Seeing Tom skip Duplicator hurt my soul a bit, ngl. One of the best items in the game! He also seemed underwhelmed by the birds, when they did almost twice as much damage as the rest of his weapons combined! xd

I'll write about the Castlevania references behind the weapons and items that Tom has picked up in this session. - Peachone: I don't know where this name came from, but doves do exist in Castlevania as the main weapon of Maria (from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night), where she throws them at skeletons and mermans. No lasers, no missiles. Just a white bird smashing into enemies and bosses. - Ebony Wings: The name of an original soundtrack from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (OoE). In that game, the song only plays when the main character is about to obtain a pair of "ebony wings" that allows her to fly. No, it does not shoot lasers. - Vandalier: Though there are no rainbow birds in Castlevania, the method of obtaining Vandalier does exist in one title, Order of Ecclesia. In that game, the main character has the ability (Union) to combine two different weapons into one powerful weapon that contains elements of the weapons she has equipped (eg. fire spell + sword = flaming sword attack). So for Vandalier to have both Peachone and Ebony Wings's laser barrage patterns is a fitting nod to this system. - Runetracer: Also known as Rebound Stone or Diamond in Castlevania, and functions the same. - Magic Wand/Holy Wand: Hilariously, there is only one wand item in the entirety of Castlevania. And it doesn't even fire magic missiles. Instead, the wand is used as a key to unlock treasure chests. - Candelabra: An iconic item in the Castlevania series, where coins, hearts, weapons and sometimes food can be found. - Spinach: It exists in Castlevania, but only in tinned form. Guess that reference. - Empty Tome: Another item that's the name of an original soundtrack from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Something tells me one of the developers of Vampire Survivor is a fan of that title, which is cool. If I were to explain the meaning behind this song, Tom may retch and hurl. And I don't want to do that. - Clover: This item does not exist in the games, but variations do. One of them was called Clover Ring, found in Order of Ecclesia (again), and it boosts luck. How surprising. - Heaven's Sword: This item has been around since Symphony of the Night, and works exactly the same as it's Vampire Survivor counterpart. - Pummarola: You should look up the translation for this item's name. Strangely, the translated name item does exist in some Castlevania titles as a "vegan option" for vampires. As for the red heart? That's a reference to Castlevania's heart system, which is like a mana pool for sub-weapons like Axes, Crosses, Knives and Rebound Stone. - Spellbinder: I have never seen this item in any Castlevania game ever, and I consider myself an obsessive fan of Castlevania. If anyone has read this far, give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

Red Death, the character he's playing, is only unlocked if you manage to kill Death at the end and Tom didn't record him doing that, or like he said he lost the footage, either way AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

They are one of the highest dps weapons and they work great in a lawnmower build. The downside is that it takes a LOT of good rng to get them online.

At the end screen, you can see the rainbow bird did more damage than all his other weapons combined

The rainbow bird deals more dps for me in every game i use them than any other weapon, with the only exception being dual lightning ring occasionally.

They're a lot of work for not a lot of pay-off. After their 24 collective upgrades plus one evolution, they are about as good as the evolved axe comboed with any other zone weapon. They're not terrible, just not very good, since they can really hold you back until combined.

missing n0 the "other" death is honestly a hilarious unlock because it's stats are random each time. sometimes you can just be invincible or have no spawns at all, or just die because you spawn with low hp and degen within a few seconds.

@@kitsunekaze93 Personally I grind in the library, works great with bones & cherry bombs, with the right build you can basically AFK. Usually get 6-7k on a run. Still not super fast, but not bad either.

The lion wheel is called Buer, it appears in many Castlevania games (for those who didn't catch it - VS is 90% a Castlevania reference). According to some 16th century book, Buer is a president of hell, which is a fun detail. Can't wait for Buer to appear in Helluva Boss :P

For anyone who maybe doesn't have a computer but wants to play this, I'd heavily recommend the mobile game Magic Survival! Similar in premise, the English translation is a little rough but readable, the magic upgrades you get all feel really powerful (mostly anyways) and the only time you're gonna see an ad is if you die in like under 5 minutes or you can opt to watch one for a free revival! Its really fun!

I bought this game because of you lol [edit] The red gem replaces whatever gem is the farthest away from you at the time of killing too many mobs (The game will only allow so many gems to drop to keep the load light on the PC) Also the chests will only give you upgrades to things you already have gotten from leveling.
