Glad to hear no one was hurt other than the loss of the car. Amazing build. This is why I always carry a fire extinguisher in my cars. I learned this lesson from my autocross days. Element has some amazing products that are almost invisible compared to the older style extinguishers.

You'd need a massive one to put out a fire of that scale. At least a 10 lb. Your typical 2.5 lb ones found in cars will do nothing for a fire of this scale even if you had it in your hand and hopped right out to battle the inferno.

@@scottguenther-lee2214 I also recommend carrying a pair of scissors in the glove compartment because in the invent of a rollover and the vehicle catching fire and the seatbelt becoming jammed. It is very easy to cut the seatbelt with a pair of scissors ✂️ this was already saved my friends life

Angie, you are a true racer, no fear! This happened to me in the 70's. I bought my dream car as a senior in high school, a 1957 356-A Porsche. I did most of the work myself, except the engine overhaul. I stripped the paint off myself and my brother painted it. Because of its rear engine, I didn't see the smoke. I did notice the engine was sputtering, I looked back and saw the smoke. I was a half a block away from home. I was told the fire was shooting up above my car. Luckily, only the engine cover was was damaged. The fire stopped when I turned off the car. There was a piece of duct tape the mechanic covered the hole on one of the air cleaners, (balance tube from the left to right side air cleaner). When the accelerator would squirt onto it. Insurance said it was an electrical fire. Looking forward to seeing the restoration, good luck!

This car is literally my favorite car in Honda/Acura. I even have the Tomica Diecast model of the 2016 Honda NSX. I love both the classic and modern one. But I'm glad you're safe and i felt sad when your NSX broke down. But what's important is no one is harmed.

Sad to see what happened to the NA1 NSX. Glad you were spared! 90s cars should really need to be checked tightly as they are very fragile considering their rising value. Also I remember in 2009 Richard Gutierrez was spared when his R35 GTR crashed onto a tree and his driver was killed instantly.

What a sad day. Hate to see such an iconic car burnt to the ground. But at least you’re safe. Many years ago there’s one totally original black NSX in an immaculate conditions parking in my building (next to his F355, also in black). I wished I looked for the owner and ask him to let me be the first to know whenever he decided to parted with his NSX but I thought he’s never gonna sell her. To my surprised, the car was sold several months later and I’m still kicking myself till today.

I had a car do that, sitting in a parking lot. Wasn't a driveshaft. It was a VERY minor power stearing leak, that was ever so slowly making its drip to the catalytic convertor. Contrary to popular belief OIl will combust. ATF fluid too.

In my country, Brazil, it was mandatory to have a fire extinguisher in the car, but a few years ago they removed this requirement, now new cars no longer come with a fire extinguisher.

I would have added a built-in fire suppression system as part of the mod. That way you could deploy it rapidly in case of fire, like Phoenix did with her bird strike in Top Gun: Maverick.

the problem with coils is they get overloaded, the only way to prevent it from burning is disconnecting the spark plug boots from the spark plug

There might be some faulty wiring that caused the fire. Because even if the car has overheated. It will not burn like that. That's only my speculation. But thank God you're not hurt, not even a scratch and no one was hurt.

Damn Angie thats horrible it was just a gorgeous car!! I know how you feel my NSX wasn't burned but right after we put a 600hp big turbo K series with a sequential trans in it I got rear ended on the hwy and not only almost died it was completely totalled so I feel your pain!!!
