Acquired my first Angelonia yesterday. Mine’s the blue bi-color, which reminds me so much of wild violets. I’m adding mine to mini hybrid petunias and a lemon-coral sedum which both will trail over the pot. Im super excited to try this in my containers as well as perhaps in the cottage garden alongside my larkspur. Exciting plant!!

I bought my first summer snapdragon a few months ago at a local nursery. It’s been looking terrible lately but thanks to your video I now know to put some fertilizer on it! Still a lot of bloom time left here in central texas.

First year i've grown angelonia, i got 2 little plants at my little country nursery i always go to. The girl that owns it is an old family friend. She is so sweet and flowers and plants always do so good for me. She told me and my sister they came back every year. Ive done some research on it and its a annual. But thats ok, cause they are si very beautiful and very easy to grow. It said you could harvest the tiny seeds and plant them in the spring after danger of frost is gone. So i think i got seeds from them, just cut the long stem dead heads off today actally. They are on my kitchen table on some paper towels drying. It sure is worth a try. I have the beautiful purple with white. ❤

Hey guys I've been hiding out with Olympic fever. I am also an Angelonia nut. Have used them year after year but I put mine in the ground.

When the flowers are spent, do you prune the plants anytime to the base of the plant? Like a mound for it to rebloom again?

Hi ..I’m always watching your videos 👍 thanks. I purchased 2 of these this yr as my normal plants suffered from this heat. They are already large .. ?? Do the stems that die off need trimming out?? Thanks

I transplanted mine last week. I live in Florida. It’s not really getting to many new flowers. What is something I can do to make it bloom more or is it that time of year we’re they aren’t blooming anymore? It’s usually 80-90s here. Should I fertilize it?
@judyingram-kh1vm Жыл бұрын
Yes, fertilizer them, I looked them up on Google just today and you can use miracle grow or whatever you fertilizer your annuals with. I like miracle grow. Use it about every 2 weeks. I get the kind you mix with water.❤ I used some on mine today. The green looks big and lush but it's just barely flowering.❤

In the fall do you cut down or pull plants? I hope to save some seeds. Many thanks 😊

Angelonia grow rather large. One plant can easily outgrow a 12 inch pot. Great plant.

Can Angelonia be brought in to the indoors over winter and be brought back out come spring??
@julievoracek14973 жыл бұрын
Can you harvest seeds from these? What would be the process? I have several right now and would like to consider trying.
@SpokenGarden3 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie! 👋 Thank you for watching and really good question. Angelonia start to flower from the bottom each stem and then each flower progresses to open over time as you go up the stem. Knowing this, you can start looking to collect seed by finding the oldest flowers or now their seed pods down on the lower part of the stem. Look for literal round pods that should be lightly brown, but not open. You can pluck/pinch each one of these off the stem to then gently open the pod over a paper towel or in a white bowl, as the seed might pop out. That's it! Be aware that some Angelonia will have more viable seed than others, depending on how it was bred and grown. Hope that helps and have fun harvesting your Angelonia seeds! 😃👍

i have 3 in the ground that are pink and doing amazingly well ! but will they die in the winter? should i leave them and hope they grow back?

I clicked on this bcuz it mentioned pruning them. I have been putting angel fade in the ground for years now but this yr I noticed blossoms disappearing. Not doing anything different, if it’s bugs can you recommend anything to combat?

How and when should I prune my Angelonia?
@SpokenGarden3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah! 👋 Thank you for watching our video and asking your question. 😊 Generally, you can prune your angelonia in the very early spring right before it starts growing and all threat of frost has past. There are some who say to prune it back also in the fall, but if you have any possibility of freezing temps, pruning in the fall can expose open tissue to those cold temps that can lead to freeze damage. Also, any hard pruning in the fall of most plants can stimulate new growth and that tissue won't be hardy enough to endure any hard freezes. Hope that helps and thank you again for watching and commenting! 👍😃
