It was much easier when carburetors were around. 1 : 2 camshaft and crankshaft ratio was done with 2 gears that meshed together or it might have a short chain rotating them in sequence. I grew up stacking all kinds of small & big block engines. Don't even remember how many I've built. ( Gas was 0.75 a gallon back then ) I remember when toilet bowl injection came out and hated it then. Today it's even worse with multi port fuel injection. More parts = more opportunities to break down. Offshore we use inboard 2 stroke diesels , 12 cylinders, 71 cubic inches each. ( Detroit Diesel 12/71's & 16/92's ) They don't even have camshafts or timing chain/belts. Many are both supercharged and turbo combined.

Agree! While my friend was telling me about something on his car, I didn’t follow what he meant and he’s like here, I’ll just show you it’ll be easier. I rolled my eyes 🙄 and thought, oh goodie, I can pretend to know while he shows me now…except when he showed me this video, for the first time in 20+years of driving and having a vehicle, I was able to understand, see, and connect what these things were and how they worked together and gave me an idea of how complex a working engine can be, yet how simple it is when you go step by step and see how each part has its place in the whole process. It’s hard to believe that engineers came up with this complex design around 1900. So many moving parts to keep in time. It was a basic engine back then but still had a crank and cam and timing components and valves that had to be in time to run. Amazing!

@@dougass6577, you find out what's wrong with it by simply researching about the problem. Then of course, once you've done all that, you learn each time what goes wrong with it. So in short, the more problems one has with their vehicle, the more they know about it, the more they know than anyone else who has a newer vehicle, because some newer ones are less likely to have a problem, and they'll know what's wrong, obviously, doesn't mean to say they can fix it themselves though, that's obviously when a trained engineer comes into it.

I've seen this video so many times, and just kind of grazed the surface of comprehending how everything functions and getting overwhelmed, taking notes of different parts and components and going away and studying. Today's the first time I've watched it and finally understood and comprehended everything and wow what a great feeling it is. Probably one of the worse ever inventions ever for humans. think of the amount of dead lives from accidents (compared to othe formes of transpoort) Add to that the space these monsters take town and cities. Then you have the noise pollution thermal engines create and finally most importantly of all, its signifciant contribution towards global warming. The truth is there were alternatives to transport, but thanks to powerful automotive lobbies (and more importantly oil companies that wanted a market) cleaner alternatives lost out

Very well done as usual. One little detail might be the catalytic converter doesn't exactly capture toxic chemicals but convert them into more inert ones using a platinum screen that alters the unburned hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water and nitrogen as if they had burned. It isn't a filter and nothing stays in it. Great job, love these videos!

Im an indian and I can confirm many youtube channels buys subs. U can find many channel with no views but with 100k subs. Also the indian audience isn't mature enough. They will sub to anyone who has asked them to.

@@pixels_buh And how different are pewdiepie fans? They aren't really that mature too, a mature person doesn't say things like 'small pp' and 'floor gang'. Pewdiepie fans made tons of dummy accounts to boost pewdiepie's subs during the sub race with T-series. Not everyone of your subscribers watch all of your videos, sure, but a ratio of 3 million to 110 million is crazy. I'm not that denying some Indian channels don't use sub bots, but not everyone uses it. Most of the channels have high subs because there is just a large audience in India.

The animation level is insane. How long does it take to make a video like this one?

A couple hundred hours in Blender (my 3D software) alone. The research and script writing is a good 40-60 hours before modeling even begins. It's not the complexity of the model only, but also making sure it's accurate and works how it should. You can fudge things with 2D drawings, but in 3D it has to be the right shape or things won't make contact when they should, etc. It's a real functioning machine, basically.
