I was talking to Dio back in 1992-93(?) After his show in Portland at an after hours party at the Starry Night and all he wanted to talk about was his fishing trip for steelhead in the morning on the Clackamas River. I wasn't a metal rocker at all but all the metal dudes were stupid drunk chasing women or just plain rude so i (mr. Joe boring )talked fishing with him. He sat on the bar and i just stood there listening. He was real excited. I lived by the river so i could talk about it. He was really cool. I think he enjoyed talking to someone who knew nothing about him or his music. We talked fishing ! I love telling my metal friends that story.

Summer still had fishing on this river has been terrible for years most people don't even bother fishing after early spring

This one contribution to the horrible runs of today in 2024,I've left a comment on the clackamas odfw website, and the clackamas hatchery comments and I also recently I talked to the clackamas hatchery about them raising coho for the Astoria run,and not the clackamas run,so they are raising coho for a completely different fishery,and eagle creek raises 850,000,coho smolts, and they release 350,000 into the eagle creek in clackamas county, and the rest 500,000 of the coho smolts go to the Yakima in Washington so oregonians are paying taxes which would b federal to a run that is shipped out of state,take our hatcheries back

You guys should definitely come down to the umatilla river in Eastern Oregon our river is managed by the umatilla tribe and they have done a great job at maintaining our healthy steelhead/salmon population. Our river boast large returns of brooder size steelhead each year. It's a great river too since the tribe is nice and lets us keep wild salmon as well.

I went to the nestucca today and it was garbage. Saw 1 jump in 5 hrs and didn’t get a bite. Ditched that river and headed to the Trask and caught some cutthroat.
