The comments below describe the situation very well. The music was recorded in the Abbey Road Studios in London, with the vocal recorded in LA. Even with this separation, Angelina manged to portray the feeling of this piece - so liberating, as Nico commented, he needed an enlightened soul to deliver this mystical rendition. Maria, the lyrics of this beautiful song were originally written by the Scottish poet Robert Burns who was also the author of “Auld Lang Syne” that’s sung at New Year’s Eve. Nico Cartosio put music to it and named it “A Song for A,” which has a double meaning - A for Annie in the poem’s story, and A for Angelina because Nico commissioned it specifically for her to sing. What an honor at 13 years of age! The violinist is named John Mills. Simply a masterpiece!

I was holding my breath that you were going to stop watching when you paused it toward the end! That violin solo is breathtaking! It is believed that for this song Angelina was using her pure natural voice with no embellishments. So, no, she wasn’t trying to sound like someone else-she was just singing in her natural voice with the embellishment being the emotions that the poem evoked. Please go back and listen to this again so you don’t have to interrupt it. Mesmerizing!

Hi Maria 👋. Beautiful reaction and wonderful comments to 13 Angelina. Angie just turned 13 when recorded this in LA for Nico. This is what Nico said about the song, Back in April 2019. Song for A is the only song on the album. It is performed by Angelina Jordan, a very young and very talented singer. I needed a bright final for my instrumental album. After the series of cold hell's and Melting itself I longed for a song of a liberated soul, a soul that was set free from suffering. So, I remembered a beautiful poem by Robert Burns and wrote this song especially for Angelina. And she gave a sensual performance. We recorded the instrumental part on Abbey Road. Angelina recorded vocals later in Los Angeles. Angelina is awesome & enigmatic”- Nico Cartosio. Most people think that her voice is something from another world. Thank you for clarifying this for me (us), Nico! I've often wondered WHY so many of Angelina's fans simply "assumed" that SHE was the "A" in the title simply because she sings it. I thought "How do we know this song wasn't written for Avici, or any OTHER vocalist whose name begins with an "A"? Now I (we) know. Thanks again! 😀

This production with Angelina singing it in storyteller fashion with a voice so endearing it warms our souls is something that all Angelina 'angels' will always come back to play every once in a while. These are not typos in the text of the words, this is1700's speak and writing. (The music for the "Melting Album" was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studio in London.) “Song For A” was composed for Angelina Jordan, and her alone. The original lyrics came from a poem by Robert Burns written in the 1700’s and was put to music by Nico Cartosio on his album “Melting”. “Song For A” is the only vocal on the album all other pieces are instrumentals, and they are beautiful. The song was recorded after AJ’s family moved to LA so she would have been 13 at the time. The sounds of her voice on this recording will take you places you have never been before. It’s amazing that a well-known classical composer, Nico Cartosio, found a 12-year-old girl, Angelina Jordan, whom he thought was the best to complete his album Melting with the only song with a voice in it. He wrote the song for Angelina Jordan, thus the name "Song for A." Her voice completely draws you in. Completely breathtaking! Nico Cartoisio reportedly wrote this song for Angelina (hence the name "A Song for A") - I believe the orchestra part was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and Angelina's vocals were recorded in LA - this was shortly before or shortly after she appeared on America's Got Talent - perhaps one of the other angels can verify this.

My Dear Maria, Yesterday I just happened to have listen to this piece and re-listen, on loop, for three hour. While listening, I explored Mr. Nico Cartosio channel, to find out who wrote this moving piece. On it I found a lovely clip(The true story of composer Nico Cartosio'), of his experience going to the famous Abbey Road Studio where he recorded the instrumentals. There he met these world class musicians that produced these heavenly sounds. Short clip, worth a view. Maria, you are doing a great job covering Ms. Jordan. She seems obsessed by barley. But as long as it keeps producing songs like this and fields of gold, she can eat all the beef and barley soup she can hold. This is a very interesting song--I wonder if the lyrics are translated out of Italian. It seems to be more free verse than rhyme sceme. It sounds almost like an operetta.

One of my favourite songs by my favourite artist, Angelina Jordan. Nico Cartosio couldn’t have picked a better singer to interpret the lyrics. The violinist is John Mills and he is an amazing accomplished musician. Here is some information about him. John Mills John studied at the Royal College of Music as a scholar under professor Rodney Friend, one of the great orchestra leaders. As well as being one of the leaders of the Sinfonia of London, he works as a guest leader with groups including the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra and others. John is well known as a chamber musician and for 20 years has been the leader of the highly acclaimed Tippett Quartet, performing, and broadcasting across the UK and worldwide. He has recorded extensively, releasing 40 discs with the quartet for EMI, Decca, Somm, Naxos, Signum, Classic FM, Dutton and Guild record labels. Recent releases include highly acclaimed discs of Vaughan Williams and Mendelssohn string quartets for Somm, and Gorecki and Penderecki for Naxos. Please do not follow your impulse to ascribe the lyrics or the music to the performer. A mistake too many reactors make. 19th century Scottish poetry style is not a part of AJ's repertoire of knowledge. The words are drawn from Robert Burns Rigs Of Corn. The A refers to Annie, but left open to mean Angelina since it was created specifically for Angelina to sing.
