if online study was allowed during my college years i would have absorbed more information better. sadly when we have quizzes our professors kept demanding we depend on books and avoid online sources. today new students are encouraged to learn online and just verify from books when there is inconsistency... i was born in the wrong age perhaps.

So this is the 3rd video I've seen that describes angina as "aching or squeezing" feeling. Yet every cardiologist I've ever seen for my angina and heart problems told me angina is usually SHARP pain, and that heart attacks are usually the aching or pressure feeling.
@visualscenes2 жыл бұрын
So what's your condition now?
@SolidSiren2 жыл бұрын
@@visualscenes I have had angina most days of my life for past 12 years. I have an ascending aortic aneurysm, right at where my aorta leaves my heart. It's scary bc if it ruptures, I'll likely bleed out internally before the EMT even arrives according to doctors. I also have a leaky valve. My cardio never told me what the cause of my angina is, but said not to worry unless it *changes*. I don't take any medication, they monitor my aneurysm (enlarged aorta, weak aortic wall bulging) twice a year. Once the diameter reaches a certain size, I will need open heart surgery with bypass machine. Huge scar. Unless they can give me a new version of the surgery that is less invasive. My angina is in the exact same spot every time, like EXACT. It usually only lasts a few seconds but sometimes it lasts an hour and I have to lay down. It doesn't come from exertion, it usually happens when I'm totally calm, just sitting there.

You know how at 4:58 you say that injury to myocytes is irreversible, would it be fair to say that in prinzmetal angina there is a risk of myocardial infarction? Because yes in stable and unstable angina there is no actual infarction, but there can potentially be in prinzmetal depending on the amount of constriction and duration?

Unsatble angina not relieved nitroglycerin pls check :)
@ابوسرنجة2 жыл бұрын
Agreed
@Ashz967 жыл бұрын
I thought Nitro glycerines treat angina by reducing afterload and therefore reducing O2 demand rather than by vasodilation of coronary arteries as surely these would be fully dilated in an attack of angina??
@alexanderadriel7 жыл бұрын
Nitroglycerin causes smooth muscle to relax, reducing both afterload (peripheral resistance) and resistance in coronary arteries. Therefore yes, it works by reducing demand while increasing supply.

If unstable angina causes permanent damage, elevation of cardiac troponins will follow. Then, you have infarction.
