Update: we scored a 2nd Place finish in a field of 17 international competitors at the SascoSports International/American Challenge race. So I’d say the Vargas engine is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼

Considering the heat and the lack of jetting, that was a great pickup in performance. I’ve already dialed in the jets a bit more and this thing really rips! The knowledge these guys has is immeasurable!!!

It was hot as hell that day, Mike's a trooper & his attention to details is impressive. Car sounded much different and Erik gained about 22-23 hp with the porting Mike did. Had a blast!

Damn! Wish you guys did a quick compression check on that old engjne before pulling it out. Would be nice to see the numbers after 120hrs of racing. What apex seals was he using old and new engine?

I got mid & upper 80s on the last compression test before pulling it. Maybe we can do some follow up and crack it open!

Beautiful car. Wandering why not using the 13B-MSP, you'd be getting the 200 WHp easily... Is it class restrictions?
@erikc51012 ай бұрын
I’ve no doubts it’ll get to 200 once I get the proper jets in the carb, and moreover, once I ditch the DCOE for an IDA.

Hey guys what engine is that? I was building s/4 and s/5 na engines for customers with a 58mm down draft Webber and making up to 280 and 300 rear wheel hp. With a bridge port. And rx5 rotors 10.1 reving them to 10,000. And I built one for my self using a fd block rx5 rotors 10.1. Bridge port exhaust ported as well but I made an inlet manifold to suit a 750 double pumper Holly carby and reving it to just 10,000 and making 330 at the wheels on 98 pump fuel. I turned the hell out of it and reving it to 11,000 with 33’ of timing and it still only made 350 at the wheels. Witch is not bad for a fd engine na. Because when I turbocharged it, it made 1100 at the wheels on 22 psi. With a GT8500 series ballbearing turbo on it. And with the GT40 bb it made a nice 800 at the wheels on 20 psi. But this engine is good for up to 50 psi but I would have to run it on methanol to handle the 50 psi. Because the 98 pump fuel is only good for around the 20to 25 psi. But for street car it’s cool.

It’s an s4 street port motor and for this class they are restricted to throttle body size so we can’t run a 58mm

@@MikeVargasAngelMotorsports that’s what I thought. It’s doin great for that. I got disqualified for swapping out the carby on my rx4 sedan really car back in 1990 I took the factory 4 barrel carby off and fitted a 750 bubble pumper on it only because the book said that Holly carbs were the replacement carby for that car. So I did and it made a lot more power than the factory carby. But they disqualified me anyway. I tried to fight it but the rich guy that I beat that got me disqualified most likely paid them off. So I was that pissed off I have never been back. I started road course racing and I pissed even more people off in that. But I’m still racing and I will until the day I die! Keep up the good work lad. Oh I will send you my prototype designs and to see if you want to build one?? I’m still working it out and I’m just putting a 13b together just to make sure everything works as it should. I will be doing up a video of it and the testing. But this prototype will work best with Efi. Because it’s a dry port engine. It will still work fine with a carby. But it may not make the same power and fuel efficiency. Hmm maybe I should try it with a carby just to see what happens?? Anyways lad Cain hard!

It actually isn’t running bad at all, I just couldn’t wait to put the new one in and wanted to do it in time to make sure I had a reliable spare motor to take with me to races.
