Agreed 100% with your words! Angra has such an amazing musicianship within. An interest fact is that they exploded in Japan before Brazil, because Andre's former band (Viper) was a huge success there. To me they are side to side with great bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc... They do sound different but they all have those special factor (flavour) which is hard to replicate or listen in other bands

The best angra albums apart from temple of shadows for me is Holy Land and Aqua. They might be mellower but these albums are filled with that authentic Angra sounds. Temple of shadows is definitely one of their greatest album but like you said it can sound like european metal. But with Holy Land and Aqua. It's just pure authenticity. I understand that Holy Land is indeed regarded as one of their best and Aqua is underrated but please do give it a try as well. Start with Awake from darkness or Rage of the waters and hopefully you'll listen to all of them as well. Aqua is rather difficult to appreciate and may take a while for most to understand but i guarantee that that album is gold.
@guilhermecaran33635 жыл бұрын
I would add Angels Cry instead of Aqua in the top 3. Aqua is a decent record but lacks in production in general and specifically, the drums and vocal parts. Confessori was regular and couldn't reach the creation level of the former drummer. Falaschi had voice/health issues in that period and couldn't perform well. The album concept and composition was very good, though. I really want to see Lione (the actual singer) singing more Aqua songs. My idea is that the band coul use his tenor reach/tone to play them in a metal opera style (some of songs like "Ashes", "Spirits of the air" and "A monster in her eyes" are perfect for opera)
@uchihaitachidan5 жыл бұрын
@@guilhermecaran3363 i can agree about production quality. But about Confessori's drumming, I personally think it's very creative. He didn't utilize modern technical and agressive drum lines like Aquiles Priester that we all love, but he was being true to angras sound, more grooves, dynamics, creative accent displacements. Honestly, i thought so too at first. I love Aquiles' style and i didn't like aqua's drumming, but it just grew on me, i started appreciating it the more i listen to the album. It feels like everytime i listen to the album i can hear new things, I realize that Aquiles' drumming was easier to understand because it's very straight forward and the flourishes are mostly on the down beats, but with confessori, he creatively play with accents both on upbeats and down beats, he has the subtlety that Aquiles often lacks, not discrediting aquiles, I mean imagine spirit of the air, weakness of a man, awake from darkness, ashes, or Lease of life with Aquiles, i mean literally most of the album apart from maybe arising thunder, i doubt it's gonna work. the only problem about the drums is the drum sound, which is mostly due to the production. Simply put, Aquiles is great for the more straight forward, heavy, and technical side, his creativity is more on how he utilizes techniques and creatively plays with basic rudiments to add dimension to the songs, while Confessori is more on how he plays with the rhythm, accents, dynamics, and he breaks up rudiments for that. It's like two very opposite styles. And about edu's vocals, not gonna lie, it's not his best performance, but personally there's just something about edu's voice that i find very special. It's like the command of his voice, i can't imagine Fabio singing Hollow or Arising thunder but i do agree that fabio could sing Ashes and spirit of the air very well. Anyway, that's how i see it. No need to stress things out, it just ends up to preference i guess. I love both drummers. I just thought the drum works in aqua is very underrated. cheers.
