Since when do they have to know every little personal detail? What does a random framed photo has to do with smuggling? So why did he even ask anything about that? Also the fact that in almost like EVERY episode they find it "frustrating" that they didn't find drugs/other illegal items on a innocent person. If I did that kind of work I would be happy that anyone that I "investigate" comes up clean and didn't decide to ruin his life trying to smuggle illegal things. 'So you know what's in them, then?' As though the two were equivalent propositions, when they're very definitely not. Because you haven't been in possession of your bags for hours, during which time total strangers have handled them. It's literally impossible for you to 'know what's in them'. But if you carelessly allow them to slip that by you, and then they find something, even if you knew nothing about it, you're on record as claiming knowledge of what's in you bags. And 'anything you say can be used against you.' Good luck trying to 'take it back' It's underhanded, and very deliberately so, and they shouldn't even be allowed to do it. The drug smuggler would have made GBP 30,000 on 36 packages of cocaine. In the UK, a mailman's salary is GBP 31,000 per annum. His drug sentence is 5 yrs or more. While he is in jail, he has zero income. If he had worked even as a mailman, he would have made GBP 31k x 5 yrs = GBP 155,000. In addition, he would not have risked his life, destroyed his reputation with a felony arrest record, and endured 10 days of constipation, gas, stomach cramps. What a losing formula. Once I was picked for cavity search and I think they swabbed my shoes also on top of my bags, found nothing but it cost me an extra 100$ for limo driver’s time whom I ordered to pick me up from Airport. I’m not saying what they do is bad but better training or some sort of reimbursement for people expenses for those delay would be great! The only reason I was picked I’m sure was fact I traveled alone for second time that year to Cuba and then again what can people bring that’s illegal to or from Cuba?

Right? Like phew. I’m so glad grandma and grandpa can’t give the kids and grandkids some tobacco for Christmas! I know I feel safer those SERIOUS criminals are off the street. They’re literally treating it like a murder investigation. So stupid. Buying tobacco for yourselves and kids to split bc it’s cheaper is the most idiotic illegal thing I’ve ever heard of. Like for real? All of the danger in airports and THAT is their concern??
@bethewalt73852 жыл бұрын
The country of England doesn't "save" money by catching smugglers, if they stop you and you're over the limit the only way you can keep the tobacco is to pay the customs usually thousands of pounds, so if anything they make money not save money as you put it, additionally because it's a social democracy they have national health care, that's why cigs in england/uk are so expensive to begin with, it funds the NHS, dude your reasoning makes zero sense, don't think you really have a grasp or understanding of how it all works, connects and why.....

At the same time the tax is meant to partially pay for the damages it causes society so if anything other countries should increase their taxes and even then it will be cheaper due to differences in cost of products

Cops ALWAYS make me nervous even though I've never been stopped. Then again, I'm in the US where cops regularly go out of bounds with civilians. I always hate flying as well. I just think nervousness is a poor indicator of something suspicious.

@a z I agree with you almlst 100%. Cops do make me nervous when I get pulled over. Not because they "regularly get out of bounds" but you never know when you might have a phantom warrant for one reason or another. That happened to a friend of mine once. Her husband bounced a check and her licence was suspended and she had no idea.

I think their system returns a positive test result on demand. It’s like I learned as a one time public defender, a K-9 can be trained to alert to the sight of a car’s tire rather than the actual presence of drugs. As a former US federal prosecutor I’m unimpressed at finding the presence of trace or even marginal amounts of drug present on a surface, especially when that surface is a bag that’s traveled internationally and is still en route when tested. Ditto for shoes. I’m surprised they aren’t swabbing paper currency. That’s a guaranteed Coke positive every time.
@trr44883 жыл бұрын
From what I see, a swab is put through a machine. Wouldn't traces wipe off on the machine every time?
