I have noticed that it seems South Africans have no voice in their country. The problem that people refuse to acknowledge is that South Africans do not hate Chidima, they did not want her to represent South African women, because her citizenship was obtained illegally. These people obviously had inside information and it was proved when The South African Home Affairs confirmed that her mother stole a South African woman's identity. That means the mother was not born in South Africa. It is sad that the real issue is being overlooked and labeled Xenophobic. The cause of this uproar was instigated by the same people who are now calling South Africans Xenophobic.

No Chidimma was raised to be more Nigerian than South African. That's why people didn't like her. She didn't speak any of the languages in South Africa, she only spoke English. The eventual winner of the competition, the White Miss South Africa, speaks 3 of South Africa's 12 official languages. She was raised by her father to be proud of her Nigerian lineage, and this saw her doing things like putting the Nigerian flag on her bio, but never the South African flag. All of these told South Africans that this girl is more proud of being Nigerian, but just happened to be born in South Africa. This made her being a representative of South Africa ridiculous because how do you want to be a proud Nigerian, but want to represent South Africa. And that's the issue.
Explaining to people that didn't even know that Coloured people exist in Africa, they have their own culture, language and traditions and are a recognised tribe of Southern Africa is exhausting!!! Why is she being held responsible for her mother’s actions? It’s not her fault, and she must not have known. If she was born in SA and meets the requirements why is she getting hate… I’m very confused as an Black American I really didn’t know that Africans(in Africa) had such bad blood towards each other just for being from different countries and tribes. It kinda makes me sad, because what hope do we have in returning to where we were stolen from if the people there are already hating each other over locations or ethnic backgrounds.

If you knew the damage and illegal acts illegal immigrants do to South Africa you would understand. Most of the crime that goes on is because of people from other African nations especially Chidimma's country. The problem is that she's Nigerian . If it was another country I'm not sure if this would have been a big problem. It doesn't matter if you think and has made history and ancestry a factor in your life its your choice, for some of us its not when it comes to some issues like this one . We have a right to decide whom we want to be our miss SA. Some people are so shallow, this has not much to do with xenophobia It's has all to do with Nigerians. Also African countries must find another country in Africa to congregate and unite at so than south africa can start dealing with its own overwhelming problems without dealing with extra problems. Then maybe one day when we are able to, we'll welcome them back .
