She says she had a clinic to attend - you ever waited in a hospital clinic...... doctors are ALWAYS late, patients are told to expect a wait of upto 4 hours. And of all the other colours of emergency lights a green light is one of the hardest to get your hands on for the simple reason that they are so rare that many people have no idea of what they represent so for a driver to be allowed one they have to complete an advanced driving course and pass a second test.

I don't get why this guy is so concerned about people doing this maneuver. It isn't the smartest move ever but everything is at such a low speed at that junction that any real danger is almost non existent. There are far more dangerous driving maneuvers he could spend his time on.

Being a Doctor doesn't allow you to break the law and would be ironic if they saw a patient who was injured from a driver here.

I can't really do much about the cyclists and motorcyclists - can't stop them in case they fall off, and I'm busy with the most dangerous there by far, the drivers by virtue of them being so heavy and blocking so much of the road. It's pretty much the same approach the police there use.

I have seen him berate cyclists doing the same thing in his other videos. He just doesn't stop them, for the reasons he explains above.

Just out of curiosity why didn’t he pull up the cyclist at 1:11. All for pulling people up when they’re wrong but this probably isn’t closing the divide between cyclists and drivers.

I find it telling that the amount of cyclists that do this same manoeuvre and you don't stop them !
@CyclingMikey2 жыл бұрын
Yes, good comment and of course I have concerns - it's wrong, and they shouldn't do it. There are several reasons why I don't deal with motorcyclists and cyclists doing this: 1) By far the most danger comes from the car drivers doing this, not only because of their size and mass, but also because of the speed and carelessness which many drivers go through here. In contrast most motorcyclists and cyclists are much more careful when doing this. Two wheelers have skin in the game, drivers do not. 2) I have limited spare time, and I'm not going to spend all of it doing this. That means I'll focus on the most dangerous, being the drivers. This is fairness. It's also my choice. 3) I don't feel able to stop cyclists or motorcyclists doing this as if they fell off because of me stopping them I'd be on very dodgy moral and legal grounds. 4) Whilst I can report the motorcyclists who do this, I tend only to report the few who do it dangerously. I obviously can't report the cyclists, so all I do is occasionally scold them from the corner. 5) The Royal Parks police do much the same - rarely stopping cyclists and motorcyclists, and often stopping the drivers when they stake out this junction. That's a good sense check that I'm doing the right thing. 6) If you want to come down and stop cyclists, feel free to do so. I'll happily film and support you. 7) I can only stop one person at a time. If I've stopped a car, then trying to stop a cyclist would simply result in both easily getting past me. 8) It's classic whataboutery to complain about a different thing when I'm dealing with drivers. The focus of this video is the driver.

@@CyclingMikey Yes i take on board all your points why you're are not stopping bikes, from breaking the law . Do.you support the new law to make bike riders show number plates . This would make your task much easier to prosecute them as well !? .

As a driver/ motorcyclist and cyclist of over 40 years. i can tell you every driver is given the highway code and it states if a sign is blue its instruction is "mandatory" photocopy the page where it says this and show it to these offenders and remind them, to reduce the amount of confrontation you have to deal with over their impatience.
