I had absolutely NO idea that there was anyone, anywhere, that still did this properly. I volunteered to shine my father's shoes. I loved doing it. Such satisfaction. But for the last 15-20 years, I've not seen anyone but military folks do it. Such a shame. It's becoming a lost art. And, it IS an art. I started to learn when I was 4 or 5. By the time I was 8 or so, I could get a military approved shine on his shoes. SO satisfying. But, that was 50 years ago. With all of the changes in expectations, I can't believe there's anyone that still takes it seriously. All the love to you, my friend, for keeping this art alive. And it IS an art. I mean, come ON! You even do the laces! I haven't seen anyone do that for the last 50 years! Yes, I've seen folks polish shoes, but only to the most minimum. NEVER the laces. My hat off to you and with the deepest respect. Burnishing the traditional way? Are you F'n kidding! So much respect.

There’s a lot of shoeshiners in Portugal too especially in the bigger cities. It’s really rare we see younger people doing the job, I personally only seen 1 or 2 but usually it’s dominated by the older generation. In the city I was born in we had a 82 year old gentleman still working the profession

Just found this channel . ..ive been an ASMR watcher for about five years now…litterally consume about 8 hours daily due to anxiety /insomnia…..I litterally get maybe 12 hours of sleep in a week and its been this way for at least 12 years…..id be dead if not for being born with a pretty damn tough body….im about to turn 62 . Anyway, you are my knew favorite channel and Ill just loop your videos so they play for hours now every day .. and I love your beautiful shoe work…..when my father passed away I inherited a big metal box that contains everything he needed to keep his workboots beautiful….he worked on the railroad …( we are of Irish heritage 🤣) and he always had the cleanest shiniest workboots …when he was 6 years old back in 1941 he had a box and foot holder and stool and shined shoes after he got out of school…yelling out shine, shine as men passed on the sidewalk in the town! Your doing a great job and your channel is doing a tremendous help to people such as myself👍🏻👍🏻😁Im so glad I discovered your channel!
