You remind me so so much of my Uncle TH. He drove a Metro bus in Joliet Illinois for 25 yrs plus. He lived next to the Kankakee River in northern Illinois. He'd rather fish than eat or sleep. When he retired, then he moved to Florida with his wife on the Gulf side. He only lived a few years after moving, but his wife told me at his funeral hardly a day went by he wasn't fishing. This is one of the reasons I enjoy your videos so much, it shows me where my Uncle TH went to play.

I’m so shocked I’m seriously in Kankakee IL working at Nucor steel building the new caster Joliet is 40 Mins away so crazy to see this! How’s the Kankakee river for fishing? Me and some buddy’s been wanting to but we are from Texas and don’t know anything about the river here

Use pliers to hold the tail or step on it with shoes
@scottmichael37452 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have a leather glove and just hold them by the tail and flip them over and remove the hook. They don't have teeth and if you're controlling the tail, they can't do anything. Out of the water they're pretty easy to deal with, now IN the water, well I walk around em! Lol.

Thanks for making videos where you are fishing at accessable public areas👍👍!!!! As a northerner who only get to the salt 1 or 2 times a year it's great to see that catching fish is possible and not all good fishing is at hidden spots known only to locals.

I caught about a 90 lb. Stingray on the NC Outer Banks last gall. It nearly spooled me twice and took 30 minutes to lad and I have a video of the entire fight. Caught with a vintage Shimano SSG7000 saltwater rear drag reel. I’ve got an 11’ Ninja Dagger last year. I couldn’t believe how light it was. I mostly like it but I wish the rod had more handle length to the front of the reel toward the tip. I like having more handle to grip as opposed to a slick rod blank. That big ray I caught never buried itself but kept on fighting. It finally broke a swivel on my rig and flapped back in the water. I was glad I did not have to get near its massive barb. Great video Brent!

Hi Brant I love it when I use more than 1 rod and get hooked up on all of them normally there is someone walking the beach that will assist in landing the fish for me. I now have something I have never owned but always wanted a Penn spinning reel it is a Fierce III 8000 I won in a local drawing going to pair it to a ugly stick elite 6'6" jigging rod for off shore fishing I might get a surf rod to pair it with as well just not sure what size surf rod would work with it.

@kevinmueller67372 жыл бұрын
If you ever get a stingray that buries itself, pull your line tight and pluck it like a guitar string. That will usually cause them to unbury themselves and start swimming again. I think they react to the vibration and don't like it. I've had it work several times.
