Hi Sue Stanley OAM and Sam Newman, Great following you on your adventure. Things going wrong with your boat, I’m sure this is common when traveling so thanks for sharing and good on you guys for having a go. I bought a can opener for $1.50 at IGA and it opened the can of tuner perfectly I have thought about trying the one you have but don’t like wasting money, just looking at it looks painful. Regarding Left and Right Port and Starboard, I have known of people not knowing the left and right of a car and assume there have been Doctors making errors, if it makes you thing about it it could be a good thing :). Aso Bow And Stern could be front and back too just saying. Safe travels for the trip home looking forward to looking at the scenery, Wales, Dolphins and of cause the love comments you receive. For the record, don't spoil a great friendship by getting involved in a relationship it's great having friends Male and Female cheers CJ - P.S. Go Mr Pimple Popper how good Ha Ha Ha.

Morning Sue and Sam, thanks for your extremely entertaining posts. Might be time to start your own TV travel program. ( Sue and Sam’s travel Australia or maybe Sam’s handle man’s travel tips. I noticed your increasingly frustrated how ALL the marinas you go to they put you on a mooring with a leaky taps but it’s appears all the other boat around you don’t have the same complex issue. As you showed on this video the leak is coming from the area between the tap and your fittings, now I’m sure Sue has worked out the problem but knows that a man with your natural and extremely knowledgeable ability can fix the problem by either , Option one , replacing your hose fitting ( $3 at Bunnings) Option two. Replace the washer at the end of your fitting, ( 25 cents from Bunnings) or Option three Buy a roll of plumbers tape and put it around the end of the tap. ( $2.50 for a lifetime roll ) I suggest a combination of option 1. 2 and 3 . Hope to see many more of your helpful and entertaining videos , safe travels and sorry here you are returning to cold old Victoria. Regard Matt

Use a Brass fitting to attach to the taps. Not those cheap plastic crap one's that generally cross thread most times. The brass ones never leak. cheers.

Hey Sam and Sue, safe cruising to the gorgeous Yamba, so enjoying your hilarious travel guide. Not sure what will entertain our evenings when you get back to MELBOOORNE. Highly recommended Beachwood, a Turkish cafe that has the best Broadbeans, my sisters local brecky haunt, she’s not there at the moment. Evening beers at the pub too. Non alcoholic of course. When you get to Lakes Entrance, come thru the Entrance and head to Metung, we want to get you a beer at our fabulous Metung Pub to say thanks for the great entertainment you’ve provided me and my husband for the past 6 months ⛵️🎉😂❤

That was Marina Mirage with the shops and sails on the roof Sam. And it's not worth trying to get to while it's V8 race weekend with streets blocked off all around that area.

A little pro tip get yourself a lg washing machine inlet hose and chop on end off and put a piece of copper tube inside the chopped end tighten with a good hose clamp leaving a bit poking out to insert it into the chopped end of your hose tighten that with another good hose clamp and no more leaking or popping off useless tap connections and the washing machine inlet hose end will screw straight onto your tap and off easily every time.

I believe port & starboard came from the very polite Poms…stay on the left on the way out, right on the way in. I believe it’s also where the word “posh” comes from - port outbound, starboard home (luv ya work you2)
@Andydw8hn2 ай бұрын
Right and left would cause confusion. Eg. It depends on whether you are facing the boat or facing away from the boat. Port and starboard avoid that potential confusion.

Versace was sold to the Chinese so the hotel has gone down since then and its not part of the Marina. The Marina is owned by an Adelaide developer called Con Makris and from what I have heard he plans to bulldoze it and re-build it so maybe that's why the shops are empty as I think the leases are not getting renewed . Now there is some rival bullshit.

This is what AI came back with. WHilst I initially agreed "Just use left and right", having read this, I think it does make sense in regards to direction you're facing when you're yelling out to the crew. Left & right are relative to your current perspective, but Port/Starboard can't be confused.. You said: Why do mariners use the term port and starboard, rather than left and right? ChatGPT said: Mariners use the terms "port" and "starboard" instead of "left" and "right" to avoid confusion, especially in situations where people face different directions on a vessel. "Port" refers to the left side of the ship when facing forward (toward the bow), and "starboard" refers to the right side. These terms have origins in ancient maritime practices: Starboard comes from the Old English "steorbord," meaning "steering side." Early ships were steered with a long oar on the right side (since most sailors were right-handed), which became known as the "starboard" side. Port initially had different names like "larboard" (meaning the loading side) but was eventually changed to "port" because "larboard" sounded too similar to "starboard" in noisy conditions. The term "port" indicates the side of the ship that typically faced the port when docking. Using these unique terms ensures everyone onboard has a clear reference to direction, regardless of their position on the ship.

Sam if the taps leak go buy some white thread tap that will stop the leaks you can undo the first plastic thread see if it has a o ring that the taps press against as you tighten the hose

Ahhh ya poor thing, "no stern thruster! So I had to moor LEFT!" Mate, thoroughly enjoying your videos and journey, so don't get me wrong, it's just that, if you were a true boatie you would NEVER rely on a Bow or Stern thruster! Why? Because (and here Sam, you will understand), they are like women! They are full on useful and working properly when things are going well, but......as soon as you REALLY need them in a tight spot, for a thrust, they go to POT!

Sam, I’m still a little bit concerned about your breathing, you seem to be occasionally gasping and there is the occasional unevenness to it. Go and get your GP to authorise a stress test and determine if your ticker is working OK for an 80 year old, well worn, veteran. 🫤
