I've just got my f160, talked to Chris from spraygunsdirect when buying it and he just said to trust him and go with that instead of flg5. Boy was I surprised with the fan size, coming from r160. Dropped it on the first day and bent the fan adjustment knob but still works perfect. After doing 2 cars I don't see why I would ever need a better gun 😁

Hi Duje, Its a great gun especially at the price they are, I've had the FLG5 for a fair few years but it really was put into the shadows by the F160, I know what you mean about the R160 and F160, really shows the difference between a full size and mini gun, cheers for the comments 👍

Hey Pete! Great video! I am using the R160 and the FLG 5 for relatively small parts. The FLG is set up for primer, But now I want to do a respray on my VW beetle so I want a full size gun for the job. Would you recommend to get a 1.3 or 1.4 tip for the FLG, or would buying a 2nd full size gun like the F160 be a better idea? And could you also do a vid on the compressor you use?
@peteshobbies5383

Hi Jorik, i did a video on my two compressors being linked together so it may be worth looking at that, if you already have an FLG5 i would just get a 1.3 tip for it if you are doing base and clear or 1.4 if it's direct gloss 2k paint or the 1.4 if you're painting in warm conditions. If you really fancy buying another gun I would definitely recommend the F160 in 1.3 as a base and particularly clear gun

Nice comparison Pete, I like the FLG5 I have 2 of them with all the different tip sizes available and use one for primer and WOW primer and the other was being used for base until I got my GTI Pro 1.2 with the TE10 which of course is better. I have to agree though that the finish you got is better with the F160, I think the reason is that the FLG is a bit slower so it looks like you have less clear on the tank with the FLG but as you mentioned with a bit of tweaking they would probably both give the same finish.
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the FLG does put out less, although they were the same tip size the F160 does push it out faster, more air used, to be far I was very unfamiliar with both for clear, I had the FLG5 in 1.4 and 1.8 and only used it for primer, i then sold it to a mate who wanted it to do a commercial vehicle, he got the 1.3 tip but actually didn't use it in the end so i know have it back and have inherited the 1.3 as well, this was the first time using it in 1.3 for clear if i remember rightly, same with the F160 in 1.3, only a few times from memory, I've since used it a fair few times as i really enjoy it, it's not got the feel of a Pro lite or the finesse of the DV1 but for just over £100 it's a bargain

@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 8 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, well, that's a comparison I've never been asked before. They are quite different on every level, obviously size but also build, the FLG5 is more agricultural in build and feel. Performance wise, the W50 atomises finer with a similar pattern but with less material drawn through. The LPH50 is a great little gun, same size as the W50, but it is normally for smaller jobs that require precision rather than speed.

Hi Pete. Do you have a 1.4mm tip for these 2 guns. If so, which has the bigger fan. I'm going to be spraying a fuel tanker lorry soon, I have an FLG5 but the fan isn't the biggest. I'm thinking a whole tanker is going to take a long time with it so I'm after a gun with a bigger fan. The A.N.I - F160, Devilbiss GPI and Devilbiss GTI Pro Lite are being considered. I will be spraying 2k direct gloss.

Hi Greg, I have a 1.4mm tip for the FLG5 but only 1.3 and 1.8 for the F160, the F160 in 1.3 has a bigger fan than the FLG5 in 1.4 for sure, it's a real canon, it's available in 1.4 as well which would probably be better for direct gloss and a bit faster too, never used a GPI but have Gti Pro Lite but think the 1.4 F160 would put more out than the TE20 1.4 combination, cheers 👍

@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks Pete, Is the F160 easy to run. Reading online it says it's only 7.77cfm but some reviews have contradicted that saying it requires alot of air. My compressor runs the FLG5 fine at 9.8cfm. Would you say the F160 is harder to run than the FLG5.

@@gregm9506 Hi Greg, I'm not sure where manufacturers get there figures from, bit like MPG figures i guess but yes, the F160 does seem to use more air, not loads, probably around 15% more than a FLG5, I haven't tested it but I'm sure it uses more, presumably that how it gets more fluid out the same size tip. If funds allow it may be worth buying another small compressor and linking them up and have them both running together, that's what i do if i need loads of air

Hi Pete! You just mention, that ANI F160 would not be very reliable gun. Why not? Is there something that may brake, or leak more easy than expensive guns..? I`ve been thinking this F160 to primer.. Devilbiss GPG is one of my option. air consumption is 165L/min. Suite well for me. Thank you for everything, lol..!
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Riku, the F160 is a reliable gun, I was comparing it to the Devilbiss FLG5 which has a more simple front aircap. The ANI has a few sealing rings and washers on the aircap, the FLG is just a friction seal so there's nothing to go wrong or wear so my thinking is the ANI will not last as long simply because it has more to go wrong. The F160 1.9 is a great high build primer gun, according to ANI it uses 220lt min of air which is reasonably for a full size gun

@peteshobbies5383

Hi mate, they spray exactly the same, has your R150 got 2 or 4 air holes in the air horns?, reason i ask is the pre 2019 R150 had 2 holes, then they went to 4 on the R150, the R160 has 4, so, if your R150 has 4 holes it will spray the same as the R160, if your R150 has 2 holes you will get a much bigger fan with the R160, hope that makes sense 😉
