was playing the violin, set the poem to the music we hear, and personally requested Angelina to sing the song for his recording. She was, I'm fairly certain, 12 years old at the time. Incredibly beautiful and dreamy!

The original lyrics came from a poem by Robert Burns written in the 1700’s and was put to music by Nico Cartosio on his album “Melting”. “Song For A” is the only vocal on the album all other pieces are instrumentals, and they are beautiful. The song was recorded after AJ’s family moved to LA so she would have been 13 at the time. The sounds of her voice on this recording will take you places you have never been before.

Good call on the lyrics. I think it was Robert Burns late 1700's. I really like this and what you have to keep in mind is that this is a quantum leap for her musically, and at 12 or 13 very special. She had sung La Boheme but to just step in and do classical at this level is unheard of.
