Elizabeth Post give them walldecorations! They wont show up in their houses. I always make the hanging terrarium, since it sells for 2500 at nooks. If you give a selfmade diy of 2500, they will always give you a present back. It will also give you the most friendship points (with wrapping paper)

You can Investigate lost items in your inventory. There are clues to who it belongs to if you know your animals well. If it just says "somebody lost this" then it belongs to your newest or lowest friendship level animal.

I don't think this is accurate, I find like 3 to 5 items a week and it almost always belongs to Beau, who is probably the highest friendship as he was the first to let me change his catchphrase and greeting. When it doesn't belong to him it belongs to pretty random villagers. I assumed Beau gets the most lost items cause of his personality. And to my knowledge, it always says someone lost an item.

If you don't want your villagers to replace their furniture, you can always send wall/door items. My gift of choice is the crest doorplate because it only costs 4 iron per villager and sells for roughly 3000 bells.

Lower friendship villagers are more likely to leave. It’s just what’s more important is their friendship levels with other residents. Having multiple best friends really helps lower their chances of being picked, though regardless everyone still has a decent chance of wanting to leave.

It should be noted that the friendship tier bonus points when gifting is only rewarded if you receive an item back (e.g. clothing or furniture). So you can gift items from 250-2499 for a 50% chance of getting this bonus, or guarantee that you get this friendship tier bonus by giving them 2500+ bell items. If you want to track what friendship points you accumulate then you can do so through public projects (bridges and inclines) as the bells donated to these each day by the villagers is equal to the total number of friendship points you've accumulated with everyone.

The Photo is gained randomly through gift exchange as soon as friendship level 5. Gift exchange is what happens when u give them expensive gifts. If somehow you max out your friendship at 255 points you are guaranteed to get the photo. Edit: see below. What I said here was not right.

Just in case anyone doesn't know this, with the lost items there's an option to investigate them so you can better guess who they belong to. it's annoying for me though because I currently have a bunch that are the same personality type so it's a 50/50 if I guess the type right ( Phoebe and Deidre for chi, Marina and Goldie for Normal, Kyle and Lopez for smug, Raddle and Sherb for lazy and then just Dobie for cranky and Blaire for snooty.

As someone who has obtained 16 photos during the past week, I would like to point out a potential glitch found in the game. If you are like me and only gift villagers wrapped up 2x2 furnitures in fear of villagers putting random smaller gifts inside their house which in turn destroys their aesthetic permanently. We are in a bit of trouble. One thing I've noticed is that , by the time some of my villagers gave me their photos, the default smaller “table top“ furniture in their house had all vanished. This happened to my Raymond, Merengue and Marina, and I can't quite pinpoint the logic behind it. It looked almost if their house had a breakin, and the robber only stole what they could carry. However all is not lost, I managed to gift back even better small furnitures day after day. Their current interior deco looks better than their default, but one downside is that villagers have the habit of switch up the placement of gifted small furnitures every day. So you might one day walk in to find a laptop on their kitchen counter with its screen facing the wall. That's all, just wanted to share my somewhat unusual experience ;D

I haven't been seeing this said much, but I had a ton of leftover fossils and my museum is already done with fossils.. so I gift wrapped a ton of them and gave them to villagers instead of furniture. Doing that each time worked just as well, but I time travel, so I imagine maybe it's less effective than expensive furniture without TT? The villagers still gave me bells or items after I gave them wrapped fossils and, eventually, their framed photo. I gave Filbert expensive furniture and his house looks whack now lol.

I got my first villager photo EVER on New Year’s Eve from Julian!!! I started giving my villagers fossils and within a few days received Julian, Twiggy, and Norma’s photos 🥰 I’ve had all of them for a few months. Giving them fossils was really the boost I needed to get those photos though! I totally recommend it. Especially if, like me, you’ve already completed the fossils for the museum. 🦴

Decreasing friendship helps a bit as there is a formula for determining if a villager will prompt to move out in that day. If it’s a day for a villager to prompt to move out, the characters with the highest average friendship with yourself and other residents, plus an extra larger bonus for every best friend that resident has, will be the ones with the lowest percentages to get the prompt. Its a little all over the place for me between Charesles, Piper, Skye, and Agnes. Agnes is the highest, She let me change her catch phrase. Charesles has asked me to go on quests and treasure hunts, Skye asks me for favors and gifted stuff, Piper has asked for favors and gifted me stuff. In a nutshell.

Raymond was my third villager and I have given him presents every day since I began playing. He recently gave me his photo after a few months of playing. I always made sure to talk to him multiple times and always purchased what he offered to sell me, even if i didnt want it lol. I find that giving them gifts that are a bit more personalized to their personality types really help. For example, for Raymond I gave him clothes like a tuxedo/college sweater that I felt his gentlemanly demeanor would like. I also have Sheldons photo and for him I gave him lots of sport items such as a basketball hoop or bench press. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I think thats what helped get the photos.

Tier 5-6. Normal villagers give you daydreaming, peppy ones give you mischief, snooty ones give you love, sisterly villagers give you confident, lazy pride, jock flourish, cranky inspiration, and smug showmanship.

Almost 2 Months of playing and never got one and then within 2 days both Bones and Ankha gave me theirs 😂 Ankha even asked me if she should move out and I begged her to stay, then I gave her a perfekt gift she would like and next thing she gave to me was her photo, i‘m convinced she just wanted to test my friendship before she gave it to me, lol 😂

At first I wasn't sure about her when she moved in, since I was trying to give that plot of land to someone else and I didn't know how the mechanics worked yet and messed up, so she moved in randomly. But after talking to her a bit I fell in love and now I would take a bullet for this horse, and I give her all kinds of cute clothes to wear :o)

Can a villager lose friendship if I talk to them too much? Some villagers seem to be dropping some pretty big hints sometimes if I talk to them a bunch of times throughout the day. Also, if two villagers ask me for my opinion, and I side with one villager, does that affect friendship in any way?

Accepting or refusing nicknames has no effect on friendship level, right? I've always hated the nickname system and refuse to let them even suggest something. I have four photos currently. I'm trying to get photos before they move out now but one I don't have yet keeps walking around thinking, so I assume she's trying to escape me. Boo! I put a freaking telescope in your yard, Skye!

5:29 I think you can also lose points if they ask you to catch a bug or something and you refuse. Yesterday I turned down a request as I was busy, and even though you can just agree and then not give the item with no consequences I feel bad doing that. After I said no there was a sad sounding sound effect, like the opposite of the sound when you agree to do a task and you get a happy one. Then today I could no longer give the villager gifts when I'd be able to before. So in future I'll just lie to them because apparently that's the only way.

For the daily gift, I always do a wrapped stack of 2 foreign fruits. It's valuable enough that they'll always give an item in return and I don't have to worry about messing up their house (as with furniture) or wardrobe (as with clothes).

I just got my first villager photo on ACNH. It’s a picture of Sheldon, my jock squirrel villager. I was honestly so happy when I received it. I honestly don’t like the gifts they give in return most of the time but the photo is my favorite so far. I like some of their other gifts but usually I just want to give them gifts for easy friendship points.

I wish you could click on their pictures on the map and actually see the friendship level. I’m gonna increase talking to my normal villagers that I love they don’t seem to mind lots of conversation. Some personality types get mad in my experience.
