Animal Jam: Why Do Jammers Want To Be Rare?

❄️I honestly feel like this is a consistent ongoing question that I would think about. Like actually why do we want to be rare? Was there more to the story? Do we even know why these rare items are so important? Anyways I hope you found me talking for 6 minutes interesting enough. I think the reason why people want rare items so they can be "acceptable" to others in the game. When I started playing the game for the first time, I used to get disrespected alot and ignored, but when I got good items I got noticed more often. Due to this type of "popularity scale" I got jealous and started scamming people because of my greed to get noticed or "popular." I highly regret doing this, but at the same time I felt like that was the only way for me to get rares. This caused me to get lonely in the game and made me stop playing it for a while. Luckly I stopped scaming and started trading legitimately, but sometimes I wish I could go back in time and give people I scammed their items back T^T

Honestly, I’ve been playing since the game came out, I quit for four years, and then came back. Aj deleted my account, because of inactivity, so I started over. I’m honestly not worried about rares and I don’t even care about being rare, because four years ago, I had items that were easy to get but still decent. There was no need to care about being rare for me at least. But I have actually noticed that because of the rarity system, there’s more bullying. I do actually get bullied on the game, and usually my rarity does come up. I’m not unrare, but I’m not super rare either. I don’t even want most of the wanted rares. Rarity doesn’t matter.

When I used to play, I thought being rare was the only way you’d be recognized. I noticed a lot of rare jammers (0nce, Arbor Lily, Cliche, Midnight paws, etc) all seemed to be known throughout the game for amazing rares. I wanted to be recognized too! But this was before I knew of most of their youtube channels, so I assumed all of them were known for having Rares. Also some rares I just really liked! Like boas, purple bowties, etc, I loved those items. Some people use them for redemption. When I was scammed for the first time of my flower crown, I started to want rares even more, so I kept working until I got 2 flower crowns. I felt like I lost something inside of me whenever I got scammed, not because I loved the rares, but because I felt stupid and just wanted to look smart by having these items or wanted to redeem myself for trusting the horrible scammers. I used to get lucky, like trade a new jammer that coincidentally had something good. 2 times before I’ve gotten A BOA from a new jammer who didn’t know if it was rare! I thought it was okay at the time, but I felt bad, like I was robbing them of the game. The game possessed me in some cases, and possessed my friends, too! Once I had mistaken the rarity of a sugar glider and my ‘friend’ posted all over Instagram about me. This is why I’ve quit the game.

I had gotten rares like that before because I didn’t know the rarity of a sugar glider and they say like I want 600 sapphires for it. So I thought that was the rarity. And also this girl also leaked my old username which I didn’t want other people to know because I was a mean person back then (not like scamming but I was rude and stuff and didn’t want some old foe to know it was me.) Another thing is, often most times the "rare" considered items look really cute/good or have a certain aspect on a character that no other item does. So I feel like most of the rare items look better. Such as violet and white airplane wings, (My dream) they look so cute! But it is very well hard to retrieve them... I barely am at pink bow worth right now if you don't include my lizards an other pets,. But I traded all my variety into a white myth which seems to be rising.

I got bullied so bad by most of my friends who actually weren’t ‘friends’ but it was mostly because I get overprotective of myself when defending myself from the other bullies then I start being mean because I get so mad. As someone who used to be much rarer than I am currently. Rares on this game determine your status. Nobody wants to be friends with you if you don't have good items. Chances are nobody is randomly going to strike a conversation with you if you are just any old wolf or bunny. When I used to have more rares, I used to get alot of buddy requests. Not anymore. As I no longer have many active buddies in general, that didn't buddy back when I had better stuff, the game is becoming boring to me. With not much to do.

Well I don’t want the “rares” for popularity or stuff like that, but it’s because of trying to work up for a item that I was originally scammed out of. My blacklong was scammed but this was when I didn’t know how much that long was worth, but when I discovered wootmoo’s den, that’s what inspired me to trade for valuable items like dizzy stars and a camis frog, fortunately those are the only two “rares” I have, and I’m going to keep trading and trading until I can get a blacklong. This might seem like a addiction for one item made out of pixels, but that’s what the trading system of the community is about, right? Of course I just took a long break but now I’m playing again for the hard work that I will come across.

I needed this, I’m a decently rare jammer, I have dj headset, snails, all sorts of stuff, but I always feel the need to go higher in a sense of accomplishment and getting what I want, I’ve been so caught up in the game lately it’s tiring.
