Theoria, I have tried your trick and i am impressed. And it works with the d300 also.

Also if you put 8x AA batteries (I use Eneloop) in the AA tray the D700 burst rate increases from 5fps to 8fps in C.High and the rear LCD Info screen indicates 8fps. Keep up the good work, particularly the good equipment on a budget videos.

S Fayers I've found that the rechargeable batteries do not perform as well for the higher frame rate. Alkaline batteries release power a lot faster than NiMH batteries. But, those alkaline AA"s will not last long using the machine gun shutter!

S Fayers yes, but nothing like using some $$$ vampires in the tray. :)

S Fayers It sure does shoot 8FPS that way! I shot a few sports tournaments with a D700+grip with Eneloops for 8FPS. It's a beautiful thing. I was averaging 1200 shots per charge. So much cheaper than a EN-EL4a!

I've been watching your videos for the past few weeks now and I love your truthful testimonies and wealth of knowledge of Nikon gear Just picked up a D700 a few months back while I was in Japan (was a steal cause the yen was, and still is, weak) and I have all of the accessories that you mentioned in this video. It is a beast at 8FPS and I don't think anyone needs much more than that, I hardly use it myself but it is great having the extra weight and shutter release for portraits :) The image quality is superb on the D700 and its performance at ISO 1600 is amazing, especially since I upgraded from a D2XS (which I loved) that could barely do ISO 800 haha, simply unheard of these days. Keep up the great videos!! People need to know that Nikon (and most companies for that matter) don't make things like how they used to.

I believe a similar setup can be used on the Nikon F6 with the MB-40 battery grip. I landed on this video while searching to see if anyone was using it that way.

At 8 fps how many shots are taken before the buffer slows it down?

I've recently purchased a D700 moving up from a D7200. This might be a dumb question, but I assume you still need to leave the standard battery in as well as the EN-EL4a? Just trying to figure out how many of each battery I will need to purchase.

need NO, should, yes.

you can get 8 fps without the grip. First, make the following custom setting adjustments: e5: Flash only e6: Flash only f4: Button press - Bracketing burst (or what ever button you want to assign) f4: Button + dials - Bracketing mode While shooting press the assigned button, rotate command dial to adjust how many frames you want to shoot, fire away. A bit awkward but it works

I wish there was something like the EN-EL4a for the D600/D610...

That battery works great in the d700 it even seems to make a single shutter click seem more "snappy"

There also a BL-5 for the MB-12 grip for the D800 series cameras

Just scored a D700 with 169000 shutter clicks for $75. High mileage but still a steal!
@UnusSedLeo-w5l6 жыл бұрын
There are D700's around with over 350,000 clicks. So unless you shoot a lot per day, you're good for years to come.
