What would you call a dog then that looks like this but is about six inches taller, 80 lbs heavier, with long ears and giant paws? I lived with one for about a year that was displaced by a storm. I always thought she was an Arctic wolf but she was a giant. Like a small horse. Her name was angel.

Arctic wolves are just gray wolves with white pelts living on the Arctic tundra. Why is this guy calling it a difrent speices?

They are a different subspecies. Grey wolf is the whole species jn that you have different wolves, most people to my surprise dont know this like you. Some of these subspecies are the eurasian wolf, Desert wolf and ,the largest of them all, the McKenzie wolf. They are all grey wolves but just different subspecies, they have thousands of years of separate evolution. Some are really small like the Desert wolf, some are huge and are comparable to the dimensions of a lion in the McKenzie wolf. The artic wolf is special in many ways, one they have never really been hunted by humans so they don't fear them. Secondly as the guy said their muzzle and ears are smaller to help keep them warm. They also are the fastest wolf subspecies on the planet. I'd imagine jts because in the arctic tundra there is basically no cover so speed and stamina is key for a successful hunt.
