Hey! so there's a confirmed "science" behind villager diy times. All 3 villagers will craft for 3 hours each. The first villager starts crafting as soon as you first log on for the day (ex: 9:34am-12:34pm). The timing of the next 2 villager crafts depends on if you're online or not. If you're logged on when the first villager stops crafting, The next diy will start right after. (ex: 12:35-3:35pm) But if you aren't logged on, the 3hr window starts when you do log on again. That could be at any time you choose. The same applies for the last diy of the day. I've been trying this theory out for about a week and it's on the nose! Sorry if my explanation isn’t completely clear :)

I see it as more random as I have gotten a recipe as early as 8am and sometimes will still see the same villager crafting up to 6 hours later. Sometimes I get 3 a day, others times only 2. Doesn't seem to be guaranteed to me.

When Celeste is on your island and she gives you a DIY you don’t want you can close out the game before it auto saves and when you talk to her again she’ll give you a different DIY. I kept doing this and cycled through it until she gave me the Rocket DIY that I needed!

Maybe try saving and quitting the game? I know that basically resets spawn rates for some things so it might work for messages. It also fills all the holes on your island in you did a lot of landscaping!

Amanda W you don’t need a second character. You just have to wait 12 hours. Test it yourself. Start the next day at 6am. Go find the bottle. Then wait or TT to just after 6pm and you’ll find a second bottle. A second character would have their own, totalling 4 bottles 🙂

I ended up playing in two villages (my mom wanted help with her own village) so I have a theory about the two bottles. It only spawns after 3 stars. I was used to having two bottles but when I had to start the second village it didn’t happen. But as soon as I got K.K. (And the 3rd Star) the second bottle started appearing. Maybe check your island’s star rating?

With pitfall seed recipes, you can give a pitfall seed to a friend and they’ll be able to learn the recipe. All they need to do is bury the pitfall seed and dig it back up then their player will learn the recipe. Tried it with a friend and it worked

My favourite thing to do is save up all my duplicate recipes and put them on stalls, so I can invite my friends over to take what they don't have. They can bring their own duplicates and everyone trades DIY. A great way to share the knowledge.

I've been reading the guidebook for the game, and there are many recipes that villagers won't share until you have learned a certain amount of others. Most all of the flower furniture requires 100, most all of the gold items require you to have learned 200, and others here and there require you to have learned 50, 100, and 200. Additionally, I would like to note that certain villager personalities give you certain recipes, and it's a good mix. For instance, Smug villagers can give you the Golden Candlesticks and Golden Sarcophagus, and Snooty villagers can give you the Golden Throne and Golden Toilet. So if you're missing certain villager personalities on your island, you may miss opportunities to get certain recipes. Furthermore, the recipes that your amiibo campers can give you coincides with this, so if you're looking for something like the Golden Candlestick, you would want to habitually call over Smug villagers until they give you the DIY. I think more people should be aware of this since it can help add some focus.

The villagers crafting in their homes are tied to what time you start playing, not the time of day. When you start the day, the first person starts and crafts for three hours (they have to be awake, so if you start before 9am, it might not be immediate). Then if you keep playing for over three hours, the next person will start when the first persons time is up. If you stop playing and put your switch down, the next villager won’t start crafting until you come back online.

With villagers, I have been tracking mine for the last few weeks, and the trend is: All crafters will go for a maximum of 3 hours, and will end if you have a visitor who leaves the island using "-". One villager will craft when you first log in , or when they wake up, depending on which villager is first and time logged in. For my examples, I will use Bam, who gets up at 8, and Diva, who wakes up at 9:30 AM. I usually log in at 8:30 AM. If Diva is my first crafter of the day, she will start at 9:30 AM. If Bam is my first crafter of the day, he will start at 8:30 AM. If you do not sign off using "-", or are logged in at the appropriate time, then the second crafter will begin approximately 3 hours after the first one. In the Diva example, this would be 12:30 PM, while in the Bam example, this would be 11:30 AM. If you do sign off using "-", and are not logged in at the start time, then the next crafter begins whenever you log in. So, if I had Bam, and logged off using "-", and logged back in at 1:00 PM, the second crafter would begin at 1:00 PM. The third crafter follows the same rule as the second, just 3 hours later. So, in the Diva example, they would start at 3:30 PM, and for Bam 2:30 PM. In the 1:00 PM example, they would begin at 4:00 PM.

I thought I saw something about 2 daily bottles, but I wasn't aware of how it worked, so thanks for that. It's also good to know that I can get multiple recipes from villagers, and the rough timing for it to work. Speaking of things you can get daily, I recently discovered that 2 trees drop items/furniture each day (and 1 on every mystery island). I've now cut down a lot of my hardwood and cedar trees, and the remaining ones are bunched together in groups. Though by shaking those trees I've also been getting a lot more wasp nests, but because I'm ready with my net, it means I'm making money from selling all those wasps. :P

The mystery islands: I've recorded what I found for a while and did about 50 islands and for me the spawn rate of bottles was about 25% (and fossils about 30%). I didn't know about the 2 bottles spawning on your island, I'll definitely be checking that again ;w; I probably picked up 2 multiple days now, probably thinking I'd forgotten to pick it up in the morning, haha.

Helpful stuff! 2 things to note: I've encountered Celeste on my own island and a friend's on the same day. She gave me 1 when i was at friend's, but acted as if i'd already spoke to her when i got home and gave me nothing. Don't know if that's intentional or not, but it did burn me. if you've got a villager crafting, anyone else who visits your island and speaks to them will also get the recipe from them. Do this a lot with friends and we all got the pitfall recipe from my island the other day!

I have eight accounts on my island. I only get one bottle each day from each of them, with my main account occasionally getting the second one. It's a lot faster to gather them if you just call other the other residents one at time instead of loading the game and going through the morning announcements with each one, but only one bottle can spawn at a time. The eight accounts also help with a ton of other things. Each one can help Gulliver. Each one can buy a piece of art from Redd so you can get all four when he comes. Each one can commission art from CJ and Flick. Star fragments are kept to who wished on them, so you can wish with different accounts to get more than the seeming max of about 30 fragments from a meteor shower. One note on the Celeste recipes. The first recipe a villager gets will always be the star wand, and then you always get the current zodiac recipe before they have a chance to get the misc space and wand recipes from her.

I can’t find my second bottle. Since lock down I’ve been playing the game nonstop for 12 hours straight (not proud) but I’ve never encounter a second bottle.

I actually have 3 extra player villagers, although it's more due to the fact that inspiration for my island layout hit while I was making the first one. Now, in addition to my main one, I have Dimitri, Claude, and Edelgard ruling three different areas of my island each with their own distinct culture. It's still a work in progress, and some I'm more inspired for than others, but now that I've paid off all my Nook loans for my main, it gives me something to focus on. Plus, so many DIY, Gulliver, and Redd items!

The recipe for a pitfall seed can actually be obtained by digging one up, so if you have a friend with a pitfall they can bury it, have you dig it up, and you'll automatically learn it.

If you’re on a mystery island tour and you don’t find a message in a bottle, you can always shake the trees for furniture (Ik it wasn’t mentioned bc the video is about the DIY recipes, but just for the players who didn’t know :)

I've never seen a second bottle, and I traverse my beach every night to fish. Also, I have over 300 recipes and have yet to find the pitfall seed.

I have never had 2 bottles a day and I have played every day since launch day. I am the only resident and I play from early morning until late at night (I don’t play any other game). None of my friends who play with me have had 2 bottles a day either. The only time I get a second bottle is if I go to a mystery island (hardly ever).

I didn't know about the two bottles per day. One thing I've noticed lately is that when I hit the third villager crafting time, they just give me the same one I got that morning. This has been occurring for the past week; not sure if I'm just unlucky or if other people are experiencing it as well. Not sure about those crafting times, cause my one villager has been crafting the same recipe for about 7 hours now (which is weird; usually they switch by now). Also haven't gotten a new recipe from amiibo scanned villagers in a while. This last week, they've wanted either an ironwood bed or a clackercart...if they ask one more time, I'mma clackercart THEM! ;p I'm missing so many recipes, and the game just keeps giving me repeats; it's so frustrating. >.

I’m convinced the types of recipes you received are really commonly linked to behaviour of what you do not just for collecting trash. I never used to find ironwood things and now I find ALL of them, I seem to have a huge amount of flower crown recipes because I have a lot of certain flowers, I had a period of only finding fruit based diys, it always seems oddly specific to be random chance.

You have to actually play the additional villagers to spawn their bottles. It's enough if you go into multiplayer mode and end it right away, the bottle will have spawned and your "main" villager can find it.

The second bottle thing just isn't true, or it's insanely rare random luck. I play everyday since release, from roughly 8AM to midnight. Only ever find one bottle a day, and I'm on all my beaches a lot. Even after seeing this video, I remembered grabbing my bottle around 8:30ishAM, and after checking my beach at 11:55, saving a quitting, reloading the game, and checking again at 12:10, no bottle. It just doesn't happen unless it's extremely rare.

The second bottle always spawns after I turned off the game and got back on, even if it is ten minutes later, you don't have to wait 12 hours.

Keep in mind, the second bottle could be hiding some where like next to the pier,so if you have items on your beach,like walls. The bottle could be next to it

I've found a second bottle a few times so I can vouch that it is real. However, I think it might be a random chance sort of thing cause I've only had it happen a few times and I collect shells frequently as well as playing in both the morning and then again at night.

I’ve been checking my villagers every morning, afternoon, and evening hoping for the gold armor, but 90% of the time they will give me a cooking recipe instead of a diy😢this 2.0 update seems to have made it more much harder to get specific diys you want..

I've found if you visit a mystery island and there isn't a message in a bottle on the beach, then shake the trees. Items often appear in the trees instead. I've only been to a couple of islands that haven't had either of them but generally if there isn't one, you'll get the other. Also shaking trees in general will drop up to 2 items a day which I find useful for cataloguing

The bottle thing is true, I have found 2 bottles plenty of times before BUT it could be because I have more than one account living on my island but not 100% sure if that’s the reason or not.

Bottles! I have 3 residents on my island me, my boyfriend, and my cat. The cat is designated as the "mess-with" character between the two of us that we can share and use for whatever purpose we like. But because I play AC more, most of his storage is for furniture I plan to do future things with and any other in game advantages. I didn't know about the 2nd bottle or the amiibo DIYs! I was villager hunting yesterday and picked up every diy bottle I could find on the islands, I ended up with about 6 or 7 of them and only 1 was a duplicate, that’s pretty lucky for me because most of the time I get dupes

I've never gotten 2 bottles on the beach, but now I will have to check. I usually check the beach every morning around 9am, and then I'm on the beach all day because I fish to make bells. I'll have to check the villagers too, never thought to visit them more than once a day in their homes.

The second bottle thing has only happened a few times for me, but I did not realise the crafting villagers happened 3 times in a day, as I was told it was twice with with 3 hour gap between when you learnt the last one. Also, I added a second character simply as a friend advised me it would help fill up the art section of museum as you can have both but something when Redd is selling 2 real pieces. Then I happened to stumble across a second DIY bottle and assumed it would be the same, but it wasn't.

I, too, have a second resident character. My main character is Oouga but I created Sherlock, thinking it would get it's own account and I could claim to be Southern Hemisphere. Yes, it would be two entire games, but my friend was playing Northern Hemisphere and I thought we could visit each other's islands and get other bugs and fish. However, I have found the extra recipe bottles and, apparently something odd, my second character (Sherlock) is better at catching scorpions. Oouga misses all the time, I don't know why, but Sherlock very rarely gets stung. So, there is THAT benefit, too. if I go out at night, bring Sherlock. ALSO: Sherlock gets his own glowing money hole. So, that's two a day since I have Sherlock. Sherlock has to dig up the hole and bury the bells, but Oouga can harvest the trees for both.

Mystery Island DIY : Visited a mystery island and there wasn't a message in a bottle on the island. But while I was fishing this mystery island, I caught a tire. Which prompted my character to say this gives me a DIY idea. I checked my nook phone and sure enough a new DIY was in there for a tire. Mystery islands typically have one piece of furniture in a tree to shake out.
