How to Use Hydro Sublimation Sheets on Tapered Tumblers

Ever wanted to make a full wrap sublimation design on a tapered tumbler? Hydro Sublimation Sheets may be the answer to all of your issues. I am sharing how to use these pre-printed sublimation sheets on a few different projects. We will also discuss the pros and cons of using these sheets as they are definitely not perfect. But they are fun to play with and I think you may enjoy this method of sublimation with no printer required!

Once again. You did a nice job showing yet another creative product that might help solve the issues some crafters have with getting these tapered or various sized tumblers to look more presentable. Very informative but I'm not planning on trying this for my crafting. It looks a bit like decoupage and I tried and failed that years ago. Thank you Angie for your in sites to new ideas.

Hi Angie! The Tumblers turned out fantastic. I love the Taller watercolor look with the creases, looks like part of a marbling design. I would put creases in the entire Tumbler. They all turned out great. Thank you for doing this Tutorial. 🤗 Dee B

Putting creases intentionally on the entire thing could be a solution!

I used the PYD pattern paper on a 20oz tumbler without any water and it came out great! I watched Delonda do it and wanted to see if it would work. I want to try it with water now to see if there is a difference.

I think the water just helps it conform to the curves if you have them. I probably would not use water on a 20 oz skinny tumbler or use very little.

How do you remove the shrinkwrap in case it got stuck on the tumbler? Looks great!

I usually try to heat it up a little with a heat gun to get it to soften.

I like the various colored/designed sheets but would it be possible to customize it further by putting a sublimated image or name on top? Essentially sublimating the blank twice.

I have on my list to do a video on sublimating over sublimation. It is tricky and can lead to fading unfortunately!

I find it an interesting product... I've been eyeballing it recently myself..tysvm for doing this video.. I'm definitely going to grab some now 😉 I was curious about adding words to it before or after or during the process is possible?..i saw one tutorial before that said to add words first(with reg ink transfer).. but i wonder how or if it would work the same with this new hydro sub product.. I would use a heat transfer mask to mask them off. Then you would have white words.

Once you sublimate something it is permanent so not really a way to fix it.

What would you consider to be Heat resistant Vinyl, I am relatively new to sublimation on mugs and tumblers?

PYD life sells one actually. I wanted to add that note as some may melt in the oven and leave a mess! There is also a heat mask from Artesprix that would work.

Why do you put the 1st piece of tape on the back side? I haven't seen that done before.

It helps with the seam. That way you don't sublimate too much in that area with the overlap.

If the tape side goes down first does it sublimate through the tape? Maybe I saw that wrong.

Tape is on the BACK of the print. That area is applied first and overlap on top. That way you don't have TWO layers of sublimation in that area making a dark seam.
