Why do civilian businesses and individuals feel they can tell the military what to do to improve itself, with little to no insight on how we function? The positive, yet misguided, women at Fluence.co felt it to be their turn to "bring attention to" some issues they deemed "life threatening." One of these life threatening issues are pants. That's right. Pants are going to cost us the lives of female Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and those other two branches. Angry Veteran decides to share his two cents about the matter.

I am a female in the Army. When she started talking about marching I just about lost my shit. If you cannot keep up, either train harder or get out of the military. I am a soldier, other soldiers, regardless of gender, need me to pull equal weight. If I cannot pull equal weight, I should not be here. If I whine and tell everybody else to slow down, I am a liability.

I was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, when women were allowed in the field. The biggest change I saw, was while the guys would manhandle equipment, like changing aircraft tires, the gals would use the tire change tools, that didn’t require strength. Slowly, the guys started using the special tools also because it was easier. The gals were a blessing in disguise in how we worked.

My dad and I are two different heights, and yet we have the same length legs. We've measured bc it's funny. I've worked at jobs where my much taller bosses couldn't keep up with my stride. I think her whole argument about strides is hilarious just because I can keep up with the average male stride easily and...my pelvis has never cracked 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 oh my go that's not how the human body works. Also the whole pants thing is hilarious, bc I've camped out in the woods a large number of times in my life, and that's again just not how anything works. Lady enlisted in the Air Force here. I love the OCP pants. One of my worries when I joined would be if they didn't fit right. I have wider hips and narrower waist. Standard issue pants that I have gotten in the civilian workforce have been problematic for fitting me right. I was afraid the problem would be even worse with the military uniform. Even then, uniform allowance can go to tailoring them anyway. But nope. No such problem. OCPs fit perfectly. And the blues pants were tailored perfectly for me in BMT. Now all I gotta do is worry about staying in shape so that they still fit me. Which that is not an issue since being military, working out and staying in shape is literally part of the job. I'm an adult. Literally not an issue. There is maybe once legitimate complaint that one could make is that they don't make smaller uniforms. There are girls shorter and skinnier than me and here I'm wearing the smallest size pants (25) and top (30). But again, nothing a tailor can't fix. Some could further complain that tailoring can be expensive. Not really, there are plenty of sweet dependa-wives on base that can and will do it. They love getting to do all sorts of side hustles. Tailoring, sewing patches and stripes, steaming. They never charge too much either and can get it done usually much quicker than the BX or anywhere in town. I'm 5'4". marching was totally fine. No issues whatsoever. I only did it in BMT and Tech school. I'm an aircraft maintainer. Marching ain't a thing for us. I can't speak to her other complaints since I obviously don't use any of it for my job in AMXS.

AC, I enlisted in the USAF back in 1987 when we were still wearing the OD Fatigues and I can attest that there was actually a female specific fatigue uniform. The pants & shirts were both cut to the female form, and had different pockets. When the BDUs came out they dropped the female specific uniforms, and everyone wore the same thing. Also, a male soldier getting shot at an oblique angle to his vest is going to have the same problems with his internal organs being perforated as female soldiers.

i had a female soldier that had CQ duty with a nother NCO in my unit. He told her to straighten up the day room before he closed it for the night. I came around the corner and she refused becuase she said he was sexually harrassing her. by that order. I intervened as her Squad leader. The next day she was entereterd into the AR-15 lottery. for diobeying an order and lying about an NCO to the CO. She decided to try it again on someone else. Finally another Female soldier invited her to a Wall to Wall counseling session. Finally she stopped.

BATHROOMS??!!😂🤣. Never been to the "Sandbox"; not going to misrep my service. My time was well before that (6/81-6/85, USMC; 2/86-2/2000, USAR). But from the places I DID go, usual accomodations was a hole in the floor, in the corner; a "Porta-Potty (aka Honey-Bucket😆) would've been a luxury, even if it needed servicing. And LET'S not talk about "Burning shitters", and having the wind shift🤮. Trust me; it will truly gag a maggot. Done it...a FEW TIMES🙄🙄. Remember...the "slack" that a DS/NCO may have to cut a female trainee/soldier in a "ground" environment, because of command pressure (ie "...she WILL graduate; are we clear, Sgt?), is something that a REAL enemy won't give 2 SHITS about; and IF things don't go well in an engagement, and she is taken prisoner...🤢Do I have to draw you a picture of what will happen to her?? Have NO DOUBT; dying IS NOT the worst thing that can happen to you...

Fun fact: the vest she's complaining about for pilots is a secondary system. They can just look at their gauges or their HUD which are their primary system for knowing aircraft orientation. Also pilots are absolutely taught how to handle a spin. It's literally one of the first things you learn to the point it's drilled into your brain so much that you can automatically recover. It's that big of a deal that even civilian pilots learn it hardcore during their first round of training. If you find yourself being a private pilot and having not learned spin recovery get a new instructor and go learn it. It can save your life. You don't need a vest.
@cadenorris4009

Even in instrument conditions, military pilots are ABSOLUTELY trained to be able to handle recovery in instrument conditions. Hell, you can get your instrument rating right after you get your PRIVATE PILOTS license.

And don't pilots all have a system like "Bitching Betty" were a voice tell you when you have stuffed up in a stern way.. I learnt about Betty when more people like this attacked the system becsue of the Bitch title.. The women who worked for the aircraft manufacturer actually provided the voice(she's southern and gets to the point) and she is proud that they call her voice a Bitch becsue she wants them to take notice so that they survive..
