The Angus Rock is situated mid channel at the entrance to Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland.
The Angus Rock Tower was built in the late 1800s with the expectation that a light for the navigation of commercial shipping would be added.
Both Portaferry and Belfast were commercial shipping ports, but with no political will for a light to be fitted, commercial shipping declined within Strangford Lough.
Finally in 1983, a red light flashing once every 5 seconds was installed, making Strangford Lough a safe haven for yachts.
Strangford Lough is the most important sea inlet in the British Isles, abundant with diverse sea life above and below the water.

FLIGHT INFO
The previous weekend, flights had been scuppered by thick sea fog, which thankfully stayed away (mostly) for this flight around the Angus Rock in Strangford Lough. It's always more fun flying with a friend.
