It's nice to see someone make a comprehensive video about Syrsa, documenting both the good and the bad. I am happy to have helped with the production, and I'm down to answer any further questions people might have about Syrsa or Zerahypt.

This futhermucker is extremely, CRIMINALLY underrated and has been for like 15 years now. I literally grew up with this guy. His music is a part of me, nostalgic yet ever novel, and his animations so inspiring then and now. His memey humor also has made me smile innumerable times. He is a very strange person, sure. But he's an artist, and you won't find any artist of his caliber who isn't more than a little crazy.

Crazy cool seeing a video essay about him, I found him from Vinny's live when he first played Terrahypt and would pop back in every now and then to see how he's doing ever since. Amazing work on this

this is a neat video, i wish you went into community shenanigans more because a lot of the joy of syrsa now is in the community and him as a person, his server is kind of like a giant friend group with injokes and controversy

The first time that I discovered Syrsa was back in 2013 when I was watching terraria videos from yrimir. I just had to check out the background soundtrack from those videos. I vividly remember checking out the music channel and finding a few songs that I liked (Aura, Tygria and some others), but that was basically it. I never looked deeper for any of his other content. A few years later, despite viewing a lot of tf2 content up until that point, I was mind blown when I found out that Syrsa was responsible for the surprise buttsecks song. I looked up his channel again and thought "He''s still making new songs and he's working on an open-world game of some sort where he brings his drawings to life. it's nice to see that he still enjoys doing this, good for him!". When he popped into my head again sometime in 2022, I was pretty surprised to find everything deleted and even an archive channel being set up. Thank you for making this comprehensive video essay on his history and whereabouts! It puts all the pieces together very neatly.

Personally, I'm slightly sad Surprise Buttsex is more popular than Yonk, but more than that I think Dune Pirates is peak Syrsa and should be what he's most known for. An entirely self-produced animatic/animation with 00s anime vibes and a soundtrack even better than the visuals. It's set in his world, but you don't have to know anything about it beforehand to appreciate the animation. I think seeing it on the front page of NG was how I first found him, and since then he's been somebody I check in on every once in a while. Back then finding free music online felt awesome so I've played his stuff quite a bit.

I was introduced to Syrsa during the time he was shouted out on Danger Dolan about video games you've never heard of. Zerahypt looked like an insanely awesome project at the time (2015) and in some areas still is. I was so inspired by it, I had a period of time in my life where Terrahypt was kinda just shoehorned into my own fictional world/lore itself. That has since changed, but there is clear evidence of influence being that I make music for my lore as well. However, it's a kind of lore you don't wanna mention to anyone because they'll start to notice the focus on breasts and its fetishistic weirdness and make fun of you or bully you for it. And yeah to be fair it is very weird in some aspects, and it seems like a barely disguised fetish project at times. However, the amount of detail and polish some areas get such as the history and politics between different nations and races is insane. Even though I've since left the community around 2022-23 due to its problematic dramas happening almost like a cycle, which I'm glad you touched on, it still has a little piece in my heart for being an influential media to myself personally and also to my creativity. I honestly wholeheartedly hope Benjamin well with any endeavors he has in the future, and I thank him for re-sparking my creative drive for worldbuilding. I thank you also for making this video and highlighting Syrsa's history, it was very well put together.

8:50 I thought (most?) of the Scoutellite animations were made with Gmod, not Source filmmaker? Thanks for the nice video and summary of Syrsas work, quite a blast from the past.
