Oh wow, I didn't know that Animal Wonders doesn't support you and Augusto right now! That makes all the work you put in that much more impressive and overwhelming to me. Thank you for working so hard for the animals, and I hope you're able to transition to Animal Wonders providing income for your family soon!

Thanks for doing this video! After discovering a family of red foxes living in a small thicket at the back of our suburban yard, I got on KZbin to learn more about foxes. I was immediately captivated by the content, as well as by Jessi's engaging personality and charisma. I commented to my wife and kids that Jessi's presence, passion and energy for the animals is a big part of the formula that make these videos unique and fun to watch. Learning that Augusto is also fully dedicated to the Animals Wonders mission, and that the two of you put this thing together by yourselves, was inspiring to me from a business/life balance perspective, and I'm sure it will be for others, as well. My oldest daughter, for instance, is a college freshman studying Journalism; she's also really into animals, and has been throughout her life. For my daughter, Animal Wonders serves as a great example of what's possible when young people work hard and remain committed to their ideals. Congratulations and best of luck moving forward!

I was wondering what degree(s) you held since I'm looking to work with wild animals, but I'm not really sure what I should do to finish my undergrad studies and then what to go to graduate school for.
@animalwondersmontana10 жыл бұрын
If you think you want to work with animals, but haven't decided in what capacity yet. I would highly suggest that you start volunteering at any animal facility so you can get an idea of what type of work you'd like to do with animals. As far as a degree, I would suggest any kind of science degree like: zoology, biology, psychology, or anything that could be related to animals and the natural world. You don't necessarily need to go to grad school to get your foot in the door, unless you think you want to work in upper management positions at a larger facility like a big zoo.

I'm not sure exactly since I haven't traveled that path myself. My best advice would be to get some practical experience by volunteering or getting an internship at a facility that works with animals so you can beef up your resume. Good luck!

So I have one question/small complaint about animal wonders. Why is your logo a monkey if you don't seem to work with any? It should be kimosabi or a cavi or something.
@animalwondersmontana10 жыл бұрын
Kemosabe would be a great logo! The concept for the logo was created in 2009 before we had Kemosabe or any of our more "famous" animals. It's a reference to Peru where Augusto is from and also animals which is what we're all about. And we never really know, there may be a time when we need to take in a primate.

I work in the non-profit world, and this video sounds like a (very savvy and effective) pre-funding campaign announcement. Do I sense a Subbable page coming? I hope so! I've been watching y'all's videos for a while and wondering when you would be able to leverage them for more financial support of the work you do. I'm excited for y'all. (And my husband and I are in the stage where I'm working full time plus in the non-profit, and he's got another job plus doing non-profit. We're trying to get to the place where he can make that jump before we have kids.)
@HyenaPrincess10 жыл бұрын
I am incredibly curious what other job it is that you have since caring for all those critters seems like a pretty full time occupation. I'm assuming it's not something you'd like to share since otherwise you probably would've put it in the video; but that's INSANE. Kids, Animal Wonders, and a "day job"?

Sometimes I wish I was born in America for the opportunities like volunteering and internships that can be done there with animals. In the UK it's difficult to become a volunteer in something to do with animals, many places don't offer the opportunities and others are held back for insurance reasons, it's quite frustrating when you want a career that requires lots of practical experience, like working with animals >__< but oh well, just means when I eventually get there I'll hopefully have an inspiring story to tell!
