Gandalf Corner: I Get Hit by Paul Lyon-Maris Video 1 - HV04FOX

Video 1. The irony of this is that I believe Paul Lyon-Maris is the UK agent for Sir Ian McKellen, who plays Gandalf in Lord of the Rings. I failed to Gandalf Gandalf's agent at Gandalf Corner. He repeatedly drove into me and was pushing me back with his car. In my opinion this is pure intimidation and bullying behaviour to get me out of the way.
Must say I'm disappointed with the verdict returned in the jury trial - I'm not sure why it's OK to drive into someone repeatedly and knocking into me like that. I'm glad he was at least fined for contravening the keep left sign, so it's clear he's not completely innocent in the eyes of the law. I'm still sure I'm doing the right thing for right reasons, and this won't stop me.
Paul Lyon-Maris - it's worth googling his name together with the word Fox as per his private number plate.
Robin Muir - the passenger.

How can they take away licences for speeding but this guy drives the wrong way down the road for a fair bit, goes the wrong way around a keep left, hits somebody and drives with them on the bonnet and tries to leave the scene of an incident and only gets a £178 fine?

I suppose we should all bear in mind that if you see Mr Lyon-Maris crossing a street and you see him, were you to deliberately drive at him and carry him on your bonnet while trying to flee the scene - that would not comprise either common assault or dangerous driving. A lady was banned for driving her car into a Just Stop Oil protester. While not defending her, she most likely thought she had a right to pass. Exactly what I came to say. She was on the correct side of the road and nudged the protesters 2 or 3 times. This guy was on the wrong side, he is clearly seen driving into Mikey knocking him over and carrying him along the road. The one big difference is the woman pleaded guilty; bet she regrets that now, seeing how Paul Lyon-Maris got away with far worse. In the woman's case, Mr Petchey, the prosecutor said: Of the dangerous driving count, Mr Petchey said: “It is not an excessive speed as the driver was using the brakes quite heavily. “This is done on two occasions. “The Range Rover stops very close to the female protester.” Mr Petchey said the dangerous driving meant that injury could have been caused. He said: “Clearly this was an incident where there was a risk, even if no injury was caused.”

I’ve mixed feelings about this case. Clearly the driver was in the wrong by driving into Mikey standing in the road. That was when Mikey should have stepped aside, taken the reg number and reported the assault to the police. The driver would have then drove off and later been prosecuted. However I think Mikeys ego got the better of him. He’s used to people reversing back and doing what he tells them to do. (I fully appreciate why he does it and we will never know how many accidents have been averted by his direct action). Thankfully Mikey wasn’t injured and hopefully it was a lesson learnt. He’s got the video evidence of a traffic offence - to do the ‘thou shall not pass’ routine is foolhardy and extremely dangerous.

@M R which ignores the bias that it has been proven time and again exists in the jury system. The crime and evidence is far less important to the outcome by jury than the image of the defendant, their perceived social status, and wealth. If this exact same thing happened where the only difference was that the vehicle was an old, battered Range Rover, with several previous owners and the driver had been a middle aged, unemployed, man living in a council flat, surviving on the benefits system, you can be absolutely certain he would have been found guilty of both dangerous driving and common assault. He wasn't cleared because he didn't commit the crimes (which are so obviously committed), he was cleared because his social status and well funded legal council made the jury sympathetic to him as an individual. (Edit: M R has since deleted their comment, which makes many of the replies difficult to understand. The assertion being made was basically that because it was a jury decision, said decision couldn't possibly be corrupted or influenced by the individual being wealthy, or his social stature, which was hardcoretam's assertion.)

Part of the problem is the charge of dangerous driving which virtually is never prosecuted unless involving very high speeds and a serious accident. The charge of careless driving would have been more likely to succeed. The assault was blatant but as no ABH the jury of sympathetic drivers will have dismissed it as of no consequence. Juries are entirely unsuitable for deciding such cases.
