I have played 7DTD 1K hours and I will be honest that new player will need lots of time to learn how to live in game, the fun comes from how you level up, gains & learn new skills, make armors and weapons and eventually build a horde base with your style. It may feels the game lack any indication on how to play the game but that is the Freedom you have which is almost that you can literally build anything from scratches. This 1.0 update is a major update, hope you will find the fun that many of us have and enjoyed. Imagine your horde base is soo well designed that you can literally almost AFK the whole Horde night! Or build a high up castle so there is zero zombie will able to bother you~

7 Days to Die can be a slow burner as you start off and there's a bit of a steep learning curve - surviving in the lush woodlands, dividing tasks and coordinating skill, scavenging and mining, farming and cooking, building defences and crafting weapons... It can be overwhelming or even tedious at first depending on your expectations. However ... at a later point in the game you will be armed to the teeth with machine guns and auto-shot guns, grenades and rocket launchers, weighed down by all your ammo, doing Tier 6 Infestation missions through huge buildings like factories, schools, hospitals and military bases in the middle of a blasted and lifeless wasteland wandered my radioactive mutants, where the zombies just keep coming! It's like Aliens! At this point, your horde base has to be a fortress JUST to survive the night; when 4am comes and the Horde night is over, and you're just clearing out the stragglers from amids the crumbling ruins of the structure you built, seeing all the zombie loot bags -- it's like Christmas morning. Personally, I've found the best introduction for somebody more newish to the game is to bring them in to a 100+ day game, use cheats to give them XP, armour, guns, ammo, food and medical supplies, and just take a sojourn through some of the toughest buildings in the game. Then arrange a Horde Night with a massive, over-engineered fortress. After that there's a lot more enthusiasm for the earlier stages of the game. Happy Horde Night! :D

I have to offer one tip. They were extremely lucky to have found that automatic sledge machine! There are designs you can go look up for hoard bases that take all of 20 minutes to build, that need just one auto sledge, that makes your hoard nights much easier. That auto sledge is probably the single most useful tool you could have found!

The thing that i enjoy the most is gradually building your ultimate zombie base, setting traps, digging holes, etc. and waiting for that day 7 with your buddies. Going into new biomes looking for new gear is also really fun and rewarding, i remember raiding this weird giant army compound with end game zombies surrounding it and i got inside it and looted bunch of cool weapons like rifles and shotguns, then it became night and i camped inside hiding in a corner waiting for an army of zombies to walk by.

Zombie loot bags are at a 100% drop, but I went into the code and took out all ammunition types so using guns is more of an end game goal. I also have it to where when I level up, I get 3 skill points instead of one. The last thing to note is that I play with permadeath on, so I should always be thinking of leaving useful things to a future character on the map if/when I die.

I have bought the game 4 times now and don’t regret it at all. It’s not perfect but the modding community makes the game unlimited replay value.

Getting the cooking books to make tea takes the hydration restored from 10 (clean water) to 24 (tea) per bottle. Greatest early upgrade you can get. If you can find a Water Purifier from looting; you can drink water from anything with no downsides. Vitamins (the green and white pills) prevent lots of negative effects, like dysentery from bad water. Unfortunately; charred food, and medicine greatly reduce your water. Making you super thirsty. That is not well conveyed.

The food system in 7D2D is pretty awful. But isn't it in pretty much all surviving games? Your character can create a machine gun from pipes etc. but can't figure out how to make bacon and eggs. The issue in many surviving games is that food and water become pointless or an annoys rather than a cool element. Food should give your character a long-lasting buff that would make it interesting and also make you eat less often, rather than something used to just keep certain bars up. To the AJ team, the green and blue bars underneath the hotbar are your food and water levels, just stuff and drink as much as possible until those are maxed out and you won't constantly have to eat and drink. Usually, it is not a huge issue getting dirty water, if you just loot houses, but in the beginning, you can use some of the quest money to buy water and eventually Dew collectors and upgrades for them, so they collect faster and turn it into clean water. That people say it was too easy before I don't agree with, the only reason you struggle is because you haven't played the game that much, so ain't aware of the different ways to get water or what to prioritize. Again the food/water system will very quickly turn into being pointless.
@STOPTHECLOWNS5814 ай бұрын
To be fair to the game do you actually know how to make bacon from meat?
@mobster56264 ай бұрын
@@STOPTHECLOWNS581 I wouldn't assume that you make actual bacon in this game, as much as you simply cut it from the pig. It is still kind of silly. I have no problem with it, I just think that food systems in general in survival games should have more meaning.
@kevlandon4 ай бұрын
I'm at a point in the game where most of the food/drinks I make/eat give me buffs, I DO think they could be better though
@mobster56264 ай бұрын
@@kevlandon This is probably different from person to person, but I prefer that food and water are more difficult to obtain, but give a buff worth using. For instance a RL 1 hour or a whole 7D2D day XP bonus or being able to move faster etc. I really don't enjoy those getting a 2-10-minute buff that most games seem to use. I really like it in a game like Aska even though, it is a slightly different type of game and can't remember if they even give you a buff, but where the whole food system makes sense, is because you need it to feed your people and if you don't they will die. So they gave it an important function, which to me makes it interesting. Im not 100% sure what exactly would work in 7D2D, but I think it would be better, if they increased the buff timer and made the difference between poor food and good more severe, while at the same time making it more difficult to make the good one. But in general reduce the amount of food and water you need to consume, because it is slightly silly how much you have to eat and drink, especially the poor food. So to me, it is about finding a good balance where high-quality food will stay relevant even in the end game.

The water and food balance being too unforgiving for no reason, even defying logic, is why I keep repeatedly abandoning the game. This despite 90%+ of the rest of the game being super fun and addictive. This game should be a lesson to developers not to put in unnecessarily strict and harsh game systems for no reason.

You just have to get by for the first few days. You'll unlock dew collectors and find water purifier mods for helmets. If you do tutorial missions fast and get to the trader, you can buy grills and cooking pots. I usually am heading to the trader within three minutes of spawning in. Deer are easy to find. Cornmeal is very useful. Usually, by day two, I've already got a small base, campfire, and storage. The game is more about prepping for the hoard than surviving. The first few days are rough.
