It's actually entirely reasonable that it should be(it isn't in practice or there would be sanctions on South Africa) more headline grabbing seeing as we have systemic anti-white(and to some extent non-black) laws on the books in South Africa. White South Africans are systemically discriminated against solely based on their race. The plight of impoverished Black South Africans, poses a different set of questions, as they are the majority, have a black government in power and after 30 years of democracy and every race based advantage on the legal books, are now worse off than they were under Apartheid.

As an American whose been living in South Africa now for over 15 years, I can truthfully say that these stories are true. Actually, there are many many others living in this country who will never ever be filmed or documented.... it's sad! Just over a week ago, right before Christmas a 45 year old Afrikaans man came to my gate pleading for a job.... to do anything. I hired him to cut my lawn and to do other chores. This man has a wife and two young daughters, whom he also brought to my gate. ( I'm sure doing this, helps him to sell himself ) He told me he only survives, because he has extended family living with him. Seems almost everyone there has some kind of Government grant. This man sadly is also a fairly heavy smoker, and so money that should be going to the kids....for better clothes etc, is being smoked away! I mainly hired him to help them with their Christmas, as I usually cut my own grass. He worked for me two 6 hour days, but was paid for eight. I also feed him a robust lunch. I paid him in full at the end of each days work, and so I did notice, however, that on day two he was smoking twice as much as he was on day one with me. That told me the real story..... his Christmas was going up in smoke!!!!!!!

They want the people to live in the dark! They want to keep them down! It's all about control...... God bless you sir, for the work you are doing. I wonder if people give up, and then start smoking to escape and cope? I think the problem is also spiritual. They are seeking escape, rather than seeking God. And you can’t force someone to seek God Everyone has to find their own way through their own free will.

No matter how we want to look at things, the fact is that we are all created in the image of the Creator and that is what counts! If we focus on that fact then we are all brothers and sisters under the sun and skin colour means nothing in the long run! On the other hand we are told by Jesus in the Bible to treat others as we ourselves wish to be treated and that includes having respect for the self and for all who we come in contact with on a daily basis! ♡

I work with white people, and they have been wonderful for the past 8 years. In 2021, we went to a Township and for most of them, it was their first time since they were born. They were suppressed by number of things, including cleanliness, development and hospitality. I made them walk the streets and buy in local tuckshop. The question you asked about how they perceived black people is quite relevant. People are people. There is a need for cultural exchange programmes amongst South Africans. At least we black people know more about white culture than they do we ours. Few years ago we had a guy from Germany and he stayed in a Township for 6 months. I was born in Canada to South African immigrants. My father was the head of the 'Drame department' at the University of Toronto and my mother is the welk known writer Margaret Visser. Growing up I was sent to private schools and spent summers at our house in the South of France. I don't know exactly why I became so troubled however I know that I was deeply affected by the struggle against Apartheid during the 1980s. There were demonstrations in the streets demanding the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of the Apartheid regime. I felt ashamed of my identity and kept my Afrikaans roots secret. It was in the early 90s that I entered 'The SASIC center' (The South African support and information centre) in downtown Toronto. I was warmly welcomed by the director Maisela Kekane and told to come by more often, that they had live music on Friday and Saturday nights. When I came by I was introduced to the regulars and even though I was born in Canada and identify as a Canadian, my hand was warmly shaken and I was referred to as 'my South African brother'. There were a lot of talented musicians in that crowd, some of them well known professionals, I was taught how to dance the Soweto Jive! Often I would hang out at Steve Molefe's house with Welcome Nkosi, 'Easy' and others. We would smoke Dagga and talk. Sometimes, especially when I asked, they told me what it was like to live under Apartheid laws and the struggle. (Steve Molefe and Welcome Nkosi had been part of 'The class of 76) and 'Easy' had been in prison on Robben Island with Nelson Mandela. I remember one time expressing shame about my Afrikaner roots and Welcome Nkosi saying that there is more to Afrikaner culture than oppression. Despite having been imprisoned on many occasions by the Apartheid regime, he still had good things to say about Afrikaners. 'Easy' would look me in the eyes with a big smile on his face and say 'I only want to be your friend'. And so the years went by and my drinking got steadily worse. I became homeless, Steve Molefe put me up on his humble apartment and his wife cookie food. Then the city of Toronto gave me a room in a house for people who have addiction. I felt very stigmatized, there was a lot of violence and the police would often come. The neighbors built walls around the house and wrote a petition to the city to have us removed. I did get money from my parents, whi gad moved to France, it went on alcohol gambling and women. I lost track of my South African friends and other Toronto friends and took a bus out to Albert's. I had a tough time in Calgary, I couldn't hold down a job, sometimes I got thrown out of homeless shelters for coming back drunk. At one time I worked in a steel plant 'Standens' the foreman there was from Zimbabwe, one time I told him that my parents were from South Africa and we became instant friends. I was working for a temp agency and got a check every day. Jacob Nkube would insist on driving me to his bank machine every time I got a check and cashing it for me so I would get the full amount. ( western union would take 20%.) I moved to Victoria and married a lady from the Philippines who is hard headed. I opened my own business and have had some success, I amno longer ashamed of my Afrikaner roots and am proud of my South African roots . I do what I can to give back. I learned that the best way to help yourself is to help others. I sponsor an orphaned child at 'The Coega Door of Hope'.

This is so sad and yet one still gets people who are not satisfied with their home they live in. These people are humble and stand together. God bless you all and we pray for a better life for all of you. God bless❤

This is a bitter-sweet story... so sad that there is poverty everywhere while the governments live like fat-cats... There is absolutely NO reason for this. Our world is abundant - there is more than enough to go around. I have to say that I believe there is coming a time -VERY SOON - when this situation will change - NESARA/GESARA - God help us all to bring in the golden age! Have faith - it is closer than we realise~

I've actually read the book titled Animal farm from when I was in grade 12 In 2009. It's Deja Vu that's all I can say. About the Anc in SA and the Pigs in the book. Me being the donkey that sees everything but takes no action

The guy from Cape Town reckons it's the drug problem that led him to the shacks, everyone with a drug problem is using the drugs to treat a symptom of a deep rooted challenge. All the people in the streets, drowning their sorrows on some drug is or has been let down by a family in denial of their shortcomings on a domestic level. Across all races...

Africans are very hospitable but these people chose Apartheid policy. It's their choice, let them be.
