Nice video for those unfamiliar with the tool. One thing to note when installing a blade into a jigsaw is to be sure the blade also aligns with the blade guide roller! Also, that blade can get really hot from the friction of cutting so caution, and gloves, are advised if the blade needs to be changed out or removed from the tool after completing a cut.

I am a first-time user (had used a saw decades ago!) I am also in my 60s, but I have the NEED and a strong desire to make things I want. TY TY TY TY For being very thorough, and explaining things in detail in such a way I can easily understand. I "Thought" I was fully prepared (Safety goggles, mask) but I need to go and get clamps (I knew this, but didn't) for today I am okay with the blade it came with, but I also will need in the future various types of blades. At the moment it's a shelf I am making, and redoing a bookcase. But later on, I want to do some fancier things. You have encouraged me further. SAFETY FIRST And above all! I was born with 10 fingers and plan on keeping them for the rest of my life.

Impressed and subscribed! wondering why you make understanding about tools so easy to use…I watch and follow a few diy KZbin channels but they are all male creators and often they are too technical, expecting everyone to have expensive tools of every type and a fully equipped workshop 😂😂😂 also you don’t see the actual tool details close up; whilst your video is clear, to the point and makes us feel like we can actually do woodwork!! Thank you ❤🙏

Good vid, remember jigsaws can also plunge cut, meaning you don’t need that drilled hole to saw out that square. Plunging is done by tipping the saw up with the front of the sole plate resting the wood and the blade clear of the wood. Then with the saw running, you SLOWLY lower the back until the blade contacts the wood. It will dig a slot allowing the blade to drop right through. When the entire sole plate is flat to the wood, you start sawing as normal.
