The more I use it, the less I agree with that statement. A search engine will not tag team with you to solve a coding problem in real time, or to learn more about certain aspects of a historical event, or to practice a new language. If you only write 1 prompt, I guess it's just the summary result of 1 google search. But that's not the point.

@@olemew Search engine is a terrible interpretation of LLMs. They do not search anything, they absolutely do not remember all the input data they have been trained on... what LLMs actually are is a weighted random word generator. That's literally what they have always been. The more data you feed them, the more faithfully they will recreate human speech. They however do not think. They have no reasoning, they do not understand concepts or anything. I am currently getting my masters degree, specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The more I learn about them, the less I am willing to call them intelligence. Once you get to the true nitty gritty of how they work, you realize that there is absolutely nothing intelligent about them and with enough time given, you could predict and calculate every possible sequence of words that will come out of an LLM after giving it a certain prompt.

We cannot prove that that’s true, but it only seems logical and would be mathematically strange if it couldn’t. (NNs are statistically called universal approximators, which means they can mimic any function that can exist, such as the human brain.) So, this is my warning. If you don’t learn how it works, you’re going to fall behind really fucking fast. If you do learn how it works, then you might have some chances staying afloat in the future society. The world will become completely unrecognizable at the end of our lifetimes, if we don’t die early to wars.
