Angeline! A classic tune, and a great favorite of mine. This video was very chaotic, so here's the timestamps in case anyone wants to jump around in the video: fast- 0:22. super fast- 1:07, normal- 2:00, blurry footage of a centipede- 3:00, slow- 3:38. Let me know what you thought of this! Would you like me to try some slower tutorials/tune breakdowns, or just stick to normal playing?

Dr. Phoebe! Caffeine, a caterpillar, and a variable-speed dose of banjo from my favorite practitioner have made my day! Keep the variety coming: do what you like. It's all good! Much love and God's blessings to you, Doc! ♥♥♥♥♥

I like the slower version the best I also like your style of picking and I as usual am intrigued at where you choose to stage your daily banjo videos. and I can't forget your hat collection also, all these things add to your mystique. as for the tutorials that's your call, just keep in mind there are thousands of them out there already ,some really good and some really really bad. Main thing is keep doing what you're doing. I for one need your daily dose of highly spiritual boost. Thank you! Frail on!

I love your tune breakdowns before a performance of the tune itself. They add to my appeciation of this music, instrument, and channel. About the three speeds, each gave the tune a different emotional resonance that was valid by itself.

Oh how I love this music. I love it when you play slowly, not so I can learn how to play, but I just love hearing all the individual notes working together in their beautiful harmonies. This song I love slow and normal speed, and not as much fast. Also, your fascination with the centipede is such an extension of your natural curiosity and adds to the whole ambiance of this video - lol. Love it.

I enjoy whatever you do, and like the fact that you mix it up. I also really like the sound of the larger pot (12"?) banjo you've been playing more of lately. On the laid-back relaxed tunes in particular that deeper tone really resonates.

I enjoy hearing the music at different speeds since it gives off a different feel each time. I’m not listening to learn but to enjoy, so I’d choose your playing songs over your tutorial videos, but that would be a cool subset of videos you could make for your viewers who are interested in improving their playing mechanics!

Yay!! Finally a tune I already know - I've started learning some of the other ones, so it's all good. PS Your Angeline is DIVINE! PS the "slower" version (maybe that was the normal one though...) you did second (or third?) is just right for a contra dance, btw... 🥰

Pretty sure it is obvious that you play because it feels good to play. I wish everyone could experience that feeling. Part of the brain checks out, and the body takes it from there... the bond between musician and instrument is divine.

this was lovely! I don't play the banjo (yet), but I play the guitar, and the way you broke up the song and played slow is in my experience really helpful when you're trying to learn (I was never much a fan of the kind of tutorial videos where everything is over-explained, when it's a video you have the priviliege of being able to pause and go back so you can learn at your own pace, y'know?). I also enjoyed the casual talk in between the tunes and I especially enjoyed the caterpillar break :D I hope you don't stop doing tunes-only videos, but this was very charming and I for one wouldn't mind more videos like this

Really enjoy this style of video. As someone who has been picking up clawhammer (partially because of you!) this is the perfect video for my to practice along to. Don't need a whole tutorial, they're a dime a dozen. This helps me train my ear and listen to how a tune ought to be played. Would love if this type of thing could be added into the rotation of videos. Great playing as usual Phoebe

Well I am new and just found you a few days ago ''AND HAVE NOT SEEN THEM ALL'', and might even get a Banjo because of the wonderful sounds ''You'' make on it. I have a 6 string Deering banjo now so a 5 string would be new to me and will need some lessons. Yes please try a couple of lesson videos, that would be GREAT!

Second comment tonight I play mostly in double C tuning. And if I strum with no fingers on the fritz I can go to G model. Four songs that sound in a Minor like wayfaring Stranger, Cluck old hen, my friend on guitar was in G. Seemed to fit.

I love it! I am from South Africa. I googled the name of the song, if I understand correctly there is a song by Stephen Foster and then a fiddle melody, and the two are not the same? We had an old lady giving us singing class once a week at school, after she had already officially retired. She taught us all the major Stephen Foster songs (English was our second language). I still love them today, but I never heard of Angeline the Baker. Keep it up, I will pop in from time to time. Banjo's are not very well know here, though there are some bands using them. Oh, and we have more millipedes than centipedes. Here is a song for you by one of our most famous singer-songwriters. The name, Songolo is Zulu for millipede. I don't speak Zulu. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYGtYoCQdp1-pac

love the musicality you show regardless of tempo. thre is a nice intonation to your phrasing. This could be a stupid question as I dont play the banjo... but do you pick the melody with you ring and pinky and I just can't see it because the front strum fingers hide the small fingers that are on the melody?

The focus was blurry but I thought it was a millipede, too. Then again, it's been years since I had my one and only entomology class. I believe the banjo is an Ome Jubilee model. She describes it (and her other banjos) in her 10,000 subscriber Q and A video back in February. I agree it looks and sounds great.
