I'm really disappointed by some of the comments on this video. She is not a great 'woman drummer'-- She is a uniquely talented musician, period. If some of you dudes are feeling like you got shown up by a girl then hit the practice shed and outdo her. Phenomenal musicianship and beautiful technique. I might be switching the Moeller technique after seeing this.
@Adjacent_25 жыл бұрын
I definitely understand your concerns, but keep in mind I feel many of these guys are attempting to rectify long-held stereotypes (i.e. most drum kit players are male) and they're just expressing it in less than ideal ways. We also should not overlook the fact that she is a female drummer. That's akin to saying you "don't see race." The stereotype in the past has been that kit players are predominately male. Seeing her as a woman breaks this stereotype and affirms for young girls out there that the kit is an awesome instrument that could be a great home for them to express their creativity and individuality.

KevoDrums So that's why she stopped keeping time with her hi hat? Because the BMP's were the same right? If I wanted a lesson, I'd go somewhere else.
@AldoMetalDrums10 жыл бұрын
Dustin Sweeney She changed the groove by applying metric displacement, BPM didn't change at all, otherwise the rest of the instruments would've done so, it's called "rythmic illusion", also, the video has some editing to it (who cares, she's still awesome), but if you notice at 3:25 she plays on the Hi-Hats but the sound actually comes from the Ride cymbal, so yes, you need some lessons, but hey, who doesn't?, everybody can learn something from someone else, best regards.

What's a BMP? BPM? thanks for the info.
@AlbinNilssonAlcaztrul10 жыл бұрын
Drums The guys who wrote "BMP" really meant BPM, which stands for Beats Per Minute. You should know if you have a channel called "Drums." Also if you are using google chrome, literally 6 keyboard strokes will get you the answer. (Ctrl+T, BPM, [enter])

Wow Woman!!! You are not only one of the best 'female' drummers I have seen and heard, you are one of the best drummers I seen and heard "period". So, how did you learn to drum like that. You must be schooled/trained at one of the drumming schools/college's/Institute's.? You are just too technical to not be trained in some form or fashion. Sick girl, sick skills, chops, etc. I'll be watching you, keep em coming. Oh, do you have a really cool fill for ending a song, not too technical but something that would make you go, hhhuuummm, did you see what he just did at the end of that song. I don't put big endings on all songs, just a few throughout the evening. Any ideas for me Anika? Wow, awesome drummer.

It's just a little mistake during video edition. I think she just played along to a previously recorded track and a lot of video takes were made prior to editor to select some parts and compose the video.
@jeedrums10 жыл бұрын
I will use the google translator to talk with you. Not a camera error or anything logically as an art studio and work, she not only used one track to record audio and video, the audio was first recorded and then she recorded the image reproducing what she did in the recording, usually takes more than 4 lanes to exit a perfect song in a studio, but one thing I say, she plays very much!

It amazes me how many of you are surprised that a girl can be good at drums... Sure, music has been a primarily male-dominated field, save for vocalists. But I don't believe you have to be a man to be able to infuse the human emotion into an instrument. Great job Anika!!

Harry Vanderveer I know that historically speaking it was a man's thing in most cultures, only because, well, almost EVERYTHING was a man's thing. If anyone has an issue with female drummers, they need to look up two names: Cindy Blackman Santana, and Sheila E.
