I actually believe that Russian blue cats are originated from Korat cat because King Chulalongkorn of Siam was a good friend to czar Nicholas I of Russia and their royal families had close friendships. Both cats have short hairs which are unlikely belonging to a cold country. Moreover the Russian blues became world-widely known just lately after czar Nicholas I's reign.

I don't know about the Korat but the Russian Blue has a very dense wooly undercoat which would help with the cold weather.

My father was from Korat but our family live in Bangkok. When I was a kid I visited my aunt at Korat. She's got 4 Korat cats and it's really lovely I remember I played with it all day. A really good memory.

My 4 year old korat is not all that active unless it comes to food. She is pretty intelligent, I can tell by her stare. She is definitely the ruler 😄

Literally cannot tell the difference. Some photos of korat look like Russian blues in this video and vice versa.

Very simple explanation. Many photos and especially videos in KZbin are full of mistakes. Russian Blues, Korats, British Short Hairs and even Mixed Breeds are happily mixed with each other. I have had Russian Blue cats (or Russkies as we call them) for 22 years and several litters. The young ones have beautiful BLUE eyes which turn green during the first 6 months of their life. In real life you can easily distinguish a Russian Blue from Korat. Even their body language is different. Russian Blue appeared "officially" in the court of Elisabeth of Russia, about 100 years BEFORE Nicholas I. I am sure that the king of Siam and Nicholas I were good friends, but it does not explain things that took place over 100 years before their time.

I still don't know what the hell cat we had. She could have been either, or a mixed breed. Her fur did start to go brownish as she got older though, around 14 years. But she was such a loyal pet. I miss her.

My 2mo baby girl Yodi is such a sweet Russian blue. She gets along sooo well with my moms 6mo calico. They're so fun to watch play together. My moms calico Chiquita is super attached to me so it didnt take long for Yodi to come around me more so because she clicked with chiquita almost right away. Its cute they're like little sisters now. 😊

I love my Korat… basically a dog that meows. I cannot express the level of intelligence they have, from playing to time management… if you lack in time management skills they will teach you how to. This video does a good job explaining the korats personality but if you are lucky enough to know someone who has one there is so much more to them. To find one in the USA you would probably have better luck finding a meteor that fell in the middle of an Arizona desert 20 years ago than to find one. But if you do consider yourself blessed.

Well I'm in Michigan and a Korat just happened to make a home for itself in my backyard. It's been around for almost a week now, especially after feeding it. I've been researching to find out what breed it might be and all it's features points to the Korat.

Mine is a very big boy 19.5 lbs. And not fat. He is very affectionate great lap warmer on cool evenings. Indoor and outdoor cat great mouser. Follows me into the woods for walks and hangs close as I work on projects outdoors. Yup he's a handsome devil he makes the girls swoon 😊

My boy doesn't avoid strangers he's always curious about strangers! I tell him he's a God cat he loves this! He is the ruler! He talks a lot! He follows me everywhere! He's a bit jealous! He doesn't tolerate dominate animals! His father was a purebred who didn't care about mating with another korat! Training was no problem he loves treats! As a preemie I have to watch his weight! No puzzle toys as he was abused for the first 5 weeks of life so building trust was the main agenda! My boy I don't play much due to my mobility issues! His sister died from a neuro paralysis disease she didn't get this till 7half years! Hope my boy lives as long as a blue!

We had the fortune of having a Korat cat in our neighborhood approach us and want to be our friend and be in our household. He is smitten with our girl Bonnie but her counterpart Clyde well let's say hes a little aggravated. He's a very vocal boy who tells you what he wants. @@animaldigest thank you for the kind words. I adopted her as a young kitten in 2007 & your video provides unexpected comfort that her lifespan - hopefully - was not unnaturally short. I know lifespans can vary, yet in my experience -- your video gets a lot correct. No health problems or complications. Then, about three months into year fifteen -- she seemed noticeably ill for the first time & passed away that same day. Sorry. Not here to spread sadness. I consider myself very fortunate to have many 'live photos' wherein we're both having a good time.

I have a female Korat cat and a male Russian Blue. She is the boss and queen of the house, and she loves being with me. She doesn't like it when I go to work. He is much more independent and he loves to eat and eat. They have a son who I don't know what race she is. I would say she has more Russian descent than Korat.

Korat seem to have a darker coat, hard to tell. Longer tail on the Russian Blue.
