Angry Karen shows up while I'm mowing an Elderly Couple's house and starts swearing at me demanding I come mow hers for free. She was extremely frustrated I was helping this Elderly Family out because they always get free handouts. I would have never anticipated having something like this happening.

I’ll subscribe. I do have an idea to share. I live in in MN and I happen to have enough money to get some yard maintenance, cutting the lawn and winter snow removal. We moved into this home when the kids were 5 and 2. I was 31 at the time and I’m almost 70 now. I did all the yard work, maintenance and snow shoveling. One more thing we have on the property is one of the fire hydrants on the block. I took it upon myself to make sure the hydrant was accessible from the street and there was 365 degree access for the firefighters could het to every hose connection. My challenge is I can’t do that much labor anymore so this past winter the hydrant got buried. I guess I got the people around me too dependent on me. Especially given nobody felt enough concern to dig out the fire hydrant. I just didn’t think I need to recruit a person to take over given my legs and lower back pain have kept me from doing as much as I once did. I never did all of this for recognition because I did it because it needed to be done. So by the time winter ended no one has stepped up to take over. The City doesn’t have a plan and I don’t have a plan. It would be so nice if someone could help recruit a replacement. It would be great if a person like yourself could somehow recruit ant train volunteers on proper space management Thanks!

My problem with her, among many, is that she wasn’t happy that her elderly neighbors were getting help. She couldn’t find it to be happy for them and then to nicely ask the man if he could help her, too. Her foul mouth and ungracious behavior would not motivate anyone to help her.

A very similar thing happened to me when I was in the navy. My shop did a "national day of caring" where we went out and helped an elderly woman clean her yard. But then we got bombarded by several of her young adult, perfectly healthy neighbors who were literally sitting around on their porches with nothing to do and demanded we now clean their lawns. It was ridiculous. My boss was normally a chill and nice guy but we were just awe struck at how rude and entitled they were and he told them to GTFO and leave us alone lol.

I lived in rural Michigan many years ago and most people I dealt with were exactly like her. This has to be fake. She asks “why the **** are you mowing their lawn?” Why would someone who lives quite far away ask why someone is mowing in someone else’s lawn.

It’s a great service y’all do for people that really need it. I know they are real grateful for it. These peoples lawnmowers probably don’t run or they are to old to use them. If But that woman didn’t have to be so rude to you about her yard. Evidently her yard gets done or neighbors would have contacted you about helping her.

Not really surprising. This is where America has gone these days. There was a time, not too many decades ago, that upon seeing a neighbor in need, especially our elders, they would have, at the least, sent the kids over to mow. I'm out of touch anymore. When the lady next door decided to sell her house to move into a retirement home, I told her I'd keep the lawn mowed until it sells or winter. Just as when the elderly lady across the street had an accident 3 years ago, I mowed her lawn (which was in horrific shape) until her brother told me she passed and they'd sold the house. I do this despite my rider needing a charge, jump, and prayer to start. It was how I was raised in small town Iowa.

Obviously she is active enough to pick up trash or she would not pick up those looser type men to take off when things get tough

There’s nothing stopping her from picking up the trash and if she’d set some boundaries for everyone (including herself) to put trash where it goes in the first place it wouldn’t be an issue.
