I’m so dang glad they finally added Gyroids to ACNH. The second they announced them, I just shouted at my phone… At 12:00 midnight. Now to obtain some Tootoids in which to place around the house of my least favourite villager.

I'm honestly just so excited to play this game again, after like half a year away. I never thought it was possible, and it seems almost disturbing on many levels, but... just walking around my island at 5:30 this morning gave me hardcore lockdown nostalgia. *_Lockdown. Nostalgia._* Something about remembering all the fear and worry blowing up the news and real life back in March/April 2020... going to grocery stores with aisles devoid of water bottles and toilet paper... wondering if your job would shut down, or if the virus would turn out to be deadly to children, putting your kids' lives in danger... then remembering waking up every morning to turn on Animal Crossing and chip away at the wilderness on your island to carve out a peaceful, carefree society... For millions of people around the world, in multiple generations, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will always be cherished as the eye of peace in the midst of a hurricane of life and death. I'm so happy to have a fresh pile of reasons to dive back in and explore the little micro-plane my family and I have carved out amongst the 1's and 0's flipping around in our Switch.

Dood yea, ACNH, Stardew Valley, and Civ 6 kept me sane during the Plague. There was a simpleness to that time that I kinda miss, I remember I took up gardening and digital art during my stay at home. It was scary to venture into the outside world, but at home I felt safe and didn’t want to leave. Idk how I pulled it off financially but it was definitely an experience I won’t forget

Do we know what the limit on active gyroids is? I know in previous games if you turned on too many the earlier ones would start to turn off. I need to know how big my gyroid choir can be.

From what I know, when you place them outside you have to be near them for them to do anything. They always seem to be active inside your house though.

As a filthy time traveler I can confirm that every day during December and January I have found a gyroid on my island.

Does it just automatically happen for everyone after the update that added it or do you have to have kappn unlocked for gyroid peices to start spawning? I just started ACNH for the first time in Dec and have played 2 weeks straight with digging up spots everday and no gyroid peices.

Gyroids looked much different in past games btw, and could not be hung on walls (at least as far as I know). Furthermore, fun fact, Gyroids (and the villager Coco) are based on a real life thing called Haniwa, which were clay dolls, that long ago, were used for burying with a dead person, in the belief that the Haniwa would help them on the deceased person's passing onto the afterlife, or even the Haniwa to be their new body in the afterlife. As such, some Haniwa were made specifically to look like the dead person did when they were alive

You can also find intact gyriods in kappn islands without even growing and waiting the next day but it’s a small chance I think. I got one the other day along with the fragment the same island

Without music they are not humming at random, but to the song that islander will sing if there is no music around (same when you use an instrument without being close to something playing a KL song.)

Build the leif shop on harvs island for 100k and you can buy crops.

Kapp'n takes one person a day. My island has 4 residents, so I can collect 4 a day no time travel needed .... .... So far.

I've only seen a single one on an island tour with Kapp'n, each time I use his daily boat service. I've never found more than one on the same island. Only reason I could get two Gyroid fragments from my first visit, is because Brewster gave me one, and I dug-up the other one
