True story, mid eighties, our band was playing CB's, late afternoon/evening, roughly 18 audience members leaning against the walls arms folded and F*ckn Fish Bone walks into the place and proceed to dance their asses off to our terrible music. I think they were headlining The Palladium that day and killing some time before the show. Angelo, Norwood etc. came backstage and hung with us after and were just the sweetest coolest guys you can imagine.

Good job getting this interview with Angelo! Fishbone is one of my favorite bands. This is a great idea for a KZbin channel and I wish you plenty of guests and success

I saw Fishbone in 2005 at Fat Tuesday's in Spokane, Washington. The band endured a pretty massive delay getting to the venue (blizzard conditions). A local ska group (Ten Minutes Down) was opening for them and played a longer than normal set, then afterwards the crowd waited for Fishbone to show up. The delay continued for awhile and after another hour or so Fishbone finally took the stage to a very sparse crowd. Wasn't the best show, but on the plus side I got a pic with Angelo afterwards

July 1996 - Ithaca, NY at The Haunt. Angelo passed out right in front of me. Before fully passing out, he was on the floor singing Ugly into his hand as though the mic were still in it. They got him out of there and it's true, the band kept playing. They did Party at Ground Zero with a couple of guys from the audience (and a local band) singing, then they did one or two songs they could do without Angelo (like The Goose), and then they wrapped it up. I caught up with Angelo about two weeks later on the Warped Tour and asked him what happened. "Da heat!" I assume this was the show he was referring to, but I'm sure it could have happened more than once.

Jeff here - I went to Ithaca College and saw many shows at the haunt though this was a year before my time. Thanks for this story!

I distinctly remember seeing them on July 31 1996 at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor MI, so pretty close to your Ithaca show. I remember it so well because it was the hottest (temperature-wise) concert I've ever been to. The walls were sweating. Numerous people passed out. Especially those drinking alcohol, which is the worst thing to hydrate yourself with. But Angelo never wavered. So much fun. I had to basically peel my clothes off afterwards.

Angelo love you man. That's some shit tho. You been through a lot. We are all human. We all mess up sometimes (literally) and we all have messed up stuff happen to us. Got to have enough love in us and others to forgive ourselves and others. As messed up as that was that the band didn't halt the performance for you forgive them. I'm sure there are times they did good by you. Love you. Love the music ya'll have given to us.

When i was 16 i saw Fishbone play with Adam Ant. I managed to sneak backstage and hang with Angelo during the Adam Ant show. After the show, Angelo said he missed his ride and asked me if id drive him home. So of course, i said "yes". So i drove him to his dads house in South Central LA. Once there he invited me inside and then we smoked out while listening to Ska albums. That was one of the greatest days & stories of my life up to that point. 😂

I was at that gig in Worcester. I was at the top of the stairs another band was playing and someone almost knocked me down the stairs. I thought it was my boys playing around but I turned around and they were no where near me so I was ready to slap someone. They saw how mad I got and started laughing and pointed to Angelo stumbling through the crowd in that striped jail suit. They got on stage and I think he only did 1 song then they Jammed the rest of the show with Dre Gipson, I believe, takin over vocals.

I saw them in Jersey right after the Rodney King verdict. No happy songs that night, understandably.

I was hoping he would talk about the Outhouse in Lawrence, KS. The outhouse was a broken down maintenance shed for tractors. It also served as a gathering place for all ages punk shows. THE best live performance EVER was from Fishbone and Micheal Franti group called the Beatn!gs. I remember hearing they were nervous as hell being a round a bunk of white kids in the middle of a corn field! Amazing man, Amazing band!

They claim that they weren't as successful as no doubt and other 90 s bands, because people are racists but they just weren't that good . They look cool, but kinda like funkadelic, the music is too chaotic. Thats Why they play for free these days. They are playing Denver May 6
