His buddies are singing while the fight is ongoing because they are reminding him that he is a scion of Arjan Singh. The famed sikh warrior. During british-sikh war, in a particular battle Arjan singh and his men when ran out of ammunition, fought with axes and defeated british army. Brits however on the long run won the war against Sikhs for the rule of today's indian punjab, pakistan and Afghanistan but the lore of Arjan Singh bravery in that particular battle lived on. That's why these boys are singing the song. This character is supposedly the descendent of Arjan Singh.

Actually they created a historical scene their where there is rule only one best fighter will fight and remaining will cheer him up by singing that Epic song and no matter what they won't come to rescue him. If you watch the movie you will see the climax scene where Ranbir and the villian Bobby (Abrar) once again created this scene.

Few pieces of info.. 1) The boys were singing a folk war song... To hype the dude up. 2) In the movie, they showed that the main guy doesn't let his boys help him in the fights... In one of the scenes, the bad guy almost kills him, but he doesn't let his boys interfere and save him. 3) In the movie, this character is a psychopath, who could actually fight multiple people by himself coz he's full of rage and anger... And obviously it's not very realistic 😂

Actually that's an ancient way of fighting a war in India. During a war both the parties used to select the best warrior of their army & then they'll fight till one of them dies.... And their other army men will cheer them & one of the methods of cheering is singing. Winner takes all. So minimal loss of lives.

Well you guys raised a question that " why all of them are coming one by one to attack him and why not everyone falling on at a time? " and the answer to that is those people are in a do or die situation and they are trying their level best to attack him but in response they are getting chopped off by him. As you can see the hero character was in full form like he just kept going without stepping back and obviously those anti people were scared to go near him and eventually everyone ended up dead. In some frames you can see they all tried to attack him at a time but quickly hero defended himself and attacked them back. If you watch the film from the begining you will get more convinced.
