Use the siser white easyweed and the Clear Dye sub vinyl together ;) Extra steps involved but it will work if you want to sublimate on black cotton. Cut out the pattern on both the easyweed and the clear dye sub vinyl. Press the siser easyweed first, then the clear dye sub on top of that, and then sublimate on it.

I would probably just use Siser Easy Subli as I have had luck with that in the past.

@@AngieHolden Yes 1000% the easysubli is the best I have used so far for sublimation on colored 100% cotton tees, no question about it. And I can confirm that using the clear dye sub vinyl on top of the white sister easyweed htv does work, I literally just made a shirt ... HOWEVER, I would not recommend (nor will I ever do it again) it due to the time it takes trying to get it all to line up perfectly due to the vinyl shrinking as we all know it does (whew that was a task) and also the color was very muted and gave almost a vintage look, which is cool but not what I like. I like my colors to POP!. So, I too will stick with easysubli :)

I have wondered about this, does the adhesive for the permanent vinyl still work well even after being exposed to the heat of sublimation? Are you sublimating onto the vinyl before peeling and sticking it to whatever surface you are placing them on?

@@anthonygrimaldi9483 Yes the adhesive still works. Quite well actually. Is it for 100% colored cotton items to help the color come through more? Just trying to wrap my mind around this concept. For some reason, it isn't clicking for me. Also, I do not own a cricut, looks like I need one if I want to cut HTV to use for my sublimation items? Sorry so many questions, but I trust your input!

Sublimation is for polyester items. For shirts, at least 65% polyester would be optimal. Also, you have to have a white or very light colored shirt for sublimation to work as it is see through. For those, like me, who don't know what HTV means, it is Heat Transfer Vinyl. This is a vinyl layer bonded by heat to fabric, as opposed to a sublimation print that is transferred as dye onto fabric with the use of heat. This should give some context. The dye lasts much longer than the vinyl. In the dyed print, you will need a sublimation printer ($200 on Amazon for cheap one), special ink, and sub paper, all cheap. In the HTV vinyl print, you can use a regular printer, sublimation printer, any ink, and vinyl sheets instead of paper. I have never done any sublimation processes. Please correct me if I am wrong on these facts. This is my understanding.

Sorry I have no idea! You can always put paper in between the layers of your shirt.

Hi Angie, great video as always. I have a quick question - do you change the printer setting when you print on the clear HTV? Thanks
@AngieHolden2 жыл бұрын
I don't print on the clear HTV. I am just sublimating on it. And I use the same printer settings for my sublimation printer as I am using the same sublimation paper.

@@AngieHolden OK, thanks. I used Thermoflex frosty clear on a T shirt, then (using A sub paper) sublimated my image on the Thermoflex following the instructions, but the colors were way off and dark. I'll keep experimenting on old shirts.
@AngieHolden2 жыл бұрын
I did not experience the same thing. I didn't have the frosty in this video though. It was the regular clear.

Hi I am new to sublimation. When you sublimate over the clear dye sub, will the clear dye sub raise after a while like regular htv does?
@AngieHolden2 жыл бұрын
It is just an HTV so it will perform similarly!

If you are printing from Design Space, you will need to do print then cut.

Hi Angie, I am beginner. If I dont have cricut, how can I print image on t shirt? Thanks
@AngieHolden3 жыл бұрын
If you have a sublimation printer, you don't need a Cricut for white and light polyester shirts. For dark and cotton, I am not sure if there is a good option as all of the products need to be cut.

You can use any HTV on dark colors but you would want something white to sublimate on.
