Nice, Nick. I've caught a bazillion redtails, and zero flounder ... though one time I caught a sand dab that was barely bigger than the 2" Gulp sandworm it swallowed. It was hilarious because it was so small that it was translucent, and you could see the sandworm taking up half of its insides.

Sheesh Nick. You got me remembering when I was a kid fishing The Puget sound. I dreamed about having a big rig like that big surf rig of yours. I kind of ended up being a level wind guy. #FishFinAddicts

Good vid and thanks for sharing. May I ask where is this beach. When visited Seattle three weeks ago my friend took me to Ocean shore just next to a jetty. The waves just liked a washing machine. I used Carolina rig with 3/4 oz slide sinker just like what I usually do in Southern California. This light tackle set up could not get me any fish for the entire day.😂
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
Thank you, unfortunately there will always be those days where you can't catch a fish regardless of what you use or throw at them. I think it'd spoil the fun if it were always easy. And it's tough to catch fish on those days when the water just looks like a washing machine anyhow. Hopefully your next outing is productive. This is sunset beach, just south of Astoria

I fish this beach between posts 3 and 5 usually...but I havent had much luck fiunding those troughs elsewhere. Anyone ever fish off the jetty at the astoria end of the beach? Also, what bag are you using to keep those fish in? I dont like walking all the way back to the truck or to a bucket, lol...

The columbia River South jetty is an awesome spot to surf fish. But there is a lot of construction from them fixing the jetty
@asully70 Жыл бұрын
Fish Field sells a nice surf fishing bag for over your shoulder. Kinda nice. I’ve used a clam bag attached to my wader belt before (which looks like what Nick is using) and the more fish you catch the the looser and lower you belt sags. Kinda annoying.
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
Finding those troughs can be tough sometimes. You almost need to get there at low tide and scope everything out like I did in this video. It can be a huge advantage. Sometimes you just need to really pay attention to what the water and waves are doing. They will show you what the bottom looks like. I have fished off that jetty, in fact that’s where I caught the flounder earlier in the week that I mentioned in this video. It has its times. There are a lot of little silver perch over there too. The bag I’m using is actually just the mesh bag that my waders were in when I got them. I use it for surf fishing and for clamming. Not the best choice but it was free and works until I pick up something better. As mentioned below, it DOES become loose when it’s around your wader belt and the more fish you add makes it super annoying.
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
It definitely has its good and bad times, but easy access. I can’t wait until they are done with the construction. That jetty is HUGE!
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
I definitely need to look into an actual fishing bag. This one IS just around my wader belt and then clipped again on the wader belt loop. It works for a couple fish but sags way too much and becomes insanely annoying. I’ll have to look into the fish field ones

I really like your saltwater vids like this and the rockfish & lingcod ones! What do you think are the best conditions to fish in the PNW from the beach and/or the rocks? I built an algorithm / website that predicts how good the next few days (1 week) will be for fishing from shore, and I'm interested to compare and see how it does 🤔

@@aaronchilds4539 I heard it was because of ALASKA..... A lawsuit has been filed because Alaska is OVER-FISHING. They make it seem like they need fish to survive because it is "The Last Frontier" and they are living off the land, but what is really going on is they are commercially fishing ALL OUR SALMON! STEALING OUR FISH! It said that we have been FOR YEARS putting many different methods and efforts into increasing the salmon population along the West Coast because the salmon are becoming endangered. While every year ALASKA steals all of the fish that were Native to California, Oregon, and Washington as well as BC!!!! All to keep making millions every year to keep up with the world's demand for their "Alaska Caught Salmon"! That is ridiculous dude! Go get your own damn fish ALASKA! STOP STEALING OURS! Make's sense now why the fish population is decreasing because greedy people like that taking fish for money! If you want to fish for YOURSELF to eat your catch that is one thing, but when you start being so greedy the fish could DISAPPEAR FOREVER just to fulfill your greedy little needs... Someone has to stop it and call you out you know what I mean! BC, California, Oregon and Washington can't even fish A LOT of time each year due to restrictions and IT IS BECAUSE ALASKA IS ROBBING US! SHADY!!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 Oh yeah, and NICE VIDEO as always! 😂

@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
Hope you are/were able to get out and find some fish. I always enjoy getting out into the surf during the summer. I think I was about knee deep most of the time in this video. It really does depend on where the waters at though. I started more shallow and thought I'd be casting close, but it turned into wading out further and casting far to get to the fish.
