Try as I might, I searched and could find no information on 'Paul Brady' (or any person) who was apprehended by customs at Gatwick (or any UK airport) and then refused to poop for 48 days. Strangely, though, there's actually a plethora of information about a man from Brixton, London (Lamarr Chambers) who was arrested after a police chase and then refused to poop for 47 days. Eventually police dropped the charges against him over health and safety concerns. There are NUMEROUS articles about Mr. Chambers and not a single one about "Mr. Brady". I'm leaning towards the customs story being fictional, and adapted from the actual story of Lamarr Chambers - it did say it was a reconstruction, so fair play. Only thing is that the customs officer seemed pretty emotional over the whole thing. Maybe he's just a good actor... I don't know. It seems implausible that there would be two people on "bowel-movement-strikes" for 47/48 days at all... much less a situation where one person becomes infamous for it, and the other gets nary a mention anywhere on the Internet.

I think he figured that he was smarter than a girl and she would back down. That’s an excess amount of cigarettes and he fought her the entire way. If he smoked as much as he said he does he would smell like a chimney even if he hadn’t smoked for a few hours due to a flight.

I was a bit smarter when I used to smuggle in tobacco, used to hire a van, get a B&B in Dover and drive to Belgium and buy heaps of pouches. The guy used to give you multitude of receipts and I would drive back to Calais, leave the van there and put the max allowed into a hold all and go back & forth across the Channel as a foot passenger all weekend, dumping the packets in the B&B. At the time it was only a pound to cross as a foot passenger each way. Customs couldn't do anything about it. Used to do it twice a month and the money was staggering. 😁

Crazy thing is it's nowhere near the 14 years they say it is. A standard cigarette has 1 gram of tobacco so that's 87,000 cigarettes for 3 people. If they smoke 2 packs a day, which many people do, that would last less than 2 years. If you smoke that much, you could save a TON of money to buy in that bulk.

I understand the yachtsman's attitude. The boat is his "home", he is in the middle of nowhere and bothering no one. He does not want armed intruders invading his property. Imagine the police coming to your house and "telling you" they are coming inside, against your will to do a "random search".
@Kiwi-ICU-RN3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but customs has more power than the police. Well, they do in New Zealand, anyway.
@harpharpharpharp19713 жыл бұрын
Wake up. If you are entering a country in your mobile "home", whether it is a camper van or a boat, you can expect it to be searched by customs officers because of legal restrictions on what you can bring in. If they did not do so, the country would have an even bigger drug problem than it has. It would also lose tax revenue on imported goods, which means that other people would have to pay higher taxes. Your argument makes no sense, and there is reason to suspect that you are anti-law enforcement and may have a tendency to be a habitual law breaker of some sort.
@coast2coast003 жыл бұрын
@@harpharpharpharp1971 That's how it works with trucks with a sleeper cab. If you are stopped by the police, they can't search your sleeping area freely because it's part of your "home", but if you are crossing a border they have every right to look for hidden cigarettes, guns or drugs.
@someguy49153 жыл бұрын
@@coast2coast00 That is not because it 'is part of your home' but simply because police need 'probable cause' to search a vehicle, bags and/or frisk a person. They cannot just walk up to random people and start frisking them or entering random homes because they feel like it. If however they stop a camper and smell cannabis from outside, that can be probable cause to search inside, whether you call it a home or not, police calls it a possible crime scene and is allowed in under probable cause. If the police stop a truck, it is usually because of poor driving/driver being tired and sleep deprived due to driving too long. So there would be no reason to search the truck at all because you won't find a more rested driver there... If police stop a truck because they have intel that it is carrying illegal items they can absolutely search it. It would be hilarious if a drug smuggler could just hide their dope in the sleeper cab of a truck and be impervious to law enforcement due to your idea that anything you call home cannot be searched...
